I first heard these sings you mention when REM played Dublin for 5 nights in 07, was at every show, just amazing! One of the best songs of the night was New Test Leper!

I just happen to love this place as it looks very like my house - same colours and 1950s inspired furniture. I also like the rather phallic elephant trunks on the wall which were a present to Michael from his family. There are photos of this place which David Belisle took in the recent book "Hello", when Michael got locked out of his house, after he forgot the combination for his security system and it was too late to call anyone!

The fact that this version exists and that it was included on Live From the Olympia is proof positive that it was not cast aside. Some songs simply don't fit the mood of an album, which is perfectly ok.

I love how Bill Reiflin and Scott McCaughy are using improvised items- Bill using an old cord phone and pouring water into a bowl for percussion and Scott using a glass as a guitar slide.

Ikr? I love those 2 guys anyway, they're the nicest guys I've ever met I have to say! When I was at the bar in Dub at one of the aftershow parties the barman trying to be polite didn't recognise Bill and asked him if he enjoyed the show and was he a big fan lol, Bill smiled and said he was a huge fan and he loved the show, after I told the barman and he was mortified!

What a beautiful song, thanks for posting it!!!! I love the mid-century modern furniture, that is what my parents had in our living room in the late 50's and early 60's, our table and chairs were turquoise. Great video.

I believe this song dates back to the Around the Sun era and was of epic length at the time, though I'm unaware of any officially released recordings of it during that stage of its evolution.

Jonathan Lee I’d agree with you. It’s hard not to hear a lot of Final Straw in this song. Definitely would not have fit on Accelerate.
