17:00 I can explain this one! In some jurisdictions in the US, you can't legally sell alcohol by itself at concerts/festivals/etc; however, you can sell a "meal" that includes both food and an alcoholic beverage. For anyone that experiences what happens at 2:00 , remember to go to your local DOT (department of transportation) for your state and talk to an inspector there. They'd be interested in hearing about mechanics shops ripping off people like this, since they can revoke that shop's license for doing so, if I remember correctly. Mileage may vary from state to state, as I only had (second) hand experience with my own state's DOT. My granny got in touch with them after a mechanic shop ripped her off like in the video, and last I heard, the mechanic that worked on her vehicle at the shop was fired, because the owner was not about to risk his business going down due to that mechanic's actions. She also only had to pay what she had actually come in for (an oil change) and not all the extra shit they had tacked on.

@jnharton Жыл бұрын
They could utilize a cord on a brick design, but that would add cost and go against the convention. -- Also, these bricks did almost always have actual transformers in them, things have simply changed over time. Lightweight ones utilizing switching power supply circuitry (SMPS?) and other modern designs are /actually/ a fairly new thing (last 10 years maybe? possibly 15?). -- As an aside, part of the "issue" is that these designs came into existence back when power strips/surge protectors were far less common (think 1940-1970). Most people just plugged them into a wall outlet. The vertical design can go in the bottom of a 2-plug outlet, leaving the top plug free for a light, vacuum cleaner, etc. The horizontal design accomodates the possibility for two power bricks in the same 2-plug outlet.

8:48 One of the actual reasons that paying every month instead of once or twice a year is an 'Employee' must process the payment (even if that 'Employee' is a computer program) and needs to be paid for their work and/or there is a Transaction Fee involved in moving your money from your account to their account. But the MOST honest reason for the extra cost is because you wanting to pay in a non-industry-standard way is an excuse they can use to claw more money out of you... The Insurance Industry is a MASSIVELY Greedy beast that make the Pre-Christmas Ghost Scrooge look like the Universes best Philanthropist... 😄😁😆😅😂🤣

Related to The Skillshare One, there's one pharmacist on the pharmacy that we usually go that doesn't tell you how much is everything until after you say you'll take the stuff (as in, after she registers the purchase and marks the products, which sometimes imply cutting off the barcode of the boxes, so no take backs). None of her co-workers do that, so we keep going there, but it's usually really annoying when this person is behind the counter.

@FordGTmaniac Жыл бұрын
@@driftliketokyo34ftw35 Glad I opted to click to see replies, I was about to say the exact same thing. I own a Sega Genesis along with the CD and 32X add-ons, and *all* of them need to be plugged in simply to use the Genesis by itself once they're all connected. A three-way power adapter made like a laptop charger would've been a no-brainer for that setup, but Sega never made one.
@Roxor128 Жыл бұрын
Mandatory vertical orientation would be the simplest solution. There are already power boards with extra spacing between sockets that assume vertical orientation, anyway.

8:10 - If you get enough of those on one grid, you can pop the breaker anyway. So sure, that surge protector isn't using all the slots... but depending on what you plug into it, you might not want to use them all anyway. The best I've seen (in person) was that we figured out all the outlets for the living room was on the same breaker as the microwave. We found out by having the TV on, 6.1 speaker system, I think like 9 phones charging, and someone turned on the microwave. We had to move all but two phones into bedrooms to stop tripping the breaker every time the microwave was turned on. He later also found out, that butting a space heater on one of the outlets and turning on the microwave would also pop the breaker.

I still remember some early winter a few years back...when my father dimmed the heater...the house is a dungeon with only 3 light fixtures, all of the rest of the house is lit with desk/table lamps on switched outlets...so you get half of the outlets that you paid for...he plugged the heater into the TOP outlet with the dimmer switch...BANG! the dimmer switch was hot and the room was now dark. This was about 30 years after the pinch roller fell off of my boombox when I was 6 years old and it started playing cassette tapes too fast...so I then plugged the boombox into the same dimmed NEMA 5-15 R socket and dimmed the boombox so I could hear the tape at nomal speed (I was 6 years old at the time).
@hermanphilips4617 Жыл бұрын
@@brentfisher902 Interesting. But I can understand why it caused a surge and thus problems. Heaters need a lot of power... a dimmer restricts power. Not a great combo... something would have to fail. A lot of heaters have a dimmer built in, but they are properly built to deal with the amperage demand. Would be interesting to dismantle the casette player in the boombox to see what happened to it. Usually motors get fried, not speed boosted... but maybe the speed regulator for the motor got fried, the the power was shorting past to run at full speed. As for low lighting, I understand... the house I mentioned doesn't have any lights installed in the living room. And before LEDs, they couldn't use outlet lamps... again, because all wired together with the microwave.

If you aren't renting the place...just get radio tape at the dollar store...it's used to create a Faraday cage around something that makes RF noise...it's aluminum foil with a paper backing and the side of the aluminum foil facing the backing is sticky. Stick it to the window like you are mowing the lawn or plowing a field. Now the only thing that gets into there (through the glass part) will possibly be gamma rays...however...if the window surface area is a large portion of the wall surface area...you radio/TV reception will suffer...If you don't mind a little bit of light coming in, use the vinyl cutter craft plastic and stick it to the window...radio waves will fly right through...however it won't be dark enough for loading a film developing tank at that point.
