The deluxe box set (5-CD/1-Blu-ray) features the original album (remastered), plus special remixes from the original Monster producer Scott Litt, a disc of previously unreleased demos, as well as a complete live 1995 performance captured in Chicago.
The accompanying Blu-ray offers Monster in both hi-resolution audio and 5.1 Surround Sound, a host of video content: the 90-minute film Road Movie, which documents R.E.M.’s 1995 tour, and all six music videos from Monster.
The collection is packaged in a five-and-a-half-inch portfolio book, featuring liner notes by journalist Matthew Perpetua-with new interviews from band members-and archival photographs.
Expanded editions, offering the original album and the remixed version, will also be available on two 180-gram vinyl LPs or two CDs, both featuring reimagined cover art by longtime R.E.M. designer Chris Bilheimer.
The remastered album will also be available as a standalone 180-gram vinyl LP, with the original 1994 Monster artwork.
Digital editions of the album will mirror the complete deluxe audio content-remastered, remixed and live- available across all streaming and download platforms. Digital breakouts will also offer the remastered and remixed album in hi-resolution (88.1/24).

Hi everyone, don't want to sound so much like a person who can't embrace all the good stuff from technology and such....but does anyone remember how incredibly precious was to go to your local and cool record store and only be allowed to get one single record because mom and dad also had to provide for your siblings as well ,remember how wonderful was to finally get that one album and enjoy everything about that record ,the art from the cover ,the songs,and read everything about the label and ect...going to a record store was such a great trill!!!!

I had finally gotten a job and my own car by the time I decided to finally see them live even if I had to take a road trip. Then they announced no tour for Collapse Into Now, and then announced their ending. Humbug!

I saw them twice in Ohio for their Document & Green Tours. I discovered them in my local mall at a record shop just browsing the LPs and the clerk had "Lifes Rich Pageant" playing for the store. I loved what I heard & I lingered to hear the whole album, lol. And bought it very soon after.

My wife and I got to see them once in 1999 in St Paul with Wilco opening. Bill was no longer in the band anymore but the show was really great. Only bummer was that the show got cut a little bit short due to a lightning storm.

On my own personal list of favorite bands of all time, these guys are second ONLY to The Beatles. Mike Mills inspired me to pick up guitar, piano and bass - and Michael Stipe: “wow”, just “wow”. REM wrote and performed the soundtrack to my youth as Murmur truly changed my life! One day I would like to shake Mike Mills’ hand and thank him for the profound positive influence he has had on my life. Big love and respect to my heroes from New England! 🎸

I loved R.E.M. ever since I discovered them in 1982-83 in high school, and was fortunate to attend one of their legendary performances on Halloween 1986 in Burlington, Vermont. A few years later, in February 1995 I saw them just before the start of Chinese New Year in Taipei, Taiwan, which I recorded with a fairly lousy analog tape recorder and trashy mic. I parlayed that tape into a huge collection of "bootleg" recordings, which has given me countless hours of pleasure over the years. To me the Monster record was such a departure from Peter Buck's established guitar style, and Mike Mills seemed to come more to the fore on keyboards and vocals as well. The sound was different, but it was really just R.E.M. with a new attitude, playing real loud and having a lot of fun. I keep a CD of Monster in my car (yeah, I love my CD player, thanks) at all times.

I saw REM on the Monster tour with Sonic Youth. My gf and I went backstage because we arrived early and chatted with SY. Thurston even handed baby Coco to my gf to hold when other fans came by to chat with him and sign things. I talked to Mike mills and got to play Kurt Cobain's Jagstang guitar which was given to him after KC's tragic death. Thank you to SY, REM and their crew. It was a pretty cool moment.

Nice to see them commenting on one of their reissues. The video should have been longer. I remember when I first bought the cassette of the recording when it was first released. After listening to it I was in awe of what they've accomplished. Coming after "Green", "Out of Time" and "Automatic for the People" they accomplished what groups like The Beatles and Led Zeppelin did before and released one standout album after another. And then after "Monster" they released another gem with "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" and by then I was going "this is too much". The "Rolling Stone" reviewer of the album accurately wrote that with that album either they move on to greater things or it'll be downhill from then on. Unfortunately Bill Berry left and it turned out to be the latter. But boy oh boy at their prime they were awesome.

I've grown up... Life isn't as it used to be back in the days. Life feels like on a loop. Work work work, make money, be a materialist and buy useless stuff to satisfy your emptiness. Trying to listen to some music but nothing satisfies me. Not even a tune that gives me a "feeling" anymore. I stopped listening to music in 2011. Why have I grown up? I turn to youtube and type 3 letters on the search bar. 2 hours passing by... Tears are forming, the feels are coming back and a secret hope for a better future is still there. Got to sleep. Not a daysleeper anymore. Can't be. No time to "feel". Back to reality from tomorrow. I've grown up... Thank you Michael, Peter, Mike and Bill for making me dream, hope, fight, cry, dance and most importantly "feel". I will try and pass your music to my young children and hopefully make them "feel" too. Thank you R.E.M.
