I love that a group of guys threw OP a baby shower! That's incredibly sweet! It reminds me of my old job, except there weren't any guys in my department. I was newly engaged. One of the girls in my department took it upon herself to throw me a Bachelorette party at her home. She bought snacks and drinks, made phallic shaped rice Krispy treats, and baked a cake. The other girls in the department came and we drank and played Cards Against Humanity and laughed for hours! It made me cry, because I didn't expect it at all, and no one who wasn't family had ever planned anything like that for me before. It's still one of my fondest memories seven years later.😊

Because of short staffing, she has been closing manager despite working mornings since I've worked there. She doesn't seem to get how it works. I spent a 5 hour shift basically just putting things away and helping a few customers here and there, then took garbage back. My favorite union grievance as a civil servant location was this. We had about 3 or 4 supervisors and a new work condition was verbally given without a written background and explanation. So, each of the supervisors had their own take on that. One especially would flip every 15 minutes on what it meant. My informal grievance was submitted asking only for the policy be written down into a coherent and available document. After a month if an informal grievance isn’t dealt with it went up to the regional manager as a formal grievance. So, I get a call from the regional manager to ask how we could resolve this grievance. I stated that I wanted the policy to be published as a clear document. He then asked, “Your version of it.” No, I stated, theirs. There was a pause on the phone call (guessing that a silent WTF! Went off in his mind). He said he would get right on it and it was done. This regional manager was a great guy and I never had problems with him, and one occasion he helped me do maintenance on a machine while at our office without being asked. One last thing, our unit manager lost his yearly bonus, as that was automatic if a grievance went formal. I just got tired of the stupidity of local supervisors.

The last story reminds me of something that happened a couple weeks ago at my job. Currently I work at a grocery store as a cashier, and part of my job includes weighing and ringing up produce (as well as some fish and shrimp). One night, a guy goes through my lane with multiple things of produce and a bag of shrimp. I personally take pride in how fast I can run through people's transactions, so in my usual manner, I speed through ringing everything up. But after I take care of the shrimp, he pulls it back out and tells me to weigh it again because it was "supposed to be 2lbs, not 3." I roll my eyes at this and I try to tell him that that's what came up when I weighed it. But he insists. So I take the bag back and put it on the scale, and I start trying to show him it was that weight. But wouldn't you believe it, I was wrong! I tell him, "I'm so sorry, it looks like something happened with my scale earlier, I'll go ahead and fix it." The shrimp, without anything else added to it, was actually 3.8lbs, not 3.2 as I originally weighed it. I make sure to leave the shrimp on the scale and show him with the sweetest lil eye crinkles I can muster since surely he is unable to see the grossly sweet smile under my mask. He narrows his eyes at the screen and goes "wait, why is it more expensive now??" clearly upset at how I fixed my mistake. I let him know that something must have gone wrong the first time I rang the shrimp through and that this was the actual price-- that I was sorry for the inconvenience, as I put the shrimp back in a grocery bag and handed it back to him. (He wasn't too happy about this, I wonder why?) Honestly, I still have no clear idea why it initially rang up less expensive, I was probably going too fast for my scale to properly keep up. But if I ever see that man again, I'll be sure to properly weigh his shrimp on the first go!

I swear the charity story was from my town. We had a lady running a charity that helped the homeless and addicted. She likely was on burn out but she got so nasty. I watched her chew out an employee for missing a big play item when she checked someone out. It was a $3.00 or $5.00 item and she was chewing this girl a new anal opening in front of the rest of us waiting to check out. Finally a customer intervenes and gently says, “It isn’t like you paid for the item in the first place.” It was a charity thrift shop. Al goods were donated. The manager goes off even more and tells the lady to “Get Out!” The nice lady was stunned! I who should also have said something but was still embarrassed for the sales girl getting reamed and now this lady just stood staring. She finally verbally kicked the nice lady out and that was that. She left the room and I finished checking out and reassuring the poor clerk that what she did was make a simple mistake and need not feel so bad. I also told her that her manager chewing her out in front of everyone was just plain wrong. I felt bad for not having said more! Not too long after this a different charity absorbed the older charity and took over the good work they did. I was so glad. I would occasionally see the former manager at church functions in the community and wonder how she could have been so unhinged in front of the public. Those of us who shopped there were a mix of well off all the way to dirt poor and the lady she threw out was well off and likely someone who spent a lot on the higher end collectible donated items and likely would have donated her self. That last story reminds me of something that happened yesterday at work. My job runs a service where you're able to trade in certain devices for credit, but an employee needs to appraise it and enter in their information into the system, to get you an estimate of credit. Some guy comes in and hands me a large pretty good quality laptop. I give it a once over and say It looks like it's good quality, and mark that in the system. Giving them over 100$ I credit; my job requires that I look for a serial number on the device to enter in and as I'm looking I notice damage I didn't see before, I remark oh this and said "usually that would take the estimate down but-" "So you didn't do the appraisal right, you shouldn't work in cars that would really cost you there" the guy interrupted me to say this. As if I didn't have full power to mark it down as broken and give him nothing. Well now I'm fully invested in fixing the mistake and I also notice a screen issue, the device was touch screen, but would mess up and get glichy every time I would touch the screen. Bingo I explain to him that we really wouldn't be able to accept the device under the circumstances that we itwas broken and has usability issues, but we're willing to be fair and mark it a little higher give him something. He starting whining about losing some of the credit (it went down to 50) but I reminded him that the only other option was nothing Be went home with 50 dollars

I think she was actually concerned that she was getting more fish than she paid for and didn't want to rip the store off. I think sometimes people need to chill and realize that a lot of situations are just miscommunication and peoples bias and (mis)perceptions filling in what they think is happening as opposed to what is. lol
@L3onking2 жыл бұрын
That's a really considerate perspective. I completely agree with you. My ex and I had a really great relationship because before we would get into an argument I would try to find where the miscommunication happened.

The only baby shower I recall going to involved basically the whole family, men included. At that point, the gender wasn’t known and we all guessed the gender and birthdate of the baby. I got the gender right and was only a day off with the birthdate.

I was an In and Out Burger in Prescott, AZ (Happened back in 2007). Standing in line, a Karen wanted to see a manager because she was given a Double-Double ($7.89) instead of a regular cheeseburger ($6.69) (only difference is two patties vs one patty), she also got a large fry. She was SO outraged. Like, ma'am, you got *more* for less money. I will never understand people who will complain, specifically about fast food.

I disagree with the statement from the end of a story in this video "its only mail". that letter could be from the army saying how someone died, it could also be something important on those lines
@popcornpony84202 жыл бұрын
Honestly I thought the first story is that Karen slapped a pregnant op, but she didn't know she was pregnant. So op go to HR and filled a complaint. They look at the security camera and see what happens. Karen realize what she did and got fired. Also maybe a lawsuit for attacking pregnant lady. I'm glad she didn't slapped her though.

Wait, is it common that baby showers are for women only? I’ve been to lots & they’ve all been for any friends & family who can attend, regardless of gender, as long as they got an invitation.

Until the last couple of decades it was very common men were either not allowed or didn't care to go to baby showers but during the last few years it's more common for men to join and be encouraged to join especially fathers as it's their baby to

I dont think that Baby showers are mostly women anymore. I know it wasn't in my case. It was 90% guys. They did a great job too but made it more guy friendly by having the place throw in a free keg of beer for the event and they picked a lot of the prizes for the baby shower games. They were mostly car of fishing related. I had one person tell me it wasn't right to have guys at a shower but I said to her they are my friends and why should they be excluded bc they're guys.

Hey rslash I love ur content, commentary, and video format and professionalism. However I have two complaints. Your videos are too short and sometimes you repeat stories which really gives us a short episode sometimes it feels like wow we got 1 new story read to us. Yea I know I could just go to Reddit and read them myself but it lets me visualize stories more when read anyways sorry for the rant but please try not to give us repeat stories

Okay, the post office story: The man was an asshole, yes. But I got triggered by this sentence: "when you finally drag your butt to pick it up". Like we want to go to the post office. In my country, it's very common that the mailman doesn't ring the bell, to check if you are at home, so if you have to sign something to get your mail, you don't get it. I work at home most of the time, and it happened countless times, that I just saw a notification to go to the post office. So when I "finally drag my butt to pick it up" I'm pissed. (I'm not rude to tha staff there, because they are not the mailman.) But don't be rude to us.

I honestly don't know too much about unions but from what I've heard I think they should be allowed and perhaps even mandated by law (in the US). Too many employers screw over employees that in turn have little to no recourse. Perhaps if service industry and retail job workers had a union, they wouldn't have to put up with Karen type customers BS (not too much anyway, wouldn't want the waitstaff or cashier ETC. to turn karen type instead, entitlement can go both ways).

I am pausing the video after the postal worker story to write this. About five years ago, I was in my driveway checking the camping gear in the trunk of my car getting ready for trip. The postal carrier rolls by, stops at my box, and drops off a letter. I finish checking things, and head over to see what was left. It was a "Sorry we missed you" notification for a certified letter. This idiot missed me standing right there in my driveway. I am 6 feet tall, and 320lbs. When I am right there in my driveway, you don't miss me. You are too goddam lazy to do your job. Of course, this has nothing to do with the OP in the story read here, being that she worked inside the branch, but the drivers in my neighborhood ARE that lazy and irresponsible.

Firstly, it’s not “only Mail” who knows what was inside? Maybe test results from a hospital, maybe documents needing signing for a life saving operation. Maybe the ransom letter they’ve been waiting for to save their families lives? Secondly, a split toe nail and you have to go on to light duties? If that’s what OP thinks pain is then they are in for a rude awakening if they ever break a bone for real. Let’s not even get started about child birth.

Yeah, story three is one of those scare tactics they love to throw around about unions and stuff. They cost too much, they make it so lazy works don't get off their duff and do their jobs, etc. But, in my experience, limited as it is, I've yet to meet a union that doesn't try to do their jobs. It's usually a management problem that causes issues, or worse, the management trying to screw the union over. To be fair, that's 3 unions, and not ones I was part of, as I was an outsider in all 3 places, but in at least 1 of them, the assholes in admin kept trying to throw them under the bus, as if THEY were costing the company money, whereas the admins in that place pulled down almost twice what everyone else did in total, and in 3 months, they did one piece of real work. Needless to say, we cleaned house of the upper staff there, and promoted from the floor instead.

3:36 From what I understand from an _I_ _Love_ _Lucy_ episode, men can throw a baby shower, too; however, the episode depicts them throwing one for Ricky (the father) while the ladies threw one for Lucy (the mother).

For the 5th story. My town is pretty small so there isn’t too much mail that comes through so, the lady that works the counter can find your package in less then a minute. Even if it took 3+ minutes I wouldn’t complain because it’s 3 MINUTES!

One of the KZbinrs I watch was expecting a son but she had to be in the hospital for a few months and so her husband's office actually threw a baby shower for him which I thought was pretty cool because you're right usually it's the women but I think that should change we should celebrate men just as much
