For some their first sexual experience would have been being raped and humiliated by him. The psychological damage that this causes is enormous, many never recover. he got charged for the charges, not all of what he did, law is not magic, the court can't magically find the absolute truth of the situation, it's based on what evidence they can provide, and for some cases, they might just not have enough solid evidence for a charge even though the person did commit the crime.

As a 3L, I really appreciate your insight on these cases. You strike a fair balance between vigorous defense of clients and believing victims should be heard subject to scrutiny. That completely refutes the false stereotype that defense lawyers believe no one should be held criminally responsible for their actions. You give clients the best defense they can get, and if the state can’t meet its burden, the state can’t take that person’s liberty away. Looking forward to more videos Bruce!

Thank you Bruce for your sensitive treatment of this subject. Sadly it is rare these days for a public figure in the US to do that, male or female. I hope this prisoner is never freed by a future Governor or President... who knows what will happen if the law isn't properly enforced at the highest levels of government, and soon. On another note, I would like to know why you're not a fan of Gloria Allred's work. I'm on the fence about her, because in some cases she assists genuine survivors, but in others she assists people who might not be telling the truth. I want to support and promote lawyers who do the right thing, but the jury inside my head is still out on her.

Kelly is going away as a sex offender, we often hear about stories of offenders getting "dealt with" by other inmates. Do you have any personal insight or stories you know to be true about such things? It'd be nice to have a reliable story or two. I’m concerned that he’ll be released on appeal. I don’t get how a single person could be racketeering and sex trafficking with no co-conspirators. Could this end up going a similar way as with Cosby? Where on appeal it is found that though he might be a predator, he isn’t guilty of what he was accused of.

Cosby's release has zero to do with this case. He wasn't released because it was decided he wasn't guilty after all - it was confirmed that he was guilty of the crimes. He testified to them! Cosby was released on a technicality. The previous prosecutor had assured him that he could testify freely to his crimes in a civil trial and in exchange he would not be prosecuted criminally. But he was subsequently prosecuted criminally by a different prosecutor so on appeal, his conviction was overturned. And I believe he is headed back to court on new charges.
