I had a similar thing in an English exam, that's English as a foreign language btw. At the end of the exam, there was a creative writing assignment, and one of the prompts was something along the lines of "At night, I heard the noise..." and I wrote a lengthy story about a girl who has sleep paralysis, but in the very end, it turned out the demon was real all along. My teacher commented that it was a nice story, but I should pay more attention to reading the assignment because it had a mark count and I'd written that many words.

I think my favourite weirdly wholesome spooky thing was in the Haunting of Bly Manor - the kids know how the main malevolent ghost works (she stalks the house at regular intervals in a particular path, and anyone in her way gets grabbed and dragged back to her lake with her at the end of the route) so whenever she's out they do what they can to prevent the au pair seeing her. Initially that is just locking her in a cupboard until the ghost leaves, but there's a very cute moment later on where they are keeping her attention on them by claiming to have had a bad dream, so she doesn't see the lady walking behind her, because they know if she sees that ghost she'll get curious and end up too close, so they're just staring past her watching it move on it's route being all "It's OK, just keep looking at us, a few more minutes then we'll go straight to bed....."

I love scary movies. I've been watching them since I was 6 and my sister got her first laptop. She always wanted to watch scary movies at night but then she couldn't sleep alone, so she dragged me into her room and I watched them with her. But the thing is, I still get nightmares from watching them. Not the kind that makes you wake up sweaty and agitated, but the kind that makes you feel like it's the longest hecking dream in which everything just tries to murder you, either physically or by giving you a heart attack or a stroke.

11:10 So in regards to befriending your demons, I've had insomnia my whole life and it causes hallucinations, a very common one I had was that the room was filled with horrific figures that were talking to each other ( yk that weird white noise in a large crowd... kinda looked like a work party actually lmao) non of the beings could see me except one that glowed white which would just stare at me and I was terrified of it. Cut to around 7 years of having it (I think I was about 11) I was just done with being to scared to sleep so I waited for the hallucination to begin and then I called out to the glowy thing and said it could follow me and live with me for the rest of my life if it protected me against the other beings... never had that hallucination since so I may have made a pact with a demon lol
