Helps that hating on Dark is actually better than hating on Light, because Dark is the single most common Attribute in the game, having more monsters than any other. That's pretty cool though ! Most archetypes that are based on old monsters are pretty popular (like Thunder Dragon) and they have nostalgia value as well. It's also really fun to imagine what the old vanillas could do if they had an effect and how it could represent their theme! Like a Sengenjin archetype based around equipping Millenium monsters that has a "protect the castle" playstyle, or a Manga Ryu Ran one that uses some Toon elements

Ritual monster shown in the anime and was the ace card of a Duelist Kingdom character - instant nostalgia bait archetype (hence why they've made like 4 retrains of it over the years). I could also reasonably see Shinato King of a Higher Plane becoming an archetype so that the main antagonist of the Noah arc from DM isn't trash.

This archetype can recycle sauravis as a quick effect, to use it again the same turn since it's not once per turn, plus it has some small synergy with fairies, which brings the idea to use it with diviner of heralds, to retrieve said sauravis by dumping herald.

I do. Seiyaryu's one of my favorite cards in yugioh and has been since the game came out. It also helped that I got it from a promo pack that came with a game. Beautiful - if a bit silly - artwork and a card that seems to be iconic not just with me but with a surprisingly large amount of people. Like, people having been coming up with their own Seiyaryu "what if?" support about as often as they have Black Rose Dragon support if a quick google search tells me anything. It's a very popular card in terms of "not anime or meta relevant" cards go. (Seiyaryu was in the anime, quite a bit, but I mean that while it did show up a lot it wasn't given any sort of spotlight or attention)

@@Thepokedek He still synergises with the fact that Level 7 LIGHT Dragons are supported at all; Foolish/Ravine it for reviving the Seiyaryu during your next Standby for a free 2500 body and a free pop, it's another target for Return of the Dragon Lords which can clear the opponent's backrow, and allows you that Xyz potential that you pointed out. Another recommendation would be Sauravis as a searchable handtrap, or maybe even be weird and run it with the intent of summoning it to make use of the field spell when Sauravis bounces itself by its own on-field effect, if you're feeling like playing the deck casually. (Edited to clarify one point and to add another)

Your two best choices to include other than Radiant Seiyaryu would be Arkbrave Dragon and Sauravis. Looking up the list of light LV 7 dragons also reminds me that Hyozanryu exists and the fact they turned Seiyaryu into a brand new card I wonder if they’ll do the same to ya boy Hyozanryu. It was her ace in Capsule Monsters, but that's about it. Bandit Keith used it iirc and it appeared to a lesser extent in a few other places.

I like this idea of taking old ass cards and making something interesting out of them. It's not like Konami doesn't have hundreds to choose from. Maybe one day there will be some sort of retrain of Gate Guardian that isn't a waste of paper.
