Quoridor Pac-Man Review with Tom & Zee

I was excited this game came out. Quoridor is a great game. Its simplicity and startegy should make it among classic games. Had my doubts how Pac-man would work.

Much cool if you play and know the concepts first the classic game of "Fox and Geese" to feel the new game.

It's a good starter game for younger players. To try to sell this to adults as 2 full games in nonsense.

After playing the game a few times we did find that actually the ghosts seem to have the advantage if they play optimally. Ghosts just need to focus on tapping in pacman after the pellet (rather than "chasing" him). Our gameplay loop ended up being that pacman always gets 1 pellet, then gets cornered. Since there are 4 pellets but pacman only has 3 lives this means the ghosts always win. However, if they mess up just once then it's game over. Regardless, this doesn't really change your review very much. The game is still "scripted" in a sense, and not particularly replayable.

This is a great coffee table game, but not much else. Yeah the pac man variant is busted, but the main game is a decent way to kill 15 minutes if you dont gave Santorini/Hive/Onitama/Chess within reach.

Seems a bit harsh to give this 3/4 when you can still play it using the regular Quoridor rules. If this was pacman only then it would be fair, but as far as i can tell you might still consider this if you don't own the OG Quoridor?
