Everybody and their hermano has a lawn business in Houston
@kvnconstruction97122 ай бұрын
He makes $480k a month? No, his revenue is $480k, we have no idea what’s his NET profit. More than likely 10%. So, like $580k for the entire year before taxes and $380k after tax. Probably $32k a month clean for the business. That’s more accurate
@daddyschainsjewelry2 ай бұрын
Lawn care business. Is a business that you build to sell. That’s why he wants to franchise it because there’s no money and mowing lawns because your Joe with a pick up truck will do it for $20. The average poor person is fine with working a 14 hour day and only clearing 150 bucks for the day. So you have to sell the business to actually get any money so you rack up a bunch of customers and then that’s what the value is. It’s basically McDonald’s.
@squidly11172 ай бұрын
He said his margins are 20-25%, so it's more like 100k+

One van makes $2,250 revenue per day. He has 35 vans. $480k profit/month (not revenue) sounds about right to me. Revenue is much, much higher by my numbers.
@jelinektreeserviceАй бұрын
The description says he does $5.8 million a year in revenue. Being in Ohio they are applying fertilizer and spraying weeds for around 9 months out of the year. Winter stops them from working in this field. 9 months working would be $644k a month gross. Which is $32k a day for 5 day work weeks. And divide that by 35 trucks he is doing $920 or so a day per truck/guy. His biggest overhead items are going to be labor, fuel, fertilizer and insurance. $920/day is a good gross amount for each guy in that area of the country and should leave them with a decent amount of profit. At $5.8million gross they are making a little over $1.2million in profit a year if you say is margin is 22%.

I'm curious if he's ever considered an incentive program for his employee's to help retain customers, like every time a customer returns, the employee gets an extra +1% of the sale, building up to 10% for the remainder of that customer's 'lifespan'. Doesn't sound like he needs it, but would be nice both for the employees and customers + testimonials.

That's so smart he uses aerial photography for quotes! I've worked at a company that used Google Earth for measurements which we would use to make simple 3D models of buildings/stadiums, then engineer them for cell service. Google Earth is fairly low detail though, I'm sure this company uses a much higher quality service, in fact they might have even hired the company my brother used to fly for! The more of these videos I see the insane I feel the US is. In the UK no one is ever paying more than £200/month for lawn care and that is in wealthy areas with dumb money. That is rarely the case here. More money often equates to more ego everywhere, expect in the UK that ego comes with understanding of value most of the time. You’d be lucky to get £100/month for repeat business. This is not possible. One man would be lucky to maybe make £6-5k/monthly and that is a far cry from $480k/month.

Folks, let this be a lesson that you CAN build a business WITH NO EQUIPMENT OR EXPERIENCE. MARKETING IS KEY. As long as people "believe" you can do what you say, that's often all that matters. There are many businesses that can beat out their competitors that have been around for decades just by having better ideas. There is more to it than what I just typed but that is a snippet.
@UpFlip23 күн бұрын
Marketing and belief in your service can take you far, sometimes even further than decades of experience or equipment.
@eldridge20120 күн бұрын
@@UpFlip this is true. I can actually attest to this with firsthand knowledge or experience based on taking over a position at a company for a person who had left a few months earlier who unfortunately actually had the exact same name as mine so as the sales consultant, that got a bit confusing for clients trying to discuss sales or service for them. The company that I took over the position for had roughly 30 years or more in the industry and the person that I was replacing ended up starting his own company as a direct competitor with another person and to be honest, their small company that maybe had less than a year of experience together was a better company than my company that was probably 6 to 7 times the size as far as employees for our division than their two people. Sadly, in spite of the company that I work for having Decades of experience and a lot bigger footprint in the industry, the smaller company that had been around for less than a year was better able to handle the clients then we were. It was unfortunately disheartening knowing that I was up against a competitor that was better even though they were only about 10% of the size.

I did not hear any mention of licensing. Which is very important in the majority of our states. You MUST take the approved training courses from the state and obtain your applicators license. At any moment while working someone can come by and ask you for your applicators license and if you are unable to provide one you can be reported to the state and those are BIG fines if you are applying weed control/fertilizer/bug control without a license. A couple insurance companies also require all the applicators license no. from employees as well as the registered business license no. from the state before providing you with a policy
