The amount of restraint that those people had at the funeral is legendary, I can't even fathom the lack of self-awareness that girl had to attend the funeral of someone when they played a key role in their death and have any active participation

@@fallenangeldraco3778 no, quite honestly, falsely accusing someone of a crime that will ruin their life, or in this case shortened it drastically, is quite deserving of that. I woulda walked up there and beat her down myself if I was at that funeral and I don't even know the guy.

I was looking back over the guy who saved a child from being kidnapped, and the whole lot of it is "we are firing you because you did something, despite that thing not being a violation of your employer" and then in the legal conclusion is the single line: You were fired, but not for misconduct connected with work. This man should get a lawyer, because it sounds an awful lot like some wrongful termination.

Sadly as I learned... Right to work states are able to fire you for anything. Especially if they specifically say that what you did is not the reason.. This includes.. We are not fireing you because you are (Insert Minority here.) in a letter... somehow making it okay to fire that person for being a minority

I hate it immensely but it's likely he's in a right to work state where you can be fired at any time and for any reason including your boss deciding they don't like your haircut. The worst part is most states in the US are currently right to work states because the billionaires want to avoid getting sued so they've been paying for that kind of change. I'm pretty sure the only way to get back at them would be if they blatantly say the reason you're getting fired is discrimination of some kind. Naturally most of them won't put that on paper these days.

@@colewest7096 right to work is only that you don't need to be a part of the relevant union to work somewhere. At will is what allows people to be fired more easily. Even in at will states(everyone but Montana) they are only allowed to fire you for legally valid reasons. All states have some combination of covenant of good faith, implied contract exception, and/or public policy exemption, besides those discrimination, disability, and retaliation are illegal reasons everywhere.

10:15 To put a stop to stuff like this, we really need a law that says if you intentionally falsely accuse someone of a crime, you get the max sentence of whatever you knowingly falsely accused the other person of.
@theinvertebratequeen
@theinvertebratequeen Жыл бұрын
Technically, if it can be proven to be falsified, the accuser can be charged with perverting the course of justice which can supposedly carry a maximum of a life sentence. Highly doubt someone would ever get a life sentence for a lie but still - there is the potential of higher charges and greater punishments if the lie is particularly damaging. If it isn't damaging to someone's reputation or a false accusation is immediately withdrawn then they're more likely to be charged with wasting police time which carries a maximum of 6 months imprisonment. Considering it can definitely be argued that the girls contributed to that guy's death, his family probably could've gone down the route of perverting the course of justice with the right lawyers.
@LiamDerWandrer
@LiamDerWandrer Жыл бұрын
@@theinvertebratequeen Wich country? In my country this kind of behaviour would be at minimum a sentence of a few years in prison or a maximum of a lifetime sentence. There would not just be a charge of willfull abuse of the justice system, but a charge of destroying someones reputation and due to the heart attack, if it could be confirmed the girls knew about the weak heart, would be a charge of attempted manslaughter. Their futures would be over.
@theinvertebratequeen
@theinvertebratequeen Жыл бұрын
@@LiamDerWandrer This was all stuff I found on Google which I sadly can't remember the full details of since it was from 6 months ago. I believe the laws I'm talking about are American laws but they might be UK. However, I'm talking mostly about the avenues you can go down for false SA accusations as a whole, not necessarily this specific case. For the false accusation specifically in this case, it would probably be deemed perversion of justice. Perverting the course of justice and wasting police time are quite often the two avenues that false SA accusations go down. That's ignoring the slew of other charges that could be placed on the girls here specifically and just looking at the usual false accusation charges and which they would fall into outside of any manslaughter or other charges. I do think it could be very difficult to have cold hard evidence, especially enough to sway a jury into manslaughter charges unless the girls gave a full confession which is very unlikely if they're going to lie about serious crimes though. It would be difficult to charge them with Unlawful Act Manslaughter as they could quite easily say the girls had lower culpability due to lack of maturity. They could possibly get hit with medium culpability but it would be very hard to judge it. If they were deemed to be low culpability due to lack of maturity, they would get a maximum of 4 years but the usual is 2 years. If they got medium culpability, that would still be on average 16 years. Age, lack of premeditation and, if visible, remorse would all lead to the sentence being shortened. They could possibly charge them with Gross Negligent Manslaughter but even at the highest culpability, that doesn't carry a life sentence. It has a maximum sentence of 18 years. Attempted Manslaughter is a bit of a doozy because, if you tried to kill someone, it would be more apt to be attempted murder. The only means that I have found of charging with attempted manslaughter is if it is attempted murder but with the victim provoking the offender, therefore downgrading it to manslaughter. Otherwise, attempted manslaughter has been deemed not possible except for very specific scenarios which this wouldn't fall into.

It occurs to me that if we did such a thing, we would probably need to include protections for when the accusations are designed to protect the accuser from someone with power over them rather than to hurt the accused, like if a girl’s parents are psychotic abusers who will beat her for sleeping with “that boy” but if she says it was R, they won’t. Also, we generally need better protections for people. Some “parents” are truly awful.

I was working in the garden center of a multi-national store that rhymes with Paul Blart, and when plants are determined to be "too dead" to sell they get claims-ed out and composted in the back. One time, the composter was broken, so they had us throw them over a guardrail into a little grassy area to decompose. Apparently, a bunch of people came at like 2 AM and grabbed all the plants and soil and took them. And management was PISSED. I didn't have the guts to say anything, but I was never sure why. Like, you got the credit for claims-ing the plants, they get some plants! Who cares where they end up?

4:21 to be fair, the bag is hanging off the weighing surface and appears to be sitting on the side of the scale, on both sides, so naturally some of the weight of the bag is being supported by the body of the scale and not being measured. If you wanna weigh oversized objects you need to put a suitable tray (or paper plate, or whatever your scale can handle) on the scales weighing platform, re-zero the scale, and then use the tray/plate as the weighing surface. If the item your weighing is touching the side of the scale or the surface the scale is sitting on, or _anything besides the weighing platform_ like this chip bag appears to be, then you're getting an inaccurate measurement.

See that bot that pinged everyone and deleted the server? That happened to a server I'd been a part of for like two years. Everything, gone. Discord crashed. Wonderful writings from wonderful people, everything we had worked on for so long, was completely gone. Luckily, the owner reacted fast and could ban the bot before it collapsed the server, and invited everyone to a back-up (that was, of course, empty of those things that we'd lost). I had a panic attack when I saw it happen, at around 2AM. I didn't know we had a back-up, and the owner had been gone for months anyway. I could only watch the bot wreak havoc and delete months worth of memories, ruin everything, "delete the f*ing server" getting repeated over and over like a nightmare. Not to mention, they _always_ advertise connection speeds as "up to". That two-word addition is their get-out-of-jail-free card when it comes to if it's legal or not. It is. It shouldn't be, but it is, sadly. And you bet they _only_ got the highest speed they advertise at by connecting to a dedicated server with zero other connections, through a router that was likely a few feet away from the phone they were testing the speed with, that was connected to said server via a fibre optic cable. So, in other words, a completely staged connection speed test that is 100% impossible to replicate and achieve outside of those very specific circumstances that only exist within their own facility and _definitely_ not anywhere further out ... like your phone whilst outside, or even connecting to your own router at home. This bullshit somehow-legal false advertising is why I dumped Sky Broadband as my home internet provider, and will _never_ go back to them. I was paying for "up to" 15mb/s download speeds (this was many years ago now) when in reality I was getting _less than 1mb/s download_ - it _never_ went higher than 1.5mb/s. And that was a computer connected via cable to the router which was connected directly to a dedicated internet line. I couldn't have given it a better chance at having the fastest connection possible. Funny thing is, the entire neighbourhood was also with Sky Broadband at that time, and soon after I switched I watched as each house around me also started switching to my new provider until now the entire neighbourhood is on my new provider (Virgin) and we _all_ just got a massive speed boost thanks to the company installing brand-new 1Gig fiber optic cables in the area. 2:00 Never drive over the spike strips, if you do, DON'T STOP UNTIL YOU GET SOMEWHERE SAFE! One time, I was on a freeway to Pittsburgh, and I saw one of these laying on the road as I was merging off the highway onto a small two-lane road leading into the city. Unfortunately, I was going too fast to stop in time, but I did manage to slow down enough so the impact wouldn't be as damaging. My back left and front left tire were ruptured, and went flat, but I managed to make it to the city in time. If you stop to investigate, you will get jumped. Getting out is a dandy way to get murdered and robbed by some random guy. People lay these things on roads in and out of bigger cities and towns to try and get cars to stop on the side of the road. If the car stops, they will jump the person and steal all their stuff. Just a heads up if you see one of these things, if you can't stop and turn around in time, and you drive over it, just DO NOT STOP TO INVESTIGATE, KEEP GOING UNTIL YOU REACH A SAFE, POPULATED AREA. Once you reach a place you think is safe, then you can get out and investigate the damages on your vehicle.

The dude (Reagan) who got fired for helping stop the kidnapping was actually given his job back by people higher up the chain than the store manager. He was also given back pay for the entire time he was unemployed. In an update to his original story on Facebook, Reagan says, "Home depot has offered to reinstate my position in the company along with appropriate back pay up to the date of termination as a show of good faith and has assured me that there will be no retaliation if I choose to take them up on their offer."

the food getting thrown away is because for a quick buck, people will sue the company. There was a donut shop that would donate the days donuts at the end of the night to a homeless shelter, one day they stopped and said to throw them out. everyone thought it was corporate greed until someone from said shelter came in and said they had missed the donuts and told the surprised workers that, it wasnt corporate greed, it was the fact that someone living at the shelter SUED THE DONUT COMPANY. as to why dumpster diving is illegal, same reason. if you get hurt/sick from doing it, you can sue the company. people do and WIN.

The food places still "own" the trash because enough places have been sued by dumpster divers getting sick. I'd imagine a similar case has happened for all dumpsters, such as people injuring themselves on refuse whilst scrapping the junk. It's pretty stupid that either those in need get arrested for 'stealing' trash, or the business gets sued for improper disposal. I'd imagine it would be easier on everyone if they sell their trash to an intermediary that then distributes it with a more loose categorization process. Maybe something along the lines of relabeling everything as compost for food, and selling the refuse to independent 'waste transporters'. So it can snake around the overly braod ruleset of what is 'safe', since the fine details imply it's all waste management instead of for consumption or scrappers.
