My mom found out I was lesbian because her bestfriend snooped on my phone. Her reasoning: I have hearts next to my friends names so I can tell who they are by color. I was so pissed because my mom got mad at me because I didn’t tell her I’m lesbian. I had been planning to tell her when I was comfortable but I was not yet comfortable enough to tell her. She proceeded to ask if I had been planning to just run away with my girlfriend and never tell anyone. I literally had planned on telling her soon and as soon as she went off on me it made me feel less inclined to tell her anything. The reason I was cautious was because my dad and maybe some other family is homophobic and didn’t want them to find out.

@@TheDemonicMushroom I'm sorry to hear that moment was stolen from you, My mother didn't take me coming out very well and I'm far less inclined to to tell her anything now as well as telling my mom and brother when I came out I didn't want my sister's to know And so far so good, they understand despite being homophobic that if my sister's knew the entire planet would know so they bite their tongue and don't inform my older sister or the younger one so I feel like I get why you wouldn't want most of your family knowing . It'll get easier as the shock factor dies down hopefully, but your not the only one in a similar situation if that helps you

@@ViktorErikFade yeah. It’s not that my mom is homophobic or anything. It’s just I felt really upset that she invaded my privacy and got mad because I hadn’t felt comfortable enough to tell her yet. Not only this she also threatened me with telling my dad when I didn’t have a good explanation for why I didn’t tell her. I didn’t say I wasn’t comfortable because I was too afraid of her getting more mad at me. Her best friend (my god mother) completely broke my trust when she did that to me. On top of all this most of the people at my dads house are transphobic (he lives with his brother and mom) his brothers sons, my cousins, talk bad about nonbinary people which makes me sad since I’m a closeted nonbinary from everyone but my bestfriend and girlfriend (as well as a few other friends)

As a care worker, I can say that having 24/7 security cameras in an elderly person's house, especially if they're in decline or especially vulnerable, can be invaluable. It can also help protect against neglect.

@davidsmith775211 ай бұрын
@@ciaracooney9625 I don't know if it's a difference of country or condition, but most of my clients are either bedridden or require assistance moving around the house, so bedroom cameras are usually one of the most important, because of how long they spend in bed. Additionally, in a lot of cases with really severe cases, even if they are capable of standing and changing themselves, they end up doing it in their living room or bedroom because they have more space and use a commode instead of their toilet. That being said, the sharing of videos or images from those cameras with people without a need-to-know justification is a horrific breach of Safeguarding and shows a flagrant disregard for the wellbeing of the individual in question.

Luckily, my mom was an absolute champ and even ordered that the incredibly disrespectful midwife to be barred from entering the room after the awful way she was talking to me. My husband drove 8 hours from where he was stationed and got there for the last 4 hours and just held my hand and told me everything would be okay (he didn't tell me until later that I was squeezing his hand so hard that I actually sprained 2 of his fingers). I was utterly terrified, blindsided, dysphoric, and in so much pain. Some people with severe control issues want to keep their family unit in a tight, isolated bubble away from all others until anyone who wants to enter earns their approval. This is particularly common amongst those with extreme views like cult worship and conspiracy theories, people who beat their children and people who molest them. Outside influence can threaten their control and in the case of the molesting and beating, risk them jail time. They try to brainwash those in the bubble into thinking anything outside the bubble is a danger that will destroy the family and hurt all their loved ones, that the outside doesn't understand them and is looking to corrupt them.

We had cameras set up at my grandmother's house due to her dementia. The inside of the door had child covers to keep her from wandering but for the most part the outside scared her, stove was unplugged and my folks came over 3 times a day for hours to take care of her, but they also just wanted to check in when they couldn't physically be there. Usually she was asleep or watching TV, picking at the snacks left for her. They never kept recordings tho, it was always just live feed that we could save if needed.

@fancydeer11 ай бұрын
I got the vibe that he was convinced that she was "wasting" pads (ie changing them when they needed to be changed). some men think women are only supposed to wear one pad a day or one pad per period or wear a pad until it's totally soaked through or something? I'm not sure what they think. They don't realize pads need to be changed just as frequently as tampons because they hold bacteria/don't absorb after they're full of blood where you bleed into them for hours in the same spot lolol

@Amy_the_Lizard11 ай бұрын
@fancydeer They don't necessarily need to be changed as often as tampons depending on your flow. Tampons HAVE to be removed within 8 hours because being inserted into the body makes it waaay easier for any bacteria growing in them to enter the body, and cause toxic shock syndrome. Since pads are outside the body, it's significantly harder for the bacteria to invade from there, and the environment isn't as ideal for bacterial growth either, which is why it's safe to sleep with them on. That said, no matter how slow your flow is - or even if it's non-existent and you're wearing the pad as a precaution since it's close to time for your period to start, you should be changing it at least every day...

But her memorial service was a assembly hall completely packed with people, and I had to sit there listening to dozens of people sharing stories about what a "loving, kind, and compassionate" person my grandmother apparently was. I don't know who they were talking about, but it wasn't the person I knew. It would have been nice for her to share a bit of that "loving, kind, and compassionate" personality for her family. Something I have realized as ive grown is that parents have this idea of who their child is in their head and when the child grows into their own person and that person not being who the parent(s) want them to be frequently leads to problems. Just like with anything else a person daydreams about it is ok to have an idea of what you want, but at the same you cannot control other people who where their lives take them and I wish more parents would realize this and accept their child if they are happy.

My partner is trans and the mom was so unsupportive that she would call and harass teachers into misgendering him (even tho he passed), etc-- and she also wound up coming around and pretending it never happened. unless they're religious, social norms go a long way. just try to survive it if it's not actually dangerous (assuming you can't leave) and it may well solve itself.

11:15 Oh, I have a theory! I bet parents who do this are using text to speech, and they're ranting as they drive or something?

My mom uses text to speech so often like once we were in the line to get groceries and she started randomly using text to speech so loud everyone could here the conversation so embarrassing

Well, both the incels and entitled parents feel entitled to /something/, even if it's hopefully not the same thing. If someone denies them something, time for a tantrum to try to force you to agree their demands.

21:26 That's the "I didn't get what I want" behaviour. Very common among Addicts, Manipulators (i.e. 'nice guys' and 'nice girls') and shady salesmen. It's something I have experienced often, especially in school when you have the cool snacks. It was even more obvious to see because i was a loner. But then I pulled out the kinder chocolade and everybody was suddenly my "best friend"

34:42 Mother brought in food for mother to eat. Sister can't have anything in case they need to operate, asked mother to close the curtains so that sister, who was hungry, wouldn't have to watch mother eat in front of her. Then mother had a tantrum and made a big deal about not eating her food.

These videos make me eternally grateful that social media didn't exist as it does today when my mother was alive. I'd dread to even entertain the notion of what she could have unleashed upon the world.

Should have replaced the wholesome spot with "emotional incest." Seems like you're way more likely to get that.

That pregnancy story was wild. I showed up for when my sister was pregnant but couldn't find the room cause I was tired (it was like after midnight) and had been studying for midterms all day. You know what I did? Fucking left and apologized for not making it. Later I admitted I was there but didn't want to bother them because SHE WAS GIVING BIRTH and I felt bad I couldn't make it there early enough. That mom is truly wild.

I gotta say as a bingo, the rule that you can only mark once makes sense and is fair, BUT I much prefer when you would put down all marks that qualify, because it allows us to see just how much BS we really gone through in these videos, the insanity of the board makes it funny, turning it into a flat game of bingo feels depressing, Like we are turning an actual game out of peoples experiences, that part makes me personally uncomfortable, but I still enjoyed the vid, take care Click🎉💕

Whenever Clicky uploads an Insane Parents video, I feel like the issues I have with my parents actually are solvable (with some time and effort). Makes me hopeful that our relationship s will improve. So thank you! (And to all of you who don't have that privilege and somehow have to deal with those outrageous absurdities: I hope you can find ways to get through it, set boundaries and actually be able to live a happy life. ♡ There's help out there!)

I think the dad who texted his son threatening to kill his girlfriend may have untreated/undiagnosed BPD. BPD rages are usually triggered by an intense fear of abandonment, which the son "choosing his girlfriend over his dad" could have been a trigger. Parents with untreated BPD typically engage in emotional incest to an insane degree, and there are certain phrases--"you don't make time for me," "it's her or me," "she's brainwashed you,"--are so common that in the support group I attend, we call it "BPD Bingo" when they come up in communications with our parents. It's seriously like these parents are reading a textbook on "How to Emotionally Abuse Your Children," like jfc.

it's too bad bc people w BPD make the best most loving and supportive familt members when they know they have BPD and take ownership over their health. The most supportive relationship of my life (10yrs) was w someone w BPD. It started off rocky but we learned to communicate and affiirm eachothers' needs. We broke up for unrelated reasons. People w BPD are hyperempaths and have interpersonal skills no other population has. It's just a matter of how those traits are used/controlled. Also externalizers vs internalizers.

@@SpecialBlanketabsolutely. My aunt has BPD, and when she was being treated for it and was making a real effort to be self-aware, she was amazing. Deeply empathetic, as you said. Unfortunately, she had something of a "relapse" and now denies having BPD, and is back to her old, destructive (mostly to herself) habits. I don't understand it, because she is so much unhappier now, but when you're dealing with mental stuff, you do things that don't make sense... I know that first-hand 😅
@Views_of_Eight8 ай бұрын
@@SpecialBlanketdefinitely agree. My father has BPD and bipolar 1 (not the greatest combo), but he’s still probably the best father I could have ever hoped for. He recognises that he has issues and does his best to work on them. Even after having an… episode? (Not sure what the proper term is) He apologises afterwards and makes an effort to fix whatever damage he may have caused (mostly psychological. He has never been physically abusive towards us, even in his worst moments)

for a someone that grew up with r/InsaneParents, these vids gives me some flashbacks, some of which i share with my older sister... not talking to my parents anymore, and it was a relief to finally cut them out of my life... it took my sister 4-5 years longer than me, before she finally had enough...

43:40: *cracks knuckles* Let's go: 1.1 Corinthians 16:14 “Do everything in love." 2. Luke 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." 3. Luke 6:35 "But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked." 4. James 4:12 "There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you-who are you to judge your neighbor?" 5. Romans 15:1 "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God." I can go on. Stop using Christianity as an excuse to spread your hatred (:

43:00 i literally studied this a few days ago, they legally cannot do that as it falls under discrimination against gender identity, which is protected against according to the human rights thingamajig (in my country at least) they're discriminating against their own child by refusing housing/kicking them out due to gender identity. they're in the wrong here, both morally and legally.
