That was very helpful, thanks. I'v e struggled a bunch with tessellation for Quixel materials. If you can also make a tutorial about how to eliminate tiling completely - this will be awesome. I wathed many tutroials and purhcased some auto materials from the market, still it is not possible to get rid of tiling completely. I have found a function that some one wrote that does random rotation of the tiles. It kind of works for one material, but again I can't implement it for layered materials.

I just waited til you pulled the window up ;) The tesselation amount is what i needed to see really but i do wish this was done natively, it's the one part of megascans that doesn't seem to export to any platform, i came from Octane and C4D and you have to build the displacement there too :( Thanks though! I did learn what i needed!

Hey man! Thanks for this video. It actually helped a lot. Just one small note, next time please have what you're doing on screen as well. For example when you were changing values, we couldn't see on screen what values you were changing..

@@MR3DDev Thanks a lot :) If you don't mind I have a suggestion for a video... I'm very new to Unreal Engine and Megascans so sorry if there is something already out there... I can't seem to figure out a way to use different surface materials from Bridge on the same landscape. For example, If I wanted to use two different surfaces (1. Grass and 2. Sand) on the same landscape, how do I do this? I made a custom material which basically has the albedo's of each material as a layer, but then I don't have the tessellation options and other stuff. Thank you and sorry for being a pain.

@@AnujPatwariTV This is definetly coming down the pipeline, there is a more advance way to setup surfaces as a landscape material to do exactly what you need hope you stick around for that :) Also you are not being a pain, I love questions and suggestions

Awesome walkthrough, I'd been looking for something exactly like this! I'd love to see a tutorial on painting with this kind of texture. I know the basics of setting up materials for painting but I'm not sure how to get all these displacement/tessellation settings working when I want to put multiple textures on the landscape.

Thank you for this tutorial :) I am wondering what settings you recommend for Download and Export from within Bridge. I noticed that the current version of Bridge has many more settings options, including various LODs, High Poly Source, Brushes, over twice as many Textures (21 instead of 9), etc.. I also don't have a "UV Controls" section in the details panel of my surface material from Megascans and the Tessellation controls are very different (maybe because I am using UE 4.26). For instance, Tessellation is located under Displacement, and the only options I see are "Distance Offset, Distance Fade, Tessellation Multiplier, Useless," and then a separate checkbox with just "Displacement Amount." Albedo Tint is also different.

They love to change everything. I got a paid tutorial from summer last yr. Everything is different on bridge now. Nightmare. Prob best download them all. I tried to download a roman statue at "highest LOD" (4million triangles).. my comp crashed. LOD 0 was fine

be sure about the displacement maps options are ticked when you are setting download options on quixel before download.

The problem with teselation is that the height maps will not have any collisions so if you plan to make a game your character will just walk through the height map

Great video. I'm having an issue though following along as I don't see UV controls in my texture editing window. Any ideas what is going on? For reference, I'm using the Icelandic Rock Surface.

Ok, so after enabling the displacement in the plugin, the surface doesn't show up in the viewport when I drag and drop it onto any surface, any idea why this happens?

How to add already downloaded megascan material from our C-Drive(megascan library) to content browser?I tried it but i can only add textures of them but i want default material by itself.

I'm having a problem with adding Megascans materials Inst to the slots in the plugin window in UE4. From Bridge I downloaded the 3 different materials and then exported them with UE4 preset. Materials came as Instances. When I try to add any of them to the plugin slots it turns in red dashline but when I drag a master material I have no problem. Any ideas how to fix that? Thanks.

I can't find it either, I managed to get it to work by changing the tiling/Offset 'Tiling X' and 'Tiling Y' (Not the ones under Detail Normal Tiling)

The lighting here is very simple, dynamic, raytraced directional light with temperature of 5300

There are 2 ways to go about it (that come to mind) One would be to create a landscape mesh for that specific spot you want, another one would be to use a layer blend material so you can paint the material on that spot and have something different for the rest. Jpeg is too compress and other files like TGA or EXR are really big so PNG is a happy medium.

Hi Tech, I have a problem. So yesterday I made a landscape and added a material, and then got to sleep (in real life). But today when I got on unreal engine it opened the examplelandscape but not my landscape that I made (my map that I made is in the folder 'maps'), and then I looked to the materials that I imported yesterday but they are like 'not 3d' (displacement is enabled). I save my game by file ---> save all -----> and then I made and saved it in a map folder. Do you know how to fix that?

The tessellation shows on the material preview but the landscape itself in the main view remains flat. Increasing the value simply makes the entire landscape mesh 'rise' in the z-axis, still flat. Any ideas why it doesn't work on the Landscape mesh?

The displacement usually depends on the type of textures you are using, not every megascan plays well with displacement

even though i check the "enable displacement" option in megascans plug-in window, i cant manage to reach tesellation settings in the material instance. im this close to go insane.. it seems like exporting with displacement option is broken for me. i tried to create displacement manually in master material with the help of another tutorial, it works very weird and i cant create displacement..

There is a bug in bridge with this in version 24 and 25, 26 not available yet. I have been trying to troubleshoot this issue for 2 days and nothing is working

"Landscape isn't plug and play" Honestly surprised Epic hasn't changed that yet. Personally, having to set up landscape materials by hand is currently one of my biggest complaints, especially when there's great materials available that I want to use immediately.

I agree, the issue is landscape materials can be significantly different from proyect to proyect which is why I don't think Epic will ever make it standard. That being said, you can create 1 master landscape material and reuse it as many times as you need.

Hey man. For some reason when I click on the mega scan ui it brings up a different screen than you had and it’s very small with only two options. I wasn’t sure if maybe I have the wrong thing.

@@MR3DDev Yeah Sure! So when mouse over the green Megascans icon at the top of unreal, It says "Megascans LiveLink UI" Then when I click on it instead of opening a menu where I can change information about displacement or other options, it opens a small window with only two options. Here is a link to a screenshot I took. imgur.com/gallery/HtSQXCt I am updating to unreal 4.24 because I realized that I was on 4.18 so maybe If I reinstall the bridge pluggin it will be fixed but I'm not sure yet :) Anyway, any help would be awesome!

Hello TechYK, First off, thank you so much for your videos. Second, I ran across a problem. When I downloaded an asset from Quixel Bridge into a folder within the Content Directory of my project, I was greeted to a data table popup which looked like this: help.quixel.com/hc/user_images/7-IAVYysscbKTkRnpirGqg.png And some of the important files are there, but there is no material ready for placement. Any ideas?

@@MR3DDev Oh, nice! I think I got it now! Thanks! :D I seem to have one more issue though. When I apply the material to a landscape, it seems to be missing the textures and it's just one dull color. Any ideas? *Update: I created a new level project and the issue no longer occurred. Perhaps it was a lighting issue? I'm still not entirely sure. Thank you for all your help this far!

Hi! i have one question. In your very first video about quixelbridge and UE kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGero4BshLmBg7M in the 14:47 I can see the material instance same way I see it in my computer, but in the rest of the videos there is some change so I actually cant follow in the right way the tutorial. I think you've change the parent material from quixel but don't know how to do it to have the same as you. For example I cant see the uv's control or the tesselation the same way so it's working different. thanks for the videos because there are the only ones I can understand and follow! if you can solve my doubt it would be amazing, thankss!!

Hey, I have UE 4.25 and no tesselation menu, it ends at 7 and starts with 00 (global) but no tessellation. Is it moved anywhere? No idea..

There are ways to do it with micro and macro variations through various nodes in the master material, this was just the basics for newcomers to the Megascans
