The fact that Ken Kozakiewicz was Embarrassed about his emotion shows how messed up the world we live in. the fact that the world we live in would entrain a man to feel embarrassment at crying over his Dead Friends Body in the middle of a War is truly heartbreaking. @@JYoungbloodVO most people are very desencitized to these things i know i am, but how the hell does history make you feel horrible? He didn't live through it, and doing this pays him as i said before. You always hear horrible things on the news often. However, how many of those people who say "OH THATS HORRIBLE!" Will remember the accident? Most people go "oh" and go on with their lives. You think he didn't do the same?

Man I remember hearing the story about the Summers' a bit ago and it hurts just as much hearing it this time. They seemed like such a lovely couple who were just trying their hardest to help someone they cared for. Can you imagine at 15 years old being courageous enough to sacrifice yourself to save countless others! He didn’t have time to weigh his options, he just acted. A human being is born with self preservation instincts that override any emotions or thoughts automatically as a way of staying alive….it’s literally encoded in our DNA. And that young man pushed those instincts aside without hesitation, knowing he was about to die a very brutal death. If that’s not a hero, then I don’t know what is.

Similar to the topic of the student who sacrificed his life, in my secondary school we have assemblies to celebrate both WW1 & 2 because students from my school were conscripted in both wars. I know you get these from Reddit, but I think you should definitely do the series of images depicting Gunnery Sergeant Ryan P. Shane attempting to rescue his friend, Sergeant Lonny D. Wells. On November 9th, 2004, in the middle of the battle of Fallujah, Sergeant Lonny Wells would be shot by a sniper while attempting to cross an open street. Gunnery Sergeant Ryan Shane, seeing his friend in such a helpless position, darted into the open. He was soon joined by another Marine, and they both attempted to drag Sergeant Wells to safety. However, a sniper bullet soon found Gunney Shane’s stomach, and he fell to the ground. In the final of 4 photos, you see Gunnery Sergeant Shane laying on the ground next to his friend. Gunney Sergeant Shane would live, Sergeant Lonny Wells would not. Gunney Shane would be awarded the Medal of Honor, and later said: “I cannot believe that my greatest achievement as a soldier, was also my greatest failure as a friend.” I think this story is only fitting for a series like this.
