Mike Mills got SO screwed. No closeup of his amazing bridge vocals?!!!? That’s messed up! That is why I attended Nirvana’s induction in 2014… So I could see everyone and hear everything that was being cut out for airing on HBO. Fun fact: Michael Stipe was the one who inducted them. Fantastic night!

I love REM, And I knew Jeremy, Michael's. friend. We were neighbors, and were in Athens High School together. I also know his Mother from A Senior Church Group.I wish I had a picture of the band.

Stipe's voice has really become raspy, but I guess it's due to aging, among others. I still like it though!

@sharonb314 R.E.M. had two drummers (that I know of) after Berry left: Joey Waronker and, for the last 9 years, Bill Rieflin, who I think was a great match for the band.

Sad... Stipe used to be so good! Look for older clips of this song done live, including the unplugged version from '86. Amazing! It's likely a good thing they retired. Just not what they were...

Wow. Love REM. First of their recent performances I have seen. If this is how it has gone, it's probably best they hung 'em up. Stipe sounds really bad (comparatively). I remember when I bought their first albums (yes, albums) in the mid 80's, and he was powerful. Not so much anymore. Sounds like me singing in the shower....

Jesus. They should provide this footage of Stipe with a comparative clip of the tear-inducing way he used to sing the song, present to the hordes of X Factor (etc) hopefuls and imply the effects of smoking on the mammalian vocal chords. Because Michael Stipe has destroyed his incredible voice.
