Steve, you’re so fluent in the languages that I want to learn: Japanese, French and Chinese. I’m Vietnamese and I’m able to communicate comfortably in English, due to studying for my Bachelor’s degree in the USA. Now I’m studying for my graduate school in Japan and I’m learning Japanese. Really interesting to listen to you guys in Japanese!

Then you better follow my language learning method then. Spending 5 years learning Japanese in Vietnam (started when I was 25 years old), now I can speak Japanese as good as Steve, and will continue to improve past his current level in the future. I do offer paid classes also

Saludos! Otro Argentino por acá también estudiando Japonés. So far, 2 years for me and I was able to understand most of the interview.
I know little about Japanese language but I sometimes read Japanese literature which is written by Japanese author. I usually have one original Japanese Version and a Chinese translated version too. This made my reading journey a lot more fun because I find it intriguing to see Japanese also use the same words ( such as 成语 from ancient time) as the Chinese and I often learn something new when I find out oh! Japanese also use this words? ! It’s interesting. I like to make a comparison to find out the similarities in words. I often find so many

Steve you're a genius, you're an excellent polyglot because of your talent to learn several languages. I really like what you do. Kazuma and you have a breathtaking conversational style and that still amazes me. Japanese remains like one of the World's hardest languages to learn and fit due to its three writing systems and other aspects. Besides it isn't one of my target languages. Anyhow, learning any language requires plenty of time, effort, motivation, discipline and much more. Keep up the great work with your language learning journey, Steve and Kazuma. 😊💯
Got 6/8 of those languages in common with Kazu 😂 language learning is so fun! It can become somewhat addicting 🤭 Glad to hear language learning is becoming more important in Japan!!!!!

I wonder since when you've been learning other languages as your very first time? I realise that acquiring loads of languages will be very useful for me so I've been interested in languages since my twenties and I think it's kind of too late for me.

Tous mes encouragements

I’m a language nerd, too. I speak Japanese and English fluently, as well as the Japanese Sign Language. I also speak some German, Spanish and Portuguese. I like Arabic, too, but I’m not sure if I can master how to read and write. It seems very difficult. As for Indonesian, I just memorized a few phrases through a five-minute program that was broadcast for a week over 10 years ago. あれ、私はフランス語は話せないのに、カズさんがフランス語で話した時ちょっとわかりました。How weird.

I like the way Japanese say 'hi' or whatever it is. Very sweet. What interests me in languages is the shape of the mouth and the posture of the whole body: it's all part of the gestalt of the language. Japanese seems very 'small mouth' to me: i.e. not much movement of the lips or tongue. It seems restrained in its movements. Just as some dance forms move the body side to side and others move the body up and down, ... well, languages seem to me like that. So Japanese sounds more up and down. Silly remark, I'm sure. I can listen to foreign languages all day for the sound - actually, I often prefer not to know what is being said. BTW, the captions did not match the language: the young man's french (which sounded quite good to me) was labeled Spanish.
