I think it's different in a medical setting. (Heck, most orthodontics offices maintain a policy that they can fire you if you don't stick to the dental hygiene regiment they require.) I suspect a large part of the problem here was that OP was still in her residency and was hesitant to rock the boat too much, even when it was entirely deserved. It sounds like she was uncomfortable but for the first visit at least she felt she could dismiss them and put the situation behind her, so she probably just didn't want to make a "big deal" out of it. I'm glad during the second one she finally got up and walked out to let another staff member ensure they left the building. ETA that I'm American. Yes some of the Karen's are getting out of control and many big companies just enable them. But I think we're starting to see more and more places, particularly small businesses, that are standing up for their right to refuse service to anyone.

The one time someone tried to make something up, she just silently pointed up at the very clear camera pointing toward where they were & said "they have sound". That guy stomped his foot & left. If you remember why people are behaving this way, it can help. It's the one place in their life where they can feel like they have won something against someone & it's only against people who literally aren't allowed to say anything back. If you think about it, those people are pretty pathetic. Good luck.

Your comment about the mother using her pram to block someone reminded me of something I saw a few months ago. A young couple with a baby in a stroller were hailing a bus. The bus didn't look as though it was going to pull over at the stop, so the father pushed the stroller (with baby still in it) in front of the bus while waving to block its path. I couldn't believe my eyes!! The bus stopped of course but I wonder what was going through the driver's head. What if he hadn't been able to stop???

Sorta reminds me of a customer at my retail job (probably mid 20s or so), he was walking around without a mask and i asked him if he can put it on. He says how it's harder to breath in it and that it stinks. I tell him not to worry and that dental care and mouthwashes are a few isles on the left. The look on his face was great and walked away, tho i could hear him chuckle (yes, he put the mask on aswell).

Jesus that whole first story is mental: hey OP, you should totally consider donating your eggs to a poor Christian woman, that you’ve never met, that you don’t know, that you’ve been forced into meeting, by a family who doesn’t know boundaries, by a family that doesn’t understand “no”, by a family who openly admits to stalking you and a family who doesn’t see you as a person… like… do these women hear themselves? Alright, I'm a dude so, donation for me is pretty straightforward and it's safe to say I got a lot of practice as a teen. But, it is something else entirely more difficult for women to donate. Not only is it invasive surgical procedure that, like all surgeries, carrys a huge risk of permanent damage and even death, ovaries only have a limited number of eggs. You don't just extract one egg ethier, 7 is the typical number (part of the reason why IVF often results in multiple birth, the implantation process is done with a number of fertilised eggs not just one, as it maximizes the chances of it working). There isn't even a guarantee that, even if everything goes perfectly and smoothly that the egg would produce a viable pregnancy, or that the pregnancy would go to term without issue. It's not like that kind of fertility treatment is like making an omelette. OP should get a restraining order against those crack-pots. The stalking and harassment should be enough. I can only assume they are trying to pressure OP because they have no intention of paying for the donor eggs or any of the medical expenses she would incur if she hit her head and agreed to this insanity.

That happened to me when I was 6 months pregnant. A guy came into my work and saw I was pregnant and decided I looked too young to really want a baby. (30, baby was planned, very wanted, very loved, already spoiled). He said that he would happily take the baby off my hands because his wife “wanted one” and they couldn’t have a baby. I thought it was a joke until he asked me when I was due and said “oh yeah, we can get our foster license by then.” and offered me money and looked at me like I should have been drooling at the mouth. A simple logic on my part. "If you are a good Christian and God would want you to be rewarded specifically with something for it, they'd organized it so that you'd get it without needing to ask, for they'd know it already to be needed". The fact that anyone has to ASK using their good faith behavior as reason undermines the entire point. You aren't being good Christian at that point, for your faith is not pure and undemanding. You are just using social status points trying to win people over.

For those that don't know. Donating eggs is a vastly different procedure from donating sperm. You have to be on hormone treatments for at least a week, and if that doesn't work, then there is a month long preparation and then two weeks of hormone treatments. This is to grow several eggs to a large enough size at once, because there is no guarantee that a harvested egg is viable. it's very common to only have like 10-20% of the harvested eggs be viable. If you're lucky, you don't get over stimulated by the hormones, but if you do, you'll be in a lot of pain for several days. Then, if everything goes well, you have to have a massive needle poked into your ovaries to pull out the eggs. You get a local anesthetic, but it's usually very painful anyway. So yeah, it's not something you just ask a random stranger to go through and kudos to the women who actually do it for others. I would guess most of the donated eggs are the ones that are left over and not used by the mother, if she had IVF herself.

If OP in the first story hasn't already filed a harassment and cyberstalking report, she definitely should. Frankly both Karen and her sister was showing huge creep alarms with their bizarre request, privacy-invasive questions and the overly "friendly" way that the sister started touching OP's hair in. That could very well be considered sociopathic behavior. I also want to say that no way in heck was the elevator Karen not being racist. Her saying "I'm claustrophobic", in an *elevator* of all things, is just code for "I don't like standing next to _black_ people!". It really couldn't be more transparent than that. Also rSlash, don't look too much into the mental capacity of an entitled parent.
