A very nuanced answer. I think I agree. Who am I to judge my neighbor? At best, I will love; at worst, I will love.

In my opinion, if someone devotes themselves to God, they are Muslim. No, they may not be "Islamic" Muslims... But those genuinely praying for God's guidance will not be left astray. I have noticed that while specifics may differ from religion to religion, the core is always the same. Do not steal, do not do harm to yourself or others, be truthful, do not be greedy, have sexual self-control (celibacy, non-adulterousness, etc...), and take austerities to become closer to God (fasting, giving things up, taking a pilgrimage, accept hardship, etc...). They all also tell you to study scripture and reflect on your own behaviors, to surrender to a higher power (Various conceptions of God here), to be content with what you have, and to aim towards purity of self. Religions all call for compassion, and forgiveness, to do what is right and avoid what is wrong. Additionally, all religions have prayer, meditation, and mantra repetition as a central part of their religious practice. The similarities are so striking to me, that I cannot help but believe that it is God who is guiding those who are genuinely seeking. A Muslim to me is then one who genuinely seeks and practices.

A Muslim to me is someone that says the shaddah, everything else is done by nonbelievers in Islam. I am Christian and i love Jesus, Muslims say they love Jesus but they hate infidels and consider Christians infidels. Lots of Muslims have said we (Muslims) love Jesus more than you (Christians) do. This is false, Christians devote their lives to Christ and not just see Him as a prophet. We see Him (Jesus) as God. How can you see that Christ was born of a virgin in the Quran and not see something more special about Jesus.

Mahmoot had a beard and a moustache as well. So this man is not really fit to pronounce on what is truly muslim or not. I suspect he lives in a non -Muslim country so he has abandoned the concept of the righteous land and come to live in a degenerate land. The question then becomes - does he have any authority to pronounce on Islam?

Could you please explain further?

@@khantk2732 The point about the moustache is trivial really, me being petty. The 'true' Muslim man is expected to have full facial hair, just like mahommed - that was my point there. And of course the whole vid is all about 'what is a Muslim?' and acknowledges that there is endless debate so whether or not this man SHOULD have a moustache is also debatable. It goes on and on. (So much for the Koran having all the answers.) My second point is not trivial. This man lives and practices in liberal, secular Canada. I presume this video is made there too. He chooses a non-Muslim country over a Muslim country yet Islam dictates that all the laws needed for human behaviour are pronounced in the Koran, so there is no need for democracy or human discussion to make laws. He takes the advantages offered by the liberal west to espouse a doctine that contradicts all those advantages. How can he consider himself an authority when he lives in a non-Muslim country and takes advantage of its non-Muslim ways?

@@markcarey8426 Thanks for your clarification. As regards the first point, sahih bukhari and sahih muslim report, 'Let the beard grow and TRIM the moustache'. So it is actually recommended not to allow the moustache grow.

@@khantk2732 Narrated Ibn ‘Umar: Allah’s Apostle (saw) said, “Trim the moustaches short and grow the beard.” ’ (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 72, Number 781) So it's not no moustache at all but a trimmed moustache. Yet this man who considers himself an authority has no moustache at all. How can he pronounce on what others should do or beleive when he is in defiance himself? Also I understand the prophet had an issue with his moustache because someone called Kalidas burnt part of it, so this mistakenly became interpreted as a model of behaviour.

@@markcarey8426 There are actually conflicting opinions. Al-Shawkaani said in Nayl al-Awtar (1/148): Many of the salafs including Imam Abu Haneefa and Imam Ahmad are of view that it may be shaved off. Conversely, Imam Malik and Imam Shaafa'i deemed it impermissible.
