if ya wanna know then look down, spoilers also Chae Hae-In wanted to join, and there was a test, fighting the strongest shadow. Jin-Woo didn't want to traumatize her so he used Igris instead of Beru, But Chae wanted Beru after defeating Igris. Beru fought with Chae but was stopped by Jin-Woo because he got the intent to kill as that is what he was born for. Jin-Woo asks Chae why she wants to join so badly and asks if she was interested in him, in which she says yes, so Jin-Woo says that she wouldn't really be cut out for it, hence not joining Edit: I might be wrong with some parts so correct me if i am
