Same with looking at a clock/telling the time. Of course, it doesn't work for me because Dream Me is Stupid and thinks these things are completely normal-

Every time I hear the "WHY DON'T CELLPHONES SHOW UP IN OUR DREAMS!?" thing I'm like, suddenly remembering over 30 dreams that have involved any cellphone I've ever owned. I guess I'm weird ... because I've legit had my phone show up in my dreams - as everything. It's been a clock, a camera [like still clearly a phone but it's used as these things] and I even have had MANY A DREAM when my alarm is going off and won't shut up that is actually me in the dream trying to silence a DREAM phone ... until I actually wake up lol

I think it's generally hard for brains bc phones are v text-based and I have read somewhere that's it's really difficult to actually read during a dream, like it makes you kinda conscious? Idk. I've dreamt about my phone but I can never decipher what it says when I look at it, or I'm in the middle of texting (in theory) but I can't read any of the texts, it's just the concept hah

The expiration date isn't there for that reason though. It's there because the regulations say that all things must have an expiry date, and nonexpiry items usually get a stamp of a year or two later from the production line

11:11 This actually makes sense. The problem wants you to take two from nine to fill up the missing hole between eight and ten, then add the remaining seven from the original nine. This is actually how I do mental math, albeit a bit faster and on reflex since I have practice. Since mental math and quick learning are the only two reasons I'm in honours math, I applaud this seemingly insane teaching strategy. And for those at home, the correct answer is 8+2+7

One time I did try to use my phone in a dream. I was trying to download a McDonalds app to skip the massive line in the store, but every time I tried to type in McDonalds, it typed a different word. Almost half of my dreams are super realistic things that I would actually do and I get confused in the morning when I haven't done those things (ex: normal dream about scanning cards at work or playing a game on my phone)

1:14 "you ever just get a sharp stabbing pain in one of your organs and you think 'ah frick it's finally happening'" yes, yes I do, and I did recently see I have an ongoing health issue that basically means that ever since I was 12 years old and was first diagnosed with this medical issue, I've known EXACTLY how I am going to die, the issue is I have a degenerative spinal deformity, essentually as I grow older my spine curves in more and more, every single person who has had this deformity has died the exact same way!, their spine eventually becomes so curved, that it folds in on itself, compresses the chest, collapses the lungs and you suffocate to death yeah lovely! so in 2021 when I firrst started having massive chest pains and coughing fits and found myself unable to breathe, I thought "oh frick it's finally happening" no, turns out I ALSO have a pericardial infection, which means a viral infection has gotten into my heart, and caused it to become swollen and inflamed., luckily that can be controlled by medication fast forward to this spring when I again start these same symptoms, along with being unable to eat, and massive pain in my entire torso, and I once again thought "oh frick it's finally happening" no, turns out this time it wasn't my spine OR my heart, but my stomach had decided to relocate from my abdominal cavity into my chest cavity, and in doing so it tore a giant hole in my diaphragm and was compressing my lungs! this time I needed a surgery to put my stomach back where it belongs and stitch it to my abdominal wall to make sure it doesn wander around again! crap like this is why I tell people my body is a genetic dumpster fire and I would rather just put my brain in a robot body at this point

11:10 The question messed with my head, but I think I realise what they were trying to do. Sometimes when I add up in my head I first add up to a round number, see what's left, and add that up from there. So if for some reason I was struggling with 8+9, I'd do 8+2, then plus the 7 that are left from the 9. Apparently they were trying to teach it that way as well, but it's something you have to prefer and shouldn't really ask on a test, rather suggest to the students to be one way of solving the problem.

Yeah I think the question should have said “Rewrite the problem so one of the numbers is 10 and helps you get the same sum as 8 + 9”. Because I understand the objective, it’s just from how I understand it, some older people don’t reinterpret how numbers work and just instinctively learn that X + Y = Z and it just is which is of no fault to them as it accomplishes the same result, but it’s a very fixed way of learning.

I totally agree, this is how I added small numbers in my head since I learned how to add, but what happened is they overanalyzed how the human brain processes numbers, then made a huge generalization of how everyones brains work (especially children which are notable variable) and decided to teach them all one specific way of finding and answer apart from memorization. It's a bit like the old fashioned hand subtraction method or division method. There are other ways to do it but if you punish kids for not doing it the "correct way" even if the answer is correct, you literally inhibit their ability to learn.

11:14 I think they’re teaching how to add. Work out how many tens there are. Then work out the units (remainder). So, to work out 8+ 9, you make one of them 10 and count the remainder. 9 is close to 10. If you add one, it will move into the tens column. Take that one from the 8 and we get 10 + 7 =17. In other words, 9+8 becomes 9+(1+7) becomes 10+7 =17

Without the context of the lesson this should be part of, it's a nonsense question that's poorly phrased, and yeah, any adult who can intuitively do addition will be unable to read this without thinking hard about it.

I think the thing about Deodorant is talking of how sweating originally evolved to attract another person but eventually became a sign of uncleanliness. Look into monkeys or something I remember hearing it in a CBBC show once on puberty where two twin Doctors presented called Operation Ouch. (I started that not knowing its name but just laying out the setting made it come to me.)

I'm gonna be honest, I get the 8+9 thing because that's pretty much how I do it in my head. It makes sense. You have 8+9. You take from one number and add it to the other until you get 1 up to 10, so 10+7. Then you add the 2 numbers much easier. I think the illustration shows it quite well actually

The reason that the 250 million year old salt had an expiration date was not because the salt expired. It's from plastic seepage. The plastic was contaminating the salt and making it unsafe for human consumption. Salt stored in glass or metal containers don't expire.

The fruit trees are fine. We have plums in some of the public parks here and I occasionally use my height to reach up and help people get them. Nobody messes with or sabotages them and if they did, you could just: •Not eat from that one. •Arrest the person responsible.

12:30 (ish) Actually is not a hassle at all. They do this all the time in California. They have orange trees and agave (a type of edible cactus) all over the place. They leave the fruit for the homeless and whoever else to just take and eat. There are no issues because it's just seen as "it's your own fault" if you get sick. People even quote the bible (smt smt leave 1/3 of your crops for the poor or smt...) I think it's the same as those people who forage for edible plants in national parks. 🤔

11:00 pretty sure they're teaching the "wraparound" at the 10s place there and are expecting something along "8 plus 2 to get to 10, then we have 7 left from the original 9, so 10 + 7 = 17" but OMG write your questions better! it's not the student's fault if the teacher failed to phrase the assignment. 14:40 honestly tho if someone's first reaction to what i just sent them was "ugh" and an implication of finding me too childish, i wouldn't put up too much effort in the flirting anyway :P
