Perfect! You're totally right about setting the Wireless Go II to low. Especially if using with a GoPro, low is the cleanest setting for GoPro. I read a tip on Rode's site also which I've always stuck with, "camera pre-amps are usually not high quality and therefore noisy, so set your camera audio level as low as possible and use the gain control on the Rode Wireless Go instead."

I appreciate this a lot. I have a Rode lavalier mic and the gain was recorded too high and it records the plosives, now with this device I can reduce the gain for the input and it solves both the problem of being mobile and the audio input and potential plosives.

Your video helped me to understand why my wireless mic wasn't working with my dslr camera (no sound). The adapter I was using was the TRRS adapter for my phone and what my camera needed was a TRS. Both adapters came with my wireless mic. My sound works beautifully now. Thank you so much!

Great video. 2 questions if you have time: 1) I have 2 sets of these because I thought I lost the transmitter from my first one and found it after I bought another set. Can I get a splitter cable and use them both at the same time for interviews? 2) Did the Hack video you mentioned get removed? The card isn’t there. Thanks !
@MilosVi
@MilosVi 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can just get a splitter and use stereo channels for 2 recordings ( split audio in post)
@PeterAlanJohnson
@PeterAlanJohnson 3 жыл бұрын
This depends what you are recording to- if it records stereo, as most cameras do, then you can use a splitter cable to record the two GOs as two track stereo and split them later for editing, which is the ideal situation as this gives you most control. However an iPhone or other device with a TRRS socket only has a single mono mic channel, which is a lot less desirable. (You could mix the two mics, but it would still record as mono) You can get a device from Rode that lets you record two mics as stereo into a lightning socket but its around £70.

Hey Omar. Thx for the video. Well done. Great advice on focusing on audio to improve overall quality. Keep it up plz. One thing... compressors don't "clean up" audio. They control dynamic range. That means the difference between the wanted audio and the noise floor and background sounds will be smaller. Not a good thing and easily taken too far too quickly leading to disaster. Compressors are quite simple to set but are the most misunderstood processors in the audio world. I advise caution. They should be used judiciously. 😊🎶

Omar, this is a great video. I love my Rode Wireless Go. I am four uploads in my content creation journey. I am using a Logitech C922X webcam and a Samsung Galaxy S8 for my cameras. I have the BOYA-M1 mic I used for the first two videos and introduced the Rode Wireless Go in the third video. I have used it with my smartphone and computer. I used the Rode Wireless Go in my last video to also record a voiceover. The Rode SC-7 cable makes my smartphone work like a champ. I did get caught with the sound of my clothes moving and needed to resolve it. - Don Rimel

So I agree with you, low gain is the way to go if you're going to do post production but for live broadcast on both my phone and PC through an interface I needed to go to medium gain and turn up the interface (using a lav) or it was so quiet the sound was also unuseable,.
