God, this song's guitar melody is STILL so cool!! The entire album of New Adventures in Hi-Fi stands the fucking test of time and then some!

4mins 40 and Stipe and Mills in harmony singing "Go away, go away" is my favourite part of any REM song. Also my favourite album NAIHF

R.E.M. really held their own against all the alternative music that came out in the '90s. This song in particular showed they could really rock out when they wanted to. I love the grunginess of this album and Monster.

Yes. Monster is one of their greatest albums. It shreds.

This album is *very* grungy! R.E.M's grunge era for sure! I love it. Undertow being the grungiest one in my opinion though, almost sounds like it could be a Pearl Jam song. They would've made one fantastic grunge band.

A volte pensò che questa musica è così Speciale, da essere solo, per quelle sole persone speciali, e se tutte le persone fossero per questo sound sarebbe un'altro mondo. C'è uno stato d'animo che ti da il carattere di essere quello che vuoi esserne.

Binky the Doormat R.E.M. Produced by Scott Litt & R.E.M. Album New Adventures In Hi-Fi [Verse 1] This is horror movie stuff The muffin is peach, you're 'making love' You mean this opera involves handcuffs? I lay defeated Yeah, sour milk mouth, horseradish sweet She's a girl, and she's loving me But distance is my tendency I am defeated [Chorus] Have you lost your place? (Go away, go away) I wore my doormat face I hung my this or that I laid my welcome mat [Verse 2] If I'm your oyster, where's the war? You leave me gasping, tattered and torn Oh, I know you can't find a fork I am just a little acorn Well, acorns grow to mighty trees You've got sauce, but you don't have knees Now look who's asking pretty please I lay defeated [Verse 3] Call your bathroom friends around I will fake a little frown I will be your little clown Easily defeated Yeah, shut the door and open wide Seconal and astroglide Fuck with me and traumatize Don't you see I love your hide? All the beauty that's trapped inside Can't you see I love your hide? Can't you see I love your hide? Can't you see it?

Thanks for the lyrics. Never ceases to amaze me how we can go years (and years) loving songs that we barely know the words to. This is one. I knew some words, but now it's like a whole new song.

Very true for me too. Monster had it's moments, but left me disappointed in the band for the first time in my life. New Adventures restored that faith- and then some. It became one of my fav REM lps ever.

@@markb20 sure , it's a great album that will be in all the list of "best album" when we don't be here.
@markb203 жыл бұрын
@@rafaelrubiodiaz Like to believe that too. Always felt it was overshadowed by the successes of earlier 1990s albums Out of Time and Automatic FTP. Monster then alienated some fans, and New Adventures kinda came in under the radar- where I think it's stayed all these years.

@@markb20 well , "new advent........hi-Fi " ,no doubt is teh second master piece near to " Life?s.....pageant" of course these aren?t for any peolple . I like to think that these works are only for a few .Seems that you a me are into the chosen ones.
@markb203 жыл бұрын
@@rafaelrubiodiaz I do love Life's Rich Pageant too, but for me the one earlier work I put alongside New Adventures in Hi-Fi is Reckoning. Most people would go with Out of Time and Automatic as the best REM albums, but like you said- we're the chosen few!
