Ya know what makes that much easier, 2 plastic horses, a small piece of plywood to make a table & work off the ground. Even an old card table and some cardboard helps. A lot better on knees & back. 😁
@Paisteboy Жыл бұрын
I'm sure you're right. It's pretty tight in the garage and I'm not sure I could fit a sheet of plywood in the area at the time. Maybe next time. Thanks for watching.

Not for nothing but people who see a leaking shock want to take it out and get it rebuilt. So the way you demonstrated install only helps if people took out the whole skid. WoW a lot more work.
@Paisteboy11 ай бұрын
That's fine. I don't want to struggle removing and installing shocks with the skid still installed. I know it can be done without pulling the skid but things are so tight in there that I find it easier to just pull the skid first.
@Paisteboy11 ай бұрын
This is also part 2. PART 1 shows how to remove the skid and the shocks. Unless you do this all the time it is far harder to remove and reinstall the shocks with the skid installed in the sled.

It's funny how far rear suspensions have come. My Blizzard 5500mx was considered " long travel" in the early 80's . Lol. Cool vid Paisteboy .

Yes. For sure. The r-motion still has the most travel in the industry. Let's see what the future holds? Thanks for watching.

@@Paisteboy what do u think of Polaris Rush rear suspension? The one that has a mono shock above the track .

Great vids ! A lot of guys put brass bushings in....called oil lite I think. Might think about it when you need to replace the stock ones.

I'm familiar with the oil lite. Sure Sure Grip Dollies have oil lite bushings on them. If the need replacing in the future I'd consider it. Thanks for watching.

hey guys if you cut a 2x4 to fit in between the rails in front of the limiter strap and use some cedar shake shims that thd sells between the 2x4 and rails to help spread it apart it helps a lot I have a polaris and thats how I service the shocks. give it a try next time

Hi love the videos man. Is there a torque spec on the idler wheel when you are all set adjust the track? And what is the slack measurement on the track to the rail when it’s hanging? Thanks in advance
@Paisteboy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jerry. I'm sure there is a torque spec but I don't know what it is. I just tightened it back up about how hard it felt to loosen it. As far as track tension there is a tool you can but to set the slack/tension but I just used feel and visual to set mine. You should also check it again after the first ride to see if it's still set the same.

Do i tightened the front bolts before starting the back?
@Paisteboy Жыл бұрын
Hand tighten all bolts when reassembling the skid then wrench tighten all bolts last once the skid is fully assembled.

Nice clean install, you guys made it look easy! Did you ask your shock guy about the front shocks & when would he recommend they be rebuilt? How much did it cost? Were the rebuilt shocks already adjusted for you, or do you need to hit the trail and adjust them a bit? What criteria does he rebuild them to, weight and riding style? Thanks, another quality worthwhile video!
@Paisteboy5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. He recommended rebuilding the fronts as well but I couldn't have the sled hoisted up in the air at both ends in the garage. I'll do them soon. He set the shocks up the same way they were when I bought it. The rebuild was 35 per shock and 32 for the seal for the blown shock. 102 total for 2 shocks and one seal. Thanks for watching.

@Paisteboy2 жыл бұрын
We didn't use a ratchet strap if remember correctly.
@BlueRage2 жыл бұрын
@@Paisteboy I'm just doing mine and it has the Quick Adjuster System...what a pain. I did have to ratchet strap and the QAS leaves no room in the skid for a ratchet strap.

I have done that in the past but the quick adjust system makes it harder. Shock rebuilds too. At least we'll be riding soon!

For the mounting location on the upper mount the rear shock , unless you’re sled is an XRS there is only one mounting location. Maybe you need upgraded torsion springs.. , stocks ones are really only good to 200 LBS.
@Paisteboy5 жыл бұрын
Didn't know that the XRS was the only one with the 2 holes option for shock mounting. As far as the stock springs go, I am well under 200 pounds. I was pushing it last season but I've lost over 30 pounds since last season.

No. I have the stock exhaust on the sled. Anything but stock is illegal in New York State and I just don't want to get hassled by the cops. I will definitely make a report if the rebuilt shock difference in the next ride video. We are planning on going to OF next weekend but the weather report looks terrible right now and if that ends up accurate we won't be going. This season has been a disappointment so far.

The sled has almost 3000 miles on it but I think the rear shock blew at around 2900 miles. The last ride was 158 miles.
