People sexualise Breastfeeding a baby are insanely out of touch or closet perves I swear! My dad yelled at me after my niece was born because mid conversation my sister had to feed my newborn niece and casually started Breastfeeding like a normal mother would, but I didn't leave the room or turn away to give her privacy. My sister and I looked at him and laughed it off then she went on to explain we were mid conversation, I was mid sentence when she started Feeding my niece, and she's my sister so it's not like she was worried I ogle her breasts just because they were out (helps that I am also a gay male). Even better was my sister had the feeding blanket for privacy but specifically said "So glad I don't need to use this right now, it's way to warm for her (my niece)" to let me know she was comfortable feeding in front of me.
@diamondseraph9369 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Like, if I were a mother I wouldn't feel comfortable breastfeeding in public/in front of people...but that's just because I don't feel comfortable with that kind of thing at all. I don't even like showing off the skin of my _THIGHS_ because I'm just not comfortable showing skin. And even then that's primarily because growing up society has told me that showing skin is sexual/attractive/like showing off my body and I don't know if it's because I'm asexual or what but that just makes me uncomfortable so I've just always been rather conservative to the point that I always wear things underneath my dresses and stuff even when it's floor length. It's stupid that society sexualizes literally everything about women _ESPECIALLY_ breastfeeding since that's probably one of the _LEAST_ sexual things about us! You're just feeding a baby it shouldn't be such a big deal.

@@diamondseraph9369 I do want to say, I feel similarly about showing off my body even if for different reasons (I even wear camis over my bra & under my shirt, and ladyboxers over my undies, even in pants), BUT once my kid needed to eat, she NEEDED TO EAT & I had no shame. 😂 I mean, I wasn't a "expose both boobas while nursing" mom, I was very discreet (nursing tank under a t-shirt ftw) AND she was in her sling 98% of the time while eating (cuz once she was outta the newborn stage, I had things to do 😁), but when she was hungry, she ate, & woe to the idiot who tried to say anything. Early on, I was waiting for the bus when she was hungry, & it was the 1st time I'd had to feed her in public, so I found a bench in the terminal that was kind of behind a wall to sit & feed her. An elderly woman approached me & as I started to worry that I was gonna have to stand up for my kid's right to eat, she stopped in front of me, patted me on the hand & said, "you're a really good mom", which honestly kinda made me cry a bit. And thankfully, I had very few encounters with idiots while we were on our "nursing journey". 😊 Also, wearing a nursing tank in a similar color as your shirt makes things a LOT less obvious. And I have big boobas (which got bigger while nursing, obv), but a baby's head is fricken HUGE; at no time was my nerple exposed & cuz the tank was the same color as my shirt, it honestly just looked like I was holding my baby, not feeding her. I had even surprised a couple people who came over to coo over the baby, cuz they didn't realize I was feeding her. This was especially amusing the time I was shopping & my kid was just big enough to nurse without outside help, so she was snacking away in her sling whilst I shopped & some random dude came over & started to pull her sling back a bit to peek at her (the idea that people (& dependent offspring) become public property & it's assumed to be totes fine to touch & comment on them upon the moment a visable uterine bump is established is a WHOOOOOLE other issue 🙄) & he freaked himself out when he realized she was eating. It happened so fast I didn't even have time to react, but he was so apologetic that I bet he NEVER tried that again! 😂 ANYWAY, the point of this dissertation was just to say, don't sweat it; if you decide to have kids and decide to nurse them, there are plenty of options available to make it easier to do without being obvious that you're doing it and/or exposing yourself, thank goodness. Cuz in no way would my kid tolerate a cover of any kind, and even though I had been pumping & bottle feeding (she had some issues at birth, so it took her a month to figure out how to latch properly), once she figured out how to properly nurse, she wouldn't even consider a bottle - it was straight from the tap or nothing. 🤣

"pregnant with twins means she's cheating" I'm pretty sure this guy heard like an ancient greek myth where Zeus' shenanigans with a married woman resulted in twins where one was a demigod and was like "yep, that makes enough sense for me" and based his entire worldview around it. Also, can somebody please ask these "freshness seal" advocates what they think a period is? I'm desperate to know how they think it works if they believe there is an impenetrable barrier in the way.
@kathleenwoods8416 Жыл бұрын
Well, its mostly about making the human body out to be moral proof of that admittedly narrow world view. I'm half way certain that someone whose already convinced themselves of that isn't really thinking about the use of the body outside of those desires and expectations anyway. Its like how the ancient Greeks didn't think mothers were related to their children, the moral, social & financial values of that society became the way they viewed biology to the point that even modern acknowledgements of matrilineal influence are treated with suspicion. For someone who thinks a 'freshness seal' is a thing in nature, the rest of human biology might be viewed that way. As suspicious because it isn't morally convenient to them.

As a biologist I would recommend everyone to ask simple but important questions to your partners. Like what causes menstruation, how humans reproduce. If that person can't answer questions like that correctly, maybe they shouldn't let those genes live on. Or at least they should educate themselves before getting into a relationship. Just think of that woman with the twins and how she must have felt when she found out she had married a complete airhead.
@hollyleavves Жыл бұрын
The rabbithole of genetics is so deep its making me go insane in a good way. Gender euphoria but make it ✨scientific✨ Fun fact: some folks in medieval times used to think women where "half-made men" that needed more time cookin' in the womb. Case in point: magdalena muñoz was a nun infamous in her convent for being a 'tomboy' (in an anachronistic sense). She fell sick with fever and developed a manhood after three days. Over the span of a week, their voice got lower and grew a beard. Muñoz was oficially declared male and became his father's heir.

You'd think a biologist would know that education isn't genetic. I don't know what causes menstruation, and I find it absolutely absurd that you would imply that's a sign that I'm so stupid, I shouldn't reproduce.
@luluzin502210 ай бұрын
@@Friend- I don't think OP was literal when they said "they shouldn't let those genes live on". Their argument was more on the lines of: if you're a cis man who doesn't know basic biology when it comes to the female human body, you are not mentally ready to have a child. Pregnancy is a very difficult process for many women, they need to go to the doctor regularly and such. So if the baby's father is not able to support her because of his lack of knowledge, he won't be a very good partner and father. Imagine the stress of having to explain to your husband that twins are not a sign of cheating while you are pregnant of twins. If you don't know what causes menstruation, a quick google search or a biology book should be able to educate you. That doesn't mean you are stupid and your genes are rotten. But if I had been born with an uterus (I am a cis man), I wouldn't want a boyfriend who doesn't understand what a period is. For the same reason I would never date a flat earther, for example.

Like, no? I was not ready for children at 8 thank you very much. Yes I do think that teenagers getting breast reductions because they are a DD at 14 is good for them. No the stretch marks all over my body (hips, breasts, thighs etc.) are not because I'm fat, my Skinsuit just didn't like my rapid growth when I was 12. No when my nipples showed through my top as a 15 y/o it was not because I was a w***e or slut or what-say-you, it was because there are no padded bras that are easily affordable and I got very cold during 3 degree winters. I swear these people cannot be real. And if they are they have very clearly never been out in public before or spoken to a woman ever. Same reason why unless you are super dehydrated and use lots of gear, even body builders with massive gains generally have some fat over their muscles. This way when you get slashed at or bitten by a wild animal (or another human,) it has to go through a layer of fat before it gets to any vital organs, arteries, and blood vessels. A shallow cut on fatty tissue bleeds (obviously,) but not as badly as when muscle is cut. Plus it also means less damage to the muscle itself. In the case of those with a uterus, it's to also protect the reproductive organs from getting as easily damaged. PLUS, for those with a uterus, their reproductive organs NEED fat to function. It's why those with eating disorders or super athletes with little to no body fat content stop getting theirs. (And this is the real reason why a lot of afab athletes tend to stop getting theirs.) Having that stubborn pouhc helps ensure that even when times are tough and food is scarce, the body has a reserve of fat to draw from to make sure the reproductive system can keep functioning. (And natures first priority it reproduction and producing offspring. All else comes second.)

Calling it a pouch makes it sound like you could store stuff in it. Makes up for the lack of pockets I guess lol

I used to hate mine but then I thought about how cats have one and their purpose is. Then I loved mine. It's my pouch that protects all my insides, that's beautiful on its own.

The pouch isn't your uterus. The pouch isn't there to nesessarily protect your uterus. Its just how some women store fat because of our hormones. And no, not everyone has one.

3:54 If you get aroused by your literal child drinking your milk, and therefore understand it as an act of naughtyness, I think the problem lies with you, and not with feeding your child.

Also, if she’s feeding the baby her own breastmilk, she’s gotta be pumping. Doesn’t that equate to nipple play / masturbation on her part?

3:10 “anatomy does not lie” - absolutely correct. Anatomy comes in a) 4000 variations of intersex, b) even within what's considered male or female there's an incredibly wide spectrum, no two bodies are the same, it isn't clear cut what a man or woman looks like, c) trans people exist and are the gender their brain tells them is right (just like a cis person's brain tells them their gender!), therefore, their bodies are also part of that gendered experience. If you are a woman, your body is feminine, period. ANATOMY DOES NOT LIE. The dyadic cisnormative binary system does lie.
