He is cool as ice, socially very strong, a people manager, polite, has a good behaviour, doesn't talk nonesess, has humour, makes his players better and is also very young. If Manchester United fans (still) loved Ten Hag, then make no mistakes... they'll love Rúben Amorin much much more. I can assure you that. Rúben talks football and strategy like Rangnick did. He is direct with his arguments and a great character with a very good personality. Ten Hag can be a great coach, but he lacked a lot of that. Not to mention communicational skills and empathy. Rúben has it all. This is a great signing for Man Utd. I'm 42, a portuguese Sporting Lisbon supporter and Man United fan, since a young age. And by the way, i am also a Mourinho fan, which i consider to be the right person at the wrong time in United. I'm very excited with this signing by Manchester United, but really gutted and sad for Sporting Lisbon. I have never seen a person who united the club, the fans, who is respected even by the opposition, as much as Amorim did. And he did it with his personality, his intelligence to manage the team, how he worked their mentality to play together... he basically created a big family at Sporting Lisbon. The board allowed him to do that by supporting him. Which is important to notice, because we all know with United hasn't always been the case for a long time. I am truly and really very, very sad for Sporting Lisbon, because without Amorim, the good stability of the club now is uncertain, in terms on how the players will react with his absence and without his guidance and leadership on the field and in the training ground. He was the glue between everyone. But at least i can be assured that, i will still be able to see and enjoy "my" manager Rúben leading my other team, in Manchester United. And i am 100% sure all the United fans will as well.

I think United fans desperately getting ahead of themselves. Hugo Viana who is the football director at Sporting is going to Man City at the end of the season. Would you rather inherit Man City or United right now? I can not imagine Viana hasn’t been lobbying him to wait until the summer to take him to City and there are so many better reasons to take City in the summer and have time to craft the team in your image vs. rushing to Man United.
@2timesasausage18 күн бұрын
@StreetSmartAI I wouldn't say we're getting desperately ahead. It's more a case of we're a bit happy that ineos have moved quickly. Ruben's biggest problem at United will be the players and their attitude. It will be difficult to sell the players he doesn't want for any substantial transfer fee, and many of the players will not be getting current salary at any other club, so like Maguire did, they will be satisfied staying even if they don't play, as long as the salary keeps rolling in. Until all the crap players contracts run out, it will be hard to build the roster he wants. And even Sporting's current players have huge release clauses, so getting Sporting players over will also be difficult. As a Sporting CP fan, it is very heartbreaking. What he built at Sporting is incredible and I even think they had a great chance in the Champions League this year. It would have been great to have him still during the next two UCL games against Man City and Arsenal. But that is the way it is with England or UK having crappy coaches that they need to poach other countries coaches. This will eventually change with the inevitable 4-tier European Super Leagues in the near future.

It would be an uphill task. If he waits.. maybe City, Arsenal, Barca, Madrid would come in for him in a year or two. The Utd job is is the hardest in Europe at the moment. Lots of expectations but a poorly run club with a lot of ageing and injury prone players who don’t have a system or style of play.

@@sgoredraw1455lol if that's what you wanna tell yourself. He tried to whore himself to west ham to try and force liverpools hand. That kind of thing put liverpool off. He got desperate. Slot much better.

@sgoredraw1455 I’m pretty sure every reputable journalist implied or mentioned that Liverpool after early talks were no longer interested in him. slot was their second choice after Alonso rejected the club, not Amorim. Also, the guy said he whored himself out, he didn’t call him a whore. It’s a colloquial turn of phrase and not the same thing. chill out.

If United want a new Manager there is one vital thing they need to do. Let the Manager manage. Simple.

How can he ever inspire respect and loyalty from his players if he leaves one club mid season and joins another because it's 'bigger' and paying more money?

You don’t say no if United come knocking, he’d regret it more if he said no and the opportunity never arose again.
