34:26 I'm reminded of a story, but I can't remember where I heard it from. A man passed away, and his daughter kept getting phone calls about one of his accounts with a company. The daughter tried explaining to the company that her father was deceased, and his account should be closed. But the company insisted that they needed permission from the deceased father to close the account. She kept getting calls, and she was told each time that they can't close the account without speaking to her father. Even though she'd made it very clear he was dead. So she got fed up, and walked into one of their offices, requesting to close the account. When she was again told they need her father's permission...she reached into her bag, and pulled out and urn and a ouiga board. She made a big dramatic scene, asking her father's spirit to send a sign from the afterlife that he consented to close the account. She kept it up until the manager came over to intervene, because she was drawing attention from other customers. In the end, the manager admitted defeat and agreed to close the account for her.

About the "peculiar" food servings, the nutritional facts related to them, the terms and conditions to avoid suing from poisoned customers and the juice "not juice": as a veterinarian who studied European food safety and regulations, I can tell you that those are all typical FDA (USA) bs. The FDA approach is basically "you company can do whatever you want, if someone sues you then deal with it how you like". In the EU on the other hand the approach is "you food company are legally responsible for guaranteeing the safety of what you produce, together with the farmers and the supermarkets (and all the rest of the chain involved), until it reaches the table of the customer; if something happens to them, you are in deep shit". This to explain that those things aren´t possible to write on a product in the EU because they would be at least immediately denounced by food inspectors (vets usually) as scams, not to mention that the responsibility for food poisoning by contamination due to production failures is considered a penal crime, meaning you´re going to prison for it, because it´s considered endangerment of public safety. That´s basically the same charge as if you would put a building purposely on fire. So yeah, the Americans love to complain about there being "too many rules in Europe" but the truth is, that those rules are keeping us safer and healthier.

@InternetsDadGaming2 жыл бұрын
Well on tech it's less that the sticker is legally binding but the actual warranty itself can have stipulations about opening an item and the sticker is how they can tell you opened it, therefore you voided the warranty by opening it
@Atelierwanwan2 жыл бұрын
@@InternetsDadGaming Not in countries like Australia with the ACL. They can stipulate anything they want but it can't overrule something like the ACL. Removing a sticker has no relation to a device not working as reasonably expected so the customer has the right to refund/repair/replacement when it breaks down. Other places like America has it's own laws but I'm pretty sure it's a similar situation, the sticker is just a deterrent as 4 out of 5 people will abide by the sticker rule.
@InternetsDadGaming2 жыл бұрын
@@Atelierwanwan I didn't consider international law, and that is my bad, but in the good ole US of A we have next to no right to repair protections, merely opening a device CAN violate a warranty if they put the stipulations in there for it.
@Atelierwanwan2 жыл бұрын
@@InternetsDadGaming I thought I'd heard otherwise at some point but perhaps I'm wrong, I only know a little. It does remind me of the Warcraft 3 Reforged situation where Blizzard claimed that playing the game voids your right to refund, which is like saying opening the box on your brand new toaster voids warranty before you've even found out if it actually works or not. Australians and I think people in some other countries were able to force refunds if they pushed the point due to our laws on refunds but Americans were just screwed. So, I guess it's totally expected that if some company claims the removal of a sticker voids warranty they could probably get away with it over there. I doubt it would actually hold up in court because you still have laws about reasonable use and such. A lot more expensive than just buying a new one at that point though.

Also none of the "void if seal is broken" is true here. Weirdly enough, a company's terms and conditions or EULA isn't above law. I laugh every time on Steam or Epic Games it says that, even though by law you can return any online purchase within 14 days, you can no longer do that if you've played a game for more than 2h (which on many modern games is the length of the forced tutorial).

Those “mirrors” remind me of this one thing I heard about. This woman went on “Shark Tank” to pitch this, initially. Everyone passed on it, then she went quiet. It’s a mirror for dressing rooms in shops that sell clothes. It works like a subtle funhouse mirror and makes you appear slimmer than you actually are so when you try on clothes they look better on you in the mirror than they might actually look in real life. So, you’re more likely to buy the things you’re trying on because you feel great about how you look in them. I’ve never seen anything where the creator has explicitly said that she’s been selling any of these mirrors but she hasn’t denied it, either. Because her item is aimed at businesses and not the public at large she could be selling these mirrors like hotcakes and there’s no way to know for sure which businesses are buying them. Know your body and if you do try clothes on at a store be aware that there could be one of these mirrors in there and if something looks noticeably better on you than you suspect it should either pass on it or have a mirror of your own at home, try the clothes on AGAIN and if it doesn’t look as good as it looked at the store, return it. NEVER remove any tags until you’re sure you’re keeping the item(s), save your receipt(s) and NEVER shop at a place that won’t let you return clothes within a certain time frame with a receipt (with the exception of undergarments and swimwear, for everyone’s health and safety). Our one prof was like, “not that I know anything about it but if you go here and type this in you may find a useful pdf” because the university had strict guidelines on it. Another had the TA send us the PDF link😂 Most of my profs that had required readings were really good about photocopying them or sending them to us for free and when I was a graduate TA I photocopied so many things for students so they didn’t have to buy the book. I don’t think I bought a textbook after second or maybe third year and I did 6 years between my degrees. At least at my university it was the actual school trying to gouge us, not the profs (unless they were doing the bare minimum of their job and I was fortunate to have few of those) so most were more than happy to skirt around the rules.

I am a digital/traditional artist, and I use Clip Studio Paint for my digital drawings. Clip Studio Paint was one of the best drawing programs due to being a one-time purchase, as well of being an incredible drawing program. After around a decade, CSP will upgrade from version 1.0 to version 2.0. To upgrade from version 1.0 to 2.0 you need to purchase another "perpetual license", and version 1.0 won't be updated anymore (it will get bug fixes). However the shittiest thing is that to update version 2.0 (after you have bought the new perpetual license) you need to purchase a monthly "update pass". CSP is becoming the same as Photoshop and it's really sad.
@SpringStarFangirl2 жыл бұрын
I've done some research about this (fellow CSP user) and 2.0 will also get bug fixes, the subscription is for early access to the new features. The new features will come default with 3.0, so I would assume it won't take quite so long to get from 2.0 to 3.0. Admittedly I'm also disappointed, but unless you're looking to get all the feature updates as they are released, you're fine just sticking to 1.0 or 2.0. Personally, I'm not even sure if I'd get 2.0, I guess it depends on the new features.

And this confused my father (who mostly keep tracks of the/their economy), and when he/they found out I was also present and being the only somewhat tech-‘wiz’ at the house I was the one to then call, I think it was Apple, to request the money back (and I think maybe also the cancellation of the subscription, tho I don’t remember), and thankfully we were able to get the money back, but both my dad and I were really eyeing my mom for quite awhile after that 😂.

Food ordering app secret: Those service apps charge the RESTAURANT around 30% on any purchases made to their menus. The restaurant then needs to rise the price of food items on the app so they don't actively lose money and go out of business. They also can't avoid being on the app because of the sheer amount of people using them now and especially in the wake of shutdown, else they would lose up to/around 50% of their customers. With inflation creating issues for the basics like rent and food cost not just for the average person but businesses as well, it's honestly better to support the businesses you like by visiting them in person.
