Neil is/was....a genius. Obviously, his Master status on the drums, but his writing, his Lyrics.....his WORDS, phrases....the ability to Tell a Story. I was lucky enough to catch Rush live 4x; they never disappointed- and always sounded just like the album. Three guys= a wall of Sound. Amazing musicians all.

No offense intended towards this narrator, he’s doing a very good job but, oh how I wish this book was narrated by Neil himself. There is just a comfort and satisfaction in hearing Neil discuss, describe or explain anything in his own voice. His spoken word is as compelling as his drumming prowess. He is missed everyday by so many, including myself. Lucky for us, we still have of his written and musical works revisit as often as we like.

I just listened to Far And Wide, narrated by Paul Hecht. I was not hopeful, but Mr. Hecht absolutely "got" Neil, as if he'd spent a large amount of time knowing him (possibly even a fan of the music and the literature.) Uncanny in gravitas, humor, tone, intent, both personal and professional. A well done reading you might enjoy. He even somewhat "sounds like" Neil. Well read.

No one could write like this man, absolutely amazing mesmerizing but always polite always etiquette......& forever a quiet man, into solace. NEIL NEVER HAD A LITTLE BRAIN! IT WAS HUGE! But full of great great knowledge to have known how to heal his own soul...WHAT A LIFE A PAST PRESENT NOW....HIS FUTURE .....WHICH NONE OF US KNOW WHERE THE SOUL GOES. IF YOU ARE ME , AND WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT, I THINK HES SIMPLY WENT GONE TAKEN HIS BABY SOUL" as he so eloquently puts it,& it entered another car,as I learned from reading John Lennon beliefs about what occurs after death. Oh our bodies / souls simply get up walk into another car" Lennon said" years before his untimely passing. This too, is my personal belief about death. It's a very personal feeling amongst people. It should never.,ever, become combative as is not meant to be. We are one, but not the same" as Bono expressed so perfectly in his rock band U2- I may have messed up a lyric on that song ONE" nobody is perfect. I'm sick of KZbin commenters tearing ppl down for irrelevant things like a simple lyric err. Like, they are perfect?? I know that Geddy Neil & Alex were humble but successful guys. They def would not have seen their fans like that !!! I loved them all, the day Neil Peart died shocked me. I knew he was both quiet & private guy. One of the most influential drummers of ALL TIME PLUS ME, BEING PART CANADIAN and LIVING HERE BORN IN SCARBOROUGH.... MY FIRST CONCERT WAS....RUSH AND NEIL BLEW MY MIND ! Only drummer if heard after in concert was BONZO IN THE UK AT KNEBWORTH SUMMER OF LOVE 1979! Shortly after I returned to Canada , Wasn't long before I heard Bonzo had passed RIP DAVE GROHL OF THE FOO FIGHTERS another band I love!!! Said Neil Peart was a definite influence on his drumming skills. I'm sure,do many more bands I don't listen to, Bc I'm still into the good old stuff. No changing me! This rock chick knows what she likes, that's it. I would love to read any BOOK NEIL HAS WRITTEN!!! He's absolutely such a fascinating man who, sadly,is gone too soon. Your band mates, Geddy, Alex.....miss you so much as do you many many fans from ALL OVER THE WORLD You've touched so many hearts,& minds of all ages as well.....EVEN IF RUSH ENDS...YOU AS EDWARD VAN HALEN, LEFT A WONDERFUL BODY OF WORK,FOR US TO ENJOY LISTEN TURN IT UP & rock on!!! Or,pick up one of your books, dive in, loose ourselves into your tiny brain" which dearest Neil" is untrue!!! Your brain is ginormous !!! Perfection Perfection" I could visualize you when you said tiny brain" or that & sarcastic wit?? N'er mind. It doesn't matter. It's a rainy night here in Ontario, blustery. I enjoy writing myself & find it exceptionally therapeutic. It's not for the faint hearted ....but practice makes better not perfect. As I've harshly come to terms with. Anyway. As for being the soundtrack of my life? Grace Under Pressure Hold Your Fire were the ( of course I had almost all the Rush classic albums CDS now) Those -2 really were the -2 that were MY PERSONAL FAVOURITES LIKE WOW! Got me through a terrible loss of a love ( proved to be my soulmate & forever only) the death of my mum at such a young age she passed 54 ) I was 20) Let's just say, music was always my refuge, Whenever I felt any emotion I was uncomfortable I'd put my stereo on, Or then it was those little things you carried - MINI CD PLAYERS) excuse me I've not been eating,I'm very burnt out. So I'm going to go take care of THAT Plus feed my kitty her snack" Thank you fellow music lovers for reading. Keep on rocking! RIP NEIL PEART NO BAD COMMENTS OR ILL SIM TURN OFF MY COMMENT SECTION

Thank for your narration.I will never understand the strength it took to hang on and stay around this conundrum called life.ive respect his choice of trying to ride into oblivion. That was then, but now I find myself doing what he did cuz i will always miss him.my mom passed 2months after he did and im on the same kinda journey trying to kindle my baby soul from such unexpected fate of demise we all must face.so thank you and Mr.Peart,I will listen to you continue his story.

Steve, you may be right. But then you have people like me who can read a paragraph and not be able to answer any questions about what I just read. While listening to this, I was thinking about the problems I would have had just trying to read that many words in a row. My mind would have found other things to do. And then I would have gotten frustrated with myself for not remembering all the words I just read, when they were bouncing off my skull and never made it in to begin with. Very frustrating, to say the least. And I've always loved listening to Pearts voice. It's so easy to listen to. And this is the only way I will know whats in that book. So this is perfect for me. I understand what you're saying though.

I know a lot of people bashed his negativity and comments towards certain individuals, etc in the book. The thing a lot of these commenters forget is the man was hardcore grieving and obviously getting some of it out of his system. If we lost our only child and our spouse all within a year together, we’d be at wits end to say the least. Sure, Neil was Canadian and known to be extremely polite. We all have our moments, we’re human. Thanks for doing the audio book commentary for this
