I looked for a link to our Blackstone, and I've found them to be significantly more expensive online than in person. I suggest shopping locally at hardware stores, Home Depot or Walmart for the best deal.
Hey there darling! Welcome to my kitchen. Here I share recipes from a real family that loves to grow and eat real food. Don't say you can't cook! You just haven't learned yet. I'm so happy to have a chance to encourage you in the journey to eating nourishing, whole foods!

We’re a farm family and we have 7 kids and so many extras but I love it. I’m a tatted farm mama too so it’s nice to see another farm mom like me that isn’t a “badass” that’s sometimes stereotypical of women with sleeves so I appreciate finally seeing someone a little like me 💕 PS- have you ever tried smoking your soy sauce? It adds a hit of flavor that pairs perfectly with fried rice. Add a bit of my homemade kimchi and yum! Asian food is my weakness!

Having eating fried rice for the last 74 years and having cooked it for 55 years (just like mama made it), I was taught to serve it with cucumber slices on the side. Mama also served it with green beans w/spiced peanut butter sauce. All Indonesian style. Yummy 😋 Basic is always tastier.

I've seen your comment about avoiding seed oils before and wasn't sure what that was about. I did a little research on my own and have decided to cut that out of my cooking. The one seed oil I was hesitant to lose is sesame seed oil because I love the flavor when making Asian dishes. This video eased my mind. Thanks, Jess! 😄

We do the same thing! One recommendation if anyone uses regular white rice, let it completely cool or use leftover rice. I grew up working in an Asian restaurant and the owners always made their rice the day before and turned it into fried rice the next day. It doesn’t happen so much with jasmine or basmati rice but regular white rice can get mushy when it’s stir fried while hot. We prefer the texture of long grain rices like jasmine when we make fried rice on the black stone. It’s also yummy with fresh pineapple stir fried in too!

Jess, I don't know if you know this but regular soy sauce has wheat in it so it is not gluten free. Tamari is a soy sauce that is not made with wheat and is a great alternative. The difference in taste is negligible but regular soy sauce has a little tiny bit of sweetness so you can add a little bit of sweetener like raw honey. Also, from what I understand, seed oils themselves aren't necessarily bad (GMO canola oil excepted). It depends on how the oil is extracted. The oils that are chemically extracted are what you really want to avoid. Toasted sesame seed oil has a better oil content so it can be cold pressed with a good, less inflammatory results. If you press your own seed oils, they are actually as good as oils like coconut and avocado. I plan on getting my own press because they make good presses for tinctures as well. I believe Lisa from Farmhouse on Boone/Simple Farmhouse Life podcast had a guest a couple months ago who talks about the topic.

Jess, I make fried rice at home using only 1 cup raw rice that I have cooked before, and I have also done it at my church using a gallon of raw rice, also cooked, on their flat top. Everyone loves Asian style fried rice unless they are a space alien. LOL Any way, my technique is a bit different than yours, but it looks like we both end up at the same place. The only thing I do differently is how I use the garlic. I make a seasoned garlic oil with olive oil I buy by the gallon at Costco. I pour out about a cup of olive oil into another jar for other uses. Then I add freshly peeled whole cloves of garlic until I can't fit anymore into the gallon jug and then I let it sit untouched for about two months. I use this when I am making fried rice, so I don't have to worry about the garlic burning. I also part this out at Christmas time in 8 oz flip top bottle along with a 2 oz flip top bottle for all my cousins and my 2 remaining aunts. This is the second video of yours i have watched because I wanted to see someone else make fried rice on a flat top.

Fried rice is even better when you have leftover rice. The rice is a little more dried out so the texture is more of what youwould get as carry out. In my household there is usually only enough leftover rice for one serving and it is perfect for lunch.

Yummy. I love making fried rice. One trick to take it to 'next level' like takeout - add the tiniest bit of sugar to it. Like maybe 1-2 pinches (literal pinches, don't even use a spoon) for that whole batch of rice. Obviously, you don't want it sweet, but the tiny bit of sugar seems to enhance the salty/umami flavors and just brings it all together somehow. I also make 'GG Paste' (garlic-ginger paste) and keep it in a tiny, lidded ice cube tray in my freezer (Williams-Sonoma has some nice ones of a perfect 'one clove of garlic' size ). Then I can just pop out some 'fresh' ground garlic & ginger for things like this as needed. You can also make cubes of just garlic and/or just ginger. Or of basil. Or...whatever else you want.

You are missing one ingredient for your fried rice, white pepper!! It’s a staple in Asian cooking. We also use Coconut Aminos (low sodium) in replacement of soy sauce. Now to convert Jess over to the Zojirushi rice cooker(when the other one dies), total game changer lol. We do a ton of Asian cooking in our house and I still cheat and buy a few things pre made because of time constraints. Great content Jess!!

I make fried rice similarly to this as well. I like to use carrots, peppers, celery, mushrooms, onions, and garlic. I don't like peas. Never have. My son and husband love them, so I grow lots of them. They prefer them raw straight out of the garden, so I normally don't even have any for cooking even if I wanted them. 😂 I have not put meat in my fried rice. The egg is usually enough, though I think I will likely try adding some in. We usually have potstickers or teriyaki chicken when I make fried rice. I'll be happy to change it up.
