I saw them Manchester in '99 when they played this pete buck's rickenbacker was cutting out as they really got us all bouncing. They tried playing it again but no joy that beautiful ricky went flying across the stage! Stipe stood on a monitor and sang suspicious minds as the techies did their thing . Bit late to comment but I was there too, it was a class moment! Showed how tight they were to be able to do that, the transition was so smooth and totally entertaining! Those that just know them for the mandolin and bongo stuff of the early 90's don't realise how much of a fast and loud rock and roll band they were, that could rock harder than many of their "heavier" contemporaries. Best rock band of my lifetime for sure
