The reason is to see if the manufacturer’s claims are true. It’s the only objective way to test distance. If they do the test you recommend, it wouldn’t prove anything because your walls aren’t the same. All of the interference factors would be completely different. Their walls could be empty while yours are full of network cables. Your walls could be lathe and plaster while theirs are sheetrock, or even brick. They could have 20 people walking in between the receiver and mic carrying electronic devices while you live alone. Starting to make sense?

Hey bro, at 01:14, you mentioned that the charging case of Rode is more rugged and better-looking. That's clearly a mistake. I've been using the DJI Mic for a long time, and the stainless steel casing has always been very sturdy. Especially with the release of the DJI Mic 2, its aluminum alloy casing is even more rugged, and it now has an additional locking mechanism. In terms of design, I've always loved DJI's aesthetic design, especially the translucent emitter, which looks absolutely cool.

I guess for an iPhone the dji is better since the receiver hooks up directly to it without an annoying dangling cable and attached receiver which is impossible to hold? I have the rode mic 2 kit and could never use it because it’s too cumbersome so I’m hoping the dji receiver would be filming friendly with an iPhone

I am expecting the new Rode Wireless Pro's today (Sep 2) and I like some of the new features. Before you get too excited, I still use the DJI mics and there is nothing wrong with the case. It's still a more compact, neat package that stores the units perfectly. I have NEVER had a problem with the lid of the charging case coming open. I do secure it in a Think Tank roller case and it's a tidy set up. With that said, I am looking forward to finally having a setup that has the lockdown mics and 32 bit float.

Receiver is lacking headphone port. Funny that Rode includes timecode connection for the camera but there is no way to monitor the audio during use of the timecode, camera operator will just have to wait for the playback, since timecode is already a lot of convenience better not include too much or it might make sense.

Rode has just some more Low frequencies that i can hear in this video, which seems that the voice sounds better and warmer, but the downside is that it can get more wind noise or when you spell words like "Power" or "Bombastic" the B-s and P-s will sound worse :D ... i know we can fix them in post but some creators don't have time for that!

In my last video shot with the rode wireless go 2, i have experienced issues with distortion. We where filming a video with halloween in a amusement park. The envirement was very loud, and in the post production i found out that the whole audio track, was nearly clipping or alreaddy clipping. There was no space to manual adjust the audio to make it sound better. Now i see this i'm convinced to upgrade to the wireless pro! :) It sounds like the perfect wireless microphone for me! 6:17 according to the Røde website, the internal mic can handle 123.5 db SPL (1kHz @ 1M). That’s high for a mic like this, but not incredibly high, compared to a Shure SM58 (150 dB SPL @ 100 Hz, 10 dB SPL @ 1 kHz, both at 1” from mic), but probably good enough if you’re not holding it close to your mouth in the way that you would while singing. Even with 32-bit recording, and the crazy dynamic range that allows, the physical limits of the mic capsule still apply. So, while yelling into the mic might distort within the capsule, nothing is going to be so loud as to clip within the recorder itself.
@TheAllAmericanDriver

This is a good point. I’m considering the system to hook up behind a car for exhaust audio, given the 32bit float it probably won’t distort, but the internal mic potentially will….

I edited my comment. I originally put 100 dB SPL, but that is for the original Wireless Go, not the Pro. It’s 123.5. The maximum for a human voice is about 135 dB @ 1”.

Please do a test of Rode Go Pro when connected to Sony A7Siii. In the Rode Go II version, Sony A7Siii users complained a lot about sound interference. The noise makes the sound in the recorded videos very bad. I don't know if this Rode Go Pro version can fix that or not? This is a problem I think is very serious. Thanks! Thanks for the great video! I was just about to pull the trigger on the Honeywell Lark Max and trying to decide which Lav mic to get for it, when the announcement for the RØDE Wireless pro hit. When I saw this came with TWO $100 Lavs, it really caught my eye. So... I already have mine on pre-order! I'm an actor, so I will use it for my audition videos and love the fact that I can use the second mic for the reader. The gain assist and the timecode will be amazing when I'm editing. I know there are limitations to the timecode that might not work for some people, but I don't even know if I'll need it. One other thing I love about your video is that you have the actual unit and you aren't just pulling images off the website. Hopefully that means they'll be in stock and shipping soon. DJI mic is definitely brighter than the rode one, but rode’s mic is also much more natural when used handheld. my guess is that DJI boosted the high end so that it neutralizes when clipped under a shirt, since fabric will roll that off, making it sound a little more balanced. im not sure if that’s the case, but when used handheld it definitely sounds crispy but lacks detail. im 100% staying away from that one if i want to mic a woman. i think rode saw the amount of people using the actual unit as a handheld mic instead of putting a lav2 on it and keeping it in their pocket, and they kept a lot more of the low end so you’re immediately gonna get a sound that’s more true to life.

Only one problem with these things ... the battery is not user-replaceable (without a soldering iron and a steady hand), and the battery on one of my transmitters has started failing after a couple of years relatively light use (once every few weeks). The DJI battery, by comparison, looks like it plugs in, so is easier to replace. Anyone else had this problem? Otherwise, the Pro looks like a winner, definitely sounds better out of the box (in your film) than the DJI.

I've had the DJI Mic's for 3 months, and just got the Rode wireless pro's yesterday. I prefer the DJI Mic's by a pretty big margin. They sound basically the same, even considering the fancy 32 bit float internal recording. I'm struggling to get used to all of the button presses and the silly app on the rode side, and it's making me appreciate the dji Mic's even more. I was expecting a lower noise floor with the 32 bit recording, that's why I got them. It's the same as the DJI's, I can't hear a difference at all. I'm probably going to send the Rode's back.
