Wow, I was just watching old streams about Quixel Megascans and the topic of trees came up. You guys kept smiling saying it's in the work and now they are finally here. Can't wait to get my hands on these!

Having been gaming since the early-90s, it used to be difficult to imagine what gaming was going to look like in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years... Now we're being shown the future of the artform all the time, between these insanely detailed assets and things like AI research in computer graphics-procedural character animations and the like. A decade from now it's going to be standard to see near-photo realistic scenes with countless entities and dynamic animations that weren't scripted. Amazing stuff. Work like this is incredible.

The first and second clips, I'm not sure if it's real or Unreal (no pun intended lol!). Third aerial clip starting at 13:00 it's got to be Unreal - by the way the grass, or maybe the textures, on the mountains in the distance look. Shot at 17:00 , looks like it's from Unreal by looking at the perfect motion blur, the way the trees cast shadows in the background, the mountains and the tonality of the sky. There's something fake to the eye there, but the foreground looks 95% photo-realistic, to me at least. But if the first and second shots are indeed from UE, this is incredible! It looks like a subtle color graded shot from a drone, and if that's Unreal, then that animation is amazing.

2 things have always been my go-to for telling me just how good the artistry is in video games: Water and trees. Many aspects of water have pretty well been mastered. Now it appears trees have as well. I can't even begin to imagine all the places we'll see the fruits of all this hard work. I just know I very much look forward to enjoying it.

Speedtree is shaking :D Hope you would also have a standalone app to generate procedural trees. Please go to the Philippines, scan tropical trees (banana, coconut, etc) hehe

Finally! The season and the health shaders are awesome! Publishing the black alder as a first asset pack is a wise decision, as you can use it in many different scenarios. My wishlist for the next trees: Scots Pine tree, Birch tree, Oak tree.

Awesome, I've been waiting for so long for a in-house/quixel/epic solution for trees ! The 'octahedral impostors' are a great and solid addition, and I wish there was a in-engine solution for any mesh in the future. (As a side option other than Nanite, options are always good). Anyway, great job guys !

I imagine however that everything only needs to be done once right? I mean once the vegetation part is finished it's literally finished right? A palm tree will forever be a palm tree. Same for rocks and what not.
