First story: The irony of hiring a professional nanny and then telling her to not "parent" the kids, which very much involves disciplinary actions and is exactly what nanny's are hired to do, is testament to the mindset of Karens everywhere. There's a good reason that people are calling their consequently unruly kids "crotch goblins". It also makes me wonder if these moms ever spend as much time parenting their own kids as they should, or if the kids have only learned to be docile to their moms because they won't cut them any slack because of their volatile entitled mentalities. Second story: For some bosses, critical thinking is _a truckload_ of work. Hey, why are you booing? Third story: If you tell someone working in a certain field and being more skilled and knowledgeable about their own job and policies than you are that they "can't do their jobs", then you 100% deserve to be denied any and all of their services with no prior notice. They have no obligation to serve you when you feel no obligation to follow their policies. The service offered by private businesses is a privilege, not a human right. Fourth story: I've heard of people like these, and even seen cases of people acting very similar to this barista, and it's had me thinking that some people just shouldn't work in any kind of service industry with personal interactions. And why would anyone ever want to when all they do is act so bitter and self-important all the time? It only makes them look miserable and gives the businesses a bad reputation, which will only make things worse for everyone involved. Fifth story: If you won't pay your workers, they won't put in the effort to slave away for you. It's such a clear-cut way of how you should run a business, yet business owners like this still exists to make life hard for their likely already underpaid staff. Never settle for less than what your time and effort is worth.
@AtomicArtumas3 жыл бұрын
Arguably, there ARE people that have very good reason to hire a babysitter (especially if there's an actual baby involved) but also ask them to not discipline their children. THAT however wasn't one of those cases. When I was growing up I was way more responsible and competent at well, general life, than most of the adults around me (something something literal genius something something) and I had a VERY abnormal home life because of this, one that most babysitters wouldn't understand. Try to explain to a babysitter why I'm not doing homework after school on a school day, why I'm staying up until after midnight, and why I'm reading "adult" level books, like lotr and It, some of which (It..) include very adult themes... at the age of 10. They're not going to really understand. ...nor will they understand why a literal child can outdebate them and somehow prove why every issue in their life has happened and what they can do to improve it. (Most people I talked to online between the age of 12 and 15 thought I was in my mid to late 20s...) But most children aren't like that. Regardless of what their parents say or think. MOST children are... pure chaos, to put it simply. And they require constant effort to push them away from chaos and towards order. And it's such an issue that these days I legitimately don't know how anyone can "like" children. I can't imagine dealing with them on a constant daily basis for 18 years straight. Dealing with my nephews for literally just a single week drives me insane. It's just constant illogical nonsense and chaotic flip flopping of desires. All without a sense of time or a single care for the desires of others. Basically, if you're going to tell someone to not discipline your children when they're watching them, you better be damn well certain that your children aren't normal. Because normal children are unbearably chaotic messes that have no care in the world for anything but their own short sighted self interests.

Why are people rude to anyone who doesn't deserve it? Makes no sense. Repairmen, waitstaff, grocery store cashiers and baggers, customer service reps... they're just trying to do their jobs. Unless they're actually incompetent or malicious, be nice to them! They don't get paid enough to put up with abuse. Sidenote: EMTs around here make $13-15/hr, give or take. For comparison, fast food workers make $10-12/hr. One gives you the means to have a heart attack, the other has specialized training to save your life when you have that heart attack. EMTs see people at their worst. In pain, sick, even dying. People are nasty and abusive because they're (understandably) focused on what's going on with themselves. They're afraid, angry... and likely to lash out. And we EMTs are expected to remain calm, and to exercise out knowledge and training to keep patients from further injury or death long enough to get them to comprehensive care at a facility - if the patient allows us to transport them at all. Are you ok with knowing the person who may someday save your life, or the life of someone you love, is treated like crap and paid close to what a burger-flipper makes? /endrant

I have minor physical tourettes, this means I twitch and make small noises but luckily enough don't have large swearing outbursts (only 2% of tourettes sufferers swear) but one thing thatany don't realise comes with tourettes is constant intrusive thoughts, it is damn near impossible to quiet my mind. I've recently come to realise that rslash is my meditation. Listening to the stories switches off all the other noise in my head and I can just listen as I cook/clean or just need to relax. It's certainly not the traditional form of meditation, but it's the only thing I've found that can truly quiet my mind, even just for a few minutes. So thank you 💕

From story 1: That bordered on pro revenge also. From the hot chocolate story: I would have pulled a Karen on that one and once he was fired and leaving. I would head out there and give him a Christmas beating.

It's really silly arguing with airline staff at the airport. The most one can do is to delay the flight but would still be sued afterwards

Admittedly, that first story is why I do not want to deal with small children (and I'm in 8th grade). They're too energetic and crazy and they make me nervous ;v;

The quality of the construction materials is more important than anyone would ever imagine. I am writing this after the building collapse in South Florida that killed over a hundred people. They are now finding many buildings in the Miami area that have structural defects. I wonder if past bribes contributed to this.

In the summer, I got a flight from my state in the northeast to a flight in the mid west. I had three connecting flights and spend most of the day waiting or in the air. Each port I was in and each flight I was on said 'if you do not follow covid prevention regulations by wearing a face mask, you will be barred from this and possibly future flights'. I could say it back perfectly because I heard it so often.. No one died of asthma, everyone put on their adult pantaloons and it was actually relaxing. No weirdos coughing at eachother or screaming karens... I was lucky x3
