S1 - Side Note: The SIL who warned OP & her husband (who’s the oldest son in the ex’s family) also started cutting the MIL & her family out. They had a son first followed by (I think) 2 daughters. However, seeing what happened to OP got to them both. BIL couldn’t stop thinking about what might’ve happened if he’d had a girl first. So, he & his wife decided they wanted nothing to do with that toxic family. MIL actually called OP & started blaming her for “destroying the family.” It’s ridiculous.

So I'm guessing that the divorce case was set for after she gave birth. I checked, and I guess usually doctors recommend waiting until about 20 weeks in to check gender with an ultrasound (I read that it can be done earlier but can be hard to determine). So that's 5 months in? So between finding the gender out at like, 5 months pregnant and 1 month before the court case (and birth?) this dude has a new girlfriend? In like 3 months? That's shady and also gross.

In case anyone’s wondering, I messaged OP from the baby story. She actually responded! She slapped him with child support - for the next 18 years, the ex-husband owes her a whopping $3900 monthly. That’s the only fishy sounding part to me seeing how child support is usually 1k or less. However, she didn’t mention if the ex-husband and MIL are loaded or not, so it is possible, I guess. Anyways, she’s trying to get it upped though because in her words: “f**k him”. Apparently he’s tried to run back to her, but every time he does, OP sends him a screenshot of his Reddit post. I also sent her the link to this vid, rslash, so she might even comment here! OP you’re amazing! *Edit #1:* she’s also trying to sue MIL for emotional trauma. Lawyer says she has a good chance at winning. If she messages me anymore, I’ll post them as edits in here… 🔥 *Edit #2:* OP’s lawyer filed the lawsuit. OP has court next month to sue both the MIL and the ex-husband. She watched the video but didn’t want to comment on the video in fear of people not believing that she’s the real OP. Don’t worry, rslash, she subscribed lmao. 🔥 *Edit #3:* OP’s ex-husband tried breaking into her house for some of his belongings. The ex-husband was arrested and OP is going for a restraining order against both MIL and the ex-husband. Again, I’ll post more edits if/when they come in! *Edit #4:* OP’s court case was today! She was able to get the restraining order on both the ex-husband and the MIL. As of right now, the EH will never see their kid and MIL will never see her granddaughter. OP didn’t win the lawsuit against EH, but she did, however, win the lawsuit against MIL and successfully sued her. There was also no bail for EH so he’s still in jail - likely to be there for a few years or more according to OP. Don’t know if this will be the last update or not. Maybe the last for a few months, so if she updates me again, I’ll try to remember to update. I’m sure in time, I’ll get a notification on this thread lol. There you go everyone, OP’s updated story! Stay safe! *Edit #5:* this isn’t anything extra to add - just a clarification since it keeps being brought up. OP is from the states. Mid-west of America to be specific. *Edit #6:* EH got sentenced to 11 years! *Edit #7:* OP was able to sue EH on grounds of threats. She didn’t go too much into it, but apparently EH wrote letters to OP while he was in prison that contained some highly derogatory threats. *Edit #8:* OP has a new boyfriend! EH is annoyed obviously and MIL is jealous and told OP that she’s like property - only belongs to her son (lol)…. *Edit #9:* Well, I thought this was done. But nope… So I got another message from OP, and boy is it crazy! So I guess MIL put a hit on OP. Guess what! OP’s new boyfriend - his family is into some shady stuff. Well this “hitm**” (censoring it so KZbin doesn’t remove my comment. Just in case), knew OP’s new boyfriend’s family. He told him, and obviously, OP’s boyfriend told her. She now got MIL arrested and she’s going to try and sue yet again! I wish I could post screenshots because this is frickin insane, guys!…. *Edit #10:* OP’s new boyfriend is a cop! He’s been a cop on the same department for about 6 years. So even if something happened, OP has the entire department on her side to help her out! So that should answer some safety concerns! As for moving states like others have mentioned, OP has no intention of leaving her state! If she did, she’d leave her friends, family, and decently high paying job behind. On top of that, she loves her boyfriend and sees herself with him forever (congrats, OP)! Therefore, she says it isn’t fair to him either to just up and leave a department that he’s been at for 6 years and start all over again at a new police department. As of right now, the tide and storms have all settled. Per usual, if there are any future updates, I’ll make sure to update you all! Thank you! *Edit #11:* OP got engaged! Unfortunately, this will be the last update ever… she told me that she’s tired of people messaging her, so she’s deactivating her Reddit account. I just checked back earlier today, and it has been deactivated, so I’ll no longer receive any updates… hope this is good enough for you guys! Stay safe, and congratulations, OP, you deserve the world for you and your daughter! 💪🏼

But no quite the opposite, his own post incriminates himself. The things he complained about we’re mostly how dare his wife follow a calendar to get pregnant and then eat a diet to protect the baby. At best, she might be guilty of very minor and typical spousal issues. Not wanting to have sex when tired and being opinionated about where to go eat dinner tonight. "What if I had been a girl and my family had treated me the way they're threatening to treat OPs daughter?" "What if MY kid had been a girl first and this was me dealing with this?" "What if my mother acted like this to MY wife?" What a batshit crazy woman. I hope all her kids follow suit.

Story 2: I am soooooo proud of OP, that she was able to give him her two cents, especially in such a determined matter and without backing up for even an inch. Even with external input and preparation that is a really difficult thing to do. By ending this relationship she dodged more bullets than a protagonist in any action blockbuster. Based on what she said about her ex's behaviour, that dude has some serious mental problems, and I wouldn't even be surprised to see a news article about him being a serial killer or something like that. Just the fact, that the crying baby makes him this mad is an indicator for something not being right. That alone wouldn't be too much of a problem, because it could be some mental condition, like what she listed, or a trauma, and you can work on that stuff, and find solutions. But instead of avoiding this situation he deliberately exposes himself to something that makes him this angry. He demands that OP silences the baby of her neighbors. He could instead demand that she makes the rain stop, and it wouldn't be more hilarious. Even, if for a moment we completely ignore his reluctance to let OP sleep over at his own apartment (which is another problem in itself), and accept, that for some people ear plugs don't work, he still could sleep at his own apartment without his girlfriend. Any kind of evasion would be easier and more believable than his selfinflicted exposure to something that drives him crazy and his unrealistic demands that someone else shuts the baby up. Then there is the apartment thing. If it was this alone, his reluctance to let her sleep over could be from as harmless as not wanting her to see that it is chaotic and perhaps dirty (which isn't a very good thing, but can be solved), to something as not so harmless as cheating. But combined with him preferring to be going mental because of a crying baby, making his girlfriend miserable and getting physical and destroying things, would probably force any therapeut or psychologist in a radius of 50 miles to experience a weird tingly feeling in their neck. Add the gaslighting, shaming and emotional pressure, as much as his incredibly inflated ego, and you have a good candidate for domestic violence or worse.

One thing that confuses me is, well, imagine the AITA story rSlash read where the OP of that story always suggests to her friend to come to her place, her terms and only her terms and never on her friend's terms, but the roles are reversed where the friend would always prefer coming to OP's house and never at her place or anywhere else. Well, this is OP's BF here. OP actually did mention in the comments that she has been at his apartment and mentions that his place is much nicer than hers and is even quiet, but for some reason, he always prefers coming over to OP's place, despite what this decision is causing as here and OP had even tried to ask why when he's got a much better place, but he never gives off any explanation for it at all. It feels like this AITA story about a mother who comes to a coffee place with her baby and she demands the people to keep quiet because her baby doesn't like it. My guess is the reason why he prefers coming over to OP's place over bring OP to his place is because if he were to bring OP over, he'd forced to pay the extra rent while if he were to come to OP's place, he'd never have to pay the extra bills as OP can take care of that (Basically, double standards as this isn't really new on Reddit, I mean, remember the story about the OP constantly sleeping over at her BF's apartment and his room mate getting annoyed at it for all the extra bills she's taking up?), as well as trying to shape it into his ideal place, which explains the "doesn't want to give in" comment and all the controlling and manipulating behavior.

@@spydersoup8447 I'm not quite sure, what extra bills you mean, except perhaps utilities. @neirgara2217 Жыл бұрын
@@spydersoup8447 That would be a good explanation for the resistance to her sleeping over alone, but won't make much sense considering his overall behaviour. It is not just that he is inconvenienced by the neighbors and their baby, but he is constantly p*** and gets verbally and physically aggressive. He is kind of suffering. If it were just him being cheap, he would be looking for alternatives, like asking her to pay for utilities when sleeping over, or not sleeping over at her place while not inviting her to his, or ending the relationship, etc. But he is not doing anything to stop his suffering. If he is willing to endure something that makes him crazy, just to save a few bucks, while not looking for any relieve, then there is more to it than just being cheap.
@erin80509 ай бұрын
Maybe the reason for him not wanting her to come over, his constant staying at her place, his anger about the neighbor baby, and his reactions to her not doing anything are all the same. He's already in a relationship and has a small child. He's going to OP's apartment to get away from his relationship/child and now her apartment isn't the saunctuary of peace and quiet he thought it would be/was in the past. Maybe he wakes her up every night to scream about the baby is because that's what he does at his place when the mother isn't fast enough for his liking. "Not wanting to give in" isn't really about getting away from the noise but not wanting to admit that she's a mistress or that he has a kid.

Story 1: It turned out that not only did the mom not like OP but she was serious about the first born being a boy. The other siblings having boys first, the same as she did in guessing, it only reinforced her belief. It's revealed, in the divorce post I believe, that the ex-husbands siblings and their families distanced themselves from all 3 of them (parents and the ex) because they were shocked by the mom's behavior and was afraid of her doing something to them and any future baby if it was a girl.

Makes me wonder if she's Chinese... Her generation in China would often kill female babies because they wanted males, especially if they were under the one child policy. The idea is that a female child will be traded off to another family through marriage and will care for their spouse's parents, where as a male continues the line and takes care of his parents in old age. That is very much what this sounds like.

A fwb would be one thing (been there, did that about a week after I left my ex-husband 8 years ago), but a whole damn relationship that fast? Uh-uh. That had to have been started beforehand. Mind you, after my ex-husband and I tried to work things out (obvs didn't work since we're filing for a no-contest mutual agreement divorce), I had a relationship pretty quickly, but I also knew that person for years, and she and I had dated before. I also was coming to terms with my sexuality at that point, and that had a major part in my divorce. Actually, my ex-husband is invited to my wedding to my partner, who I just proposed to (he knows this, we wre struggling with filing due to covid restrictions in our area as well as financial constraints, and he seems ok with coming as a "friend of bride #2"). So moving on semi-quickly, especially to someone you already had history with, depending on circumstances, isn't too too terrible, but it does seem very weird that he moved on so quickly after mommy dearest "convinced" him to leave. I suspect some cheating, sneaking around, or he had an ex that he never really gave up on who didn't give up on him either, marriage be damned.

Imagine starting a family with that guy, if he can't handle a baby crying upstairs, he'll explode at one being in his apartment. Even if op started a family with this man, who says he won't "discipline" their baby for crying too loud. Op dodged a MAJOR bullet.

Being honest Rslash I'm really glad that you're not jaded and you haven't "read them all" because even this story caught me off guard and threw me for a loop. I thought the Husband was going to have a different story but the moment he said that he believed his mother and wanted a divorce threw me for a loop. Then when he posted his "side of the story" I thought this was going to go down the rabbit hole of, oh she IS really manipulative but everything he said just seemed like he was parroting what his mother said. Having no evidence for it and just showing just how far gone he is and how manipulative his mother is. So yeah, it's not just you.

I hope the ex-husband finds this video. I would love to see the reaction that he makes from how you reacted to this story. That would be so glorious to see his reaction. I’m still laughing how he tells OP how he acted like Prince Charming instead of saying he treated her like a princess. Instead of getting pity he just dug himself deeper.

Story 2: Also, his reason for refusing OP's initial solutions being "I won't give in" is also strange. I think it's a red flag, but I'm getting the idea that he's always had his way (entitled, basically), and OP not shutting up someone else's baby is a threat to his ego/pride

@@EyseaSol About that, one of the updates is OP had clarified that she did went to his place a few times and it's quieter and more nicer than her place, and yet for some reason, he always prefer going to OP's place as she even asked him why, but he wouldn't tell her why. I'd say that this is because he's cheap, like he can't stand spending a few extra bucks on water and electricity just by having someone over a few days a week while if he goes over to OP's place he doesn't have to deal with that because OP can easily handle that for him. However, I'd say there's more to this than just him being cheap.

Stories like story 1 always remind me how badly gender roles and stereotypes have been engraved in society, and how damaging it is. To the point where people fight over what's in their baby's diapers. *It shouldn't matter.* As a mom you can match with your son and a dad can teach his daughter to be a leader. Why are we still obsessed with these ideals in this day and age?
@ImNotaRussianBot Жыл бұрын
Honestly, though. The patriarchal crap was only used as an excuse. The mom really wanted her baby boy home. And she used all the bullshit that she instilled into him about gender roles and medieval understanding of sex, pregnancy, and birth. The woman has to be a narcissist. The son is the product of a narcissist parent- they're at the complete mercy of their parent because they never got a chance to look at their parent objectively. Smarter kids understand that early (I did with a narcissistic dad), but he was the baby and his mommy smothered him.
