I went back and forth every other week in the late '80's on whether "Fall On Me" or "Don't Dream It's Over" were the greatest rock ballad's ever. Then, in '91, Neil Finn wrote "Fall At Your Feet" and added to the conflict. Jules Shear's "If We Never Meet Again" gets some of my votes as well. But "Fall On Me" was my first 'most beautiful ballad ever.'

It's weird. I've always loved REM but rarely ever heard this song. Never had any deep feelings one way or another for it. Or so I thought. And then the song popped into my head seemingly out of nowhere. I found this video and now I keep coming back to this particular performance and realize that it's my favorite REM song and perhaps one of my favorite songs by anyone. Period. The harmonies, the band. Pure perfection.

When here this song. It reminds me of a English Girl I dated name Nicky. She went to REM when they was just starting to get big. We saw them at the Mesa Amphitheater. They were fantastic. I really thought I would marry Nicky but it wasn't meant to be. I married the love of my life and have been married since 1988. I saw this band again after married the love of my life I know that Nicky found her love, but when are young times were different but memories still linger at how much fun we had at seeing REM for the first time!😅😊
