No exaggeration hearing from Bruce say he started at community college made my day. I’m currently at a community college with the goal of being an attorney. And I constantly fear that I’ll get left behind when I transfer to a 4 year. Bruce or Michael if you see this thank you so much this channel is one of my biggest inspirations!

I'm so glad I learned early on that the street life wasn't worth living. My dad was a big time dealer while I was growing up. We got raided 5 different times during my childhood. I was 19 during the last one and they charged me that time too cause I was heading down that path and partaking in the activities. I ended up sharing a jail cell with my father. I laid there on that top bunk staring up at the ceiling knowing I'm sharing a cell with my father. During that same raid my mother and two other friends were also charged. He was making crazy money during all those years but when they come in they take ALL of it. He got out of prison and came out to nothing. I changed my life, went to trade school and work 9-5 (well 7-3 really) as a Plumber and I'm so much happier than I was even when I was making more sitting on my ass. I make good money and I never have to worry about police kicking my door down and taking my money. Some people hate working and want to live the fast life but I've been there and it's not worth it at ALL. I'm so happy waking up every day for work. Some days I have the very normal "I hate work" moments but then I remember what it was like being raided and seeing what happened to my dad and I realize how lucky I am to have a good job with good pay. I hope anyone who lives that lifestyle sees this and hopefully starts to distance themselves from the hustling and street stuff. It's not worth it.

Nobody said square is bad…they just saying you not cut out for the streets. You’re life is within the “four corners” of civilization. Y’all put the negative connotation on it because y’all want to be seen as “tough” or “street” …those 2 can’t co-exist. You either square or street, legit or criminal-there is no IN BETWEEN! Just be content and stop trying to commingle these 2 concepts. It’s ok to get out, they want you to get out. I thank God for my ghetto angels that kept protection around me because they knew I would do good in the world to make it better for everybody.

The streets were and still are the easiest route to take that’s why most take it. I was apart of the “streets” . The lamest thing is to be that bc when you make it out you see how really lame it is,the brokest ppl be the coolest/popular ppl. But when they step outside their little neighborhood, town, city they spent their entire life they soon realize how sad and little living there is compared to the real world. I know I did once I left and if I had to choose which life is harder to live it will definitely be the straight route it take more outside the hood to make it then in it. The hood was the most fun and simplistic life I ever lived but it was a cap off and major risks involved. That’s why most fail making it out.
@ziggyinthecut

@@gyrlyninja The square is a label that is given to concepts or people that appear boring. If someone is labeled as a “square,” it is usually an insult that they are rigid, overly studious, too pragmatic, or very basic. This is how 9-5 workers are seen in ghettos and projects. Any man that wants to be seen as street, is an emotional man and emotional men are dangerous. people like you thinks its a badge of honor to be " cut out for the streets". however isnt not. its an emotional, dangerous lifestyle that few get out of without some mental trauma. Great people can make it out but think about the ones that the lifestyle consumes.

Young Brothers, as the sister of someone who has buried 2 children, PLEASE leave this life alone. If you feel like you can't get out, reach out to someone who is outside of the hood to seek insight and possible assistance. This life ain't worth it. I'm tired of mothers crying on the front row because the child they carried and birthed is laying in a casket. Don't do this to your mother and don't do it to someone else's mother. Don't have your mother struggling to put money on your books because you're locked up and begging her every month for money for toilet paper. Don't put your mother in the position to have to talk to you in chains through the glass. We are all the sum of our choices. You can choose differently. The choice is yours.

Just stay respectful, humble, don't gamble(unless you can afford to do so), don't involve yourself in anything that doesn't involve you. Do like I did: play cornhole, snort suboxone, buy an ounce of tobacco & relax. Do the time, don't let it do you. Make sure everyone in that phone & shower line knows you're next & DO NOT GIVE ANYONE A MF THING! That 1 scoop of coffee will turn into a bag of coffee in a week's time. Also, stay off the phone. The phone will make you miserable as hell & will extend your time.

My advice to men in their teens and twenties is to really take the time to understand your own psychology. Most people don’t have perfect parents and you tend to not realize your own deep insecurities established in childhood that really shape irrational thinking and how and who you form relationships with because you’re all you’ve ever known.

I love this video--so much you have motivated me to share something I rarely share. In todays life, I am 52 years old, and have a professional career in the field of therapy. I have been doing this for 17 years . What most never hear is what pushed me that way. I ended up in prison twice for drug charges (once for the charge, and once for parole violation, as well as 2 trips to pre release centers for violations. I was a meth/coke addict, that also engaged in lower/mid level sales to feed my addiction. It was all fun and games until I had happen exactly what you stated. I got out and realized the world had gone on in my absence. Friends were married, Friends had college degrees/careers, they had actually matured.Here I was with everything I owned in one duffel bag with the emotional maturity of a 10 year old because I never grew up. There was nothing cool about it. Sure you get status in that world by doing time but you get to a point where you realize "that world" is not good, it doesn't care about you and it brings nothing positive. I busted my ass to get clean and sober (22 years) put myself through college and now am seen as a professional. Most don't know the back story to it and are shocked when they hear it which I love because that means I am no longer seen as that kind of a person. The bragging rights I used claim are nothing short of embarrassments at this point in life. I never want to fall back into that way of life again. thx Bruce.

@@AnointedSong thank you very much. I don't mind sharing it circumstances where it can help. I just don't go around promoting it. I think that itself is a huge indicator things have changed. In the criminal world we wear that stuff like some kind of sick badge of honor. W video. I did not grow up in the ‘hood life’ by any means but I have a lot of friends that did and I think this is stuff a lot of them need to hear but they haven’t had anyone to tell it to them. It is so sad to see these kids grow up with gang members and criminals as their mentors and it’s even more sad that I understand why they do. It absolutely breaks my heart to see kids brought up in these poor conditions where they often times have to almost father themselves:(

I narrowly avoided a serious drug indictment and luckily it was the wakeup call I needed to change my life. I was making great money and had all the drugs I could have ever wanted, but I was looking over my shoulder at all times, had a small arsenal of guns in my house because I was constantly scared that the day would come where someone would decide to rob me for all the drugs I had, terrified that my family, who was innocent, would be hurt by some asshole who decided to target me because of all the shit I had. I got insanely lucky when people snitched and I somehow was able to walk away because they couldn't find my shit, but it was enough to shake me and wake me and get my shit together. Been sober for 9 months now and working a shit job but I'm happier now than I ever was.

This is the type of person I'd want to defend me. Someone who's real. I spent 7k on a lawyer who still lost and I did 5 years. With no evidence except a cop saying they seen me in a car. I was picked up 3 months after the fact just based on a cop saying I looked like a driver. Such bs she could hardly remember my name.

Very good message. My view: if your friends or family are criminals, thugs, liars, cheats... LEAVE THEM. Get the hell out of there. They WILL bring you down, and bring your family down. You will not be able to change them. Help those you can, but don't put your life in the hands of people who don't wish you well. Leave. Change your address and phone numbers and get off social media. Yes, it's tough, but so is going to prison, losing your freedom, dignity and life.

Representation ain't free, and there are a lot of lawyers that will take these young brothas money and give a half ass attempt to plead their case. And I can tell that you are so different from them. You actually care about people. Some people just chase dollars, and they don't care and they make all these excuses when they get called on it. It's just refreshing to see someone who cares. And I can tell that when a client hires you, it's money well spent!

@@pistolpete8231 People go to JAIL, yes PRISON for traffic crimes. You know why, because they're crimes. Flat out. Believe it or not, there are people who have NEVER broken the law, no traffic law, no assaults,...nothing. But I knew that wasn't the case with you, because usually the ones bashing black men are the ones following them when they are alone and doing lil weird murderous shyt that they believe that all white people should have the right to do. It's a sickness. You'll be alright. Karma does come.

Yea right…he has a hat that says “Stop self snitching” on his desk right next to him. Wouldn’t these communities be better off if the terrorizers of these communities kept snitching on themselves? Wouldn’t the communities be safer for families and your regular working class folks if the guys who were self snitching were locked up? It’s something strange about people who don’t want criminals who are telling on themselves to be locked up.
