I work for a power company and we have always used a drum style head but we went with a Diamond SK Disc Mulcher Pro X. Cuts up to a 14'" tree . Also can be matched to a low flow hydraulic system. From what our ride of way guys say it does a really great job in the type of brush like you have.

Check out the disk style mulcher…diamond makes a sweet one. Very quick at mulching. Leaves slightly biggget chunks than the drum style fecon you were talking about and seem to be cheaper from the little I dreamed I needed one

I recommend nyloc nuts for the hydraulic motor bolts. They are fairly inexpensive and will not vibrate loose. I like them better than double nuts. Most hardware stores have them.

Skidloader attachments are wonderful. There must be hundreds now ...depending on your power and hydraulic-flow. At first I was skeptical, but the LCB side door allows safe entry and exit in mid-job regardless of where the arm is.

Oddly satisfying seeing that intrusive brush being eliminated. I enjoyed the process since I used to struggle through the exact same stuff when I hunted here in Ohio. That briar grabbing ahold of your leg and finger brought back some painful memories. LOL
@chipperseymer65032 жыл бұрын
I would look at a grazon crossbow mix. Grazon would work better than 24D on the more woody stuff. Maybe look into Brash chemical. It’s a broadleaf brush killer as well. In my experience 24D doesn’t do as well with brush and young saplings.
@ianhaggart14382 жыл бұрын
Good job.. fire wood for winter to ? Cattle must be thinking that yellow thing isn't half noisy and hungry look at what's it is eating 🤔 🤣😄. Like the idea of that on a skidsteer but maby not my one.. not windows etc 😬 . Stay safe 🏴

Will you have fewer deer to hunt now that habitat is thinned? Have you ever tested your underground water wells for lead? Finally the limiting factor on brush cutters seem to be flow rate of the tractor. Perhaps you could rent a brute of a machine to take down the big trees.

I was driving along a relatively busy highway and saw a guy with a JCB teleskid and a brush mower mowing his ditches. PSA: NEVER point the mower towards the road. I don't think anything happened, but those mowers can turn a 3 inch tree trunk into a 3 inch thick, foot long bullet. Always point your mower away from roads and buildings.

I love watching your drone views of your machine cleaning up all that wasted ground that you pay taxes on. I would consider unrolling some of your poorer hay in those areas and let the cattle eat and tromp that into those areas. The bales will have seed in them and with the urine and manure you will be building up the soil and establishing pasture. The woods would provide shelter in the fall and spring and let your barn areas dry out.
