Sled is looking so clean. What are those scratchers you were talking about, those round coil things? There are a lot of sleds for sale locally and I have a trail in Clarence that is 1/2 mile from my house. So tempting...
@Paisteboy5 жыл бұрын
Hey Craig. The scratchers are put down when you want or need extra snow under the sled to lube the sliders and cover the heat exchanger to cool the sled down. I used them the whole time on the first ride this season since the snow was very hard packed. You should buy a sled. Not sure if you've ever ridden sleds but you'd probably love it.

If u have a spare 22mm wrench and a grinder you can grind down the wrench to make it thin enough.That's if your in a pinch.
@Paisteboy5 жыл бұрын
I thought about that. Gary said he might have a couple extra wrenches that size to do just that but another friend that was going to be in town that I Borrowed the wrench from when I did the tunnel mounted ice scratcher video, let me borrow it again.

Monster performance does decent work, however he costed me 2 yrs of drama, I kept blowing my front skid shock blew it 3 times in 1 season, couldn’t figure out what was goin on each time the shock went it took out the lower shaft, Ian always got me fast turn arounds, but after the 3rd blow I sent it off to carver performance and he did it and once again she blew first ride, so I spoke to amazing customs abt the issue he told me to send him the shock so he could inspect it, the day he got it he called me and explained the reason I was having issues was because I had a KYB off a Yamaha, so somehow monster got my shock mixed up with someone else’s or some crap, the only shock guy who figured this all out was amazing customs thank god for him haha not 1 damn issue since he did me the right one,

Great story and good info to know about. I'm I had mine rebuilt by my friend. If he had done them any fast I would have been present during the rebuild.

I'm confused about the special wrench part myn has like a horseshoe ring clamp on the backside of the bolt is that what you have also?
@Paisteboy3 жыл бұрын
It's a 22mm thin nut on the backside of the tunnel.
@joeguyzreviews67983 жыл бұрын
@@Paisteboy I see a horseshoe clamp on the backside does it fit in between that and the tunnel?
@Paisteboy3 жыл бұрын
@@joeguyzreviews6798 Yes. Watch my ice scratcher video. It shows it better.

I've done both my old sleds track/skid install by myself. Get some good small ratchet straps and you'll be golden.
@Paisteboy5 жыл бұрын
Nice. You'll see in Part 2 that we didn't even use a ratchet strap to get it back in. We used another method to get it in and lined up. Thanks for watching.

Had Monster do mine as well for my Rev. Had a front shock go out this year. That was 2009 so it was due. And you get a cool Monster Performance sticker!!! Kept everybody guessing what was done to that sled!😎

I have a friend that does shocks and I had them back in about 2 hours. No mix up with other customers shocks to worry about either. A mix up was stated to happen there by someone in another comment.

Seems like people like Monster, which is great, but I am able to keep it local.
@robertreinhart75575 жыл бұрын
I talked to him as well and he told me that there are plenty of good shock people out there who can do a good job. His concern is to just maintain your shocks after awhile for optimal performance. I had a local guy do mine as well now. No cool sticker though.....
@Paisteboy5 жыл бұрын
@@robertreinhart7557 Yeah. I didn't get any sticker either but I probably saved 50 to 100 dollars. Lol.

I was wondering if you were gonna do a vid of this, after your ride with the busted shock....nice ! I second the motion to send em to Ian at Monster Performance for rebuild.

Yup. They're done. Had the rebuilt locally by a friend. Had them back in about 2 hours.

Not sure yet. Maybe and X-package 850? I'm not sure if I'm getting one next year at this point. A lot can change by the the end of the season.

Hey, did you know the pre load collar on your front skid was already way off before you started wrenching. Look at the vid again. Might be why she was riding rough? See you in old forge this year heading up in 2 weeks again
@Paisteboy5 жыл бұрын
Ok. Thanks I'll look at that again.
@Paisteboy5 жыл бұрын
I looked at it and it's fine. I found this explanation online. What you are seeing is the dual rate coil-over springs. When the plastic slider hits two stop rings on the body, only the lower spring continues compressing and the spring rate drastically increases. When properly designed this transition will improve handling and increase bottoming control without being harsh.
