Just curious how someone could possibly a gotten the wrong email and continue to believe it the right one for that long. Oh well, at least it has a funny ending.

there's enough emails out there that they could have just so happened to be similar enough for a typo, or she could have seen gregory's email address and misremembered what it was as she entered it.

A LOT of E-mails are the same with little differences like a long string of numbers at the end. I'm not sure the last time you made an Email but it is HARD to get a 100% unique email without numbers or special characters now a days... So this mix up could have been as easy as dialing the wrong phone number by mixing up the last 2 numbers.
@Hellow68

When Gmail first started out, my dad got really excited and got emails for every family member even tho my siblings were like 1 or 2 at the time. All of us have unique emails with just our name. My dads first name is kind of common but he managed to get an email with just that name.

@@SailorMya I've never had an issue creating an email account whenever I've wanted to and not had to use numbers or other characters. However most people go with what's easy and fast, versus spending a little extra time trying to get a totally unique user name, whenever it's possible.

Yeah, I am utterly astonished by the idiocy of calling in noise complaints over an empty apartment. Gregory probably grows calendulas in his window box or some other random thing that makes Karen and her son hate him with an abiding hate. Gad, I think society would be better off if certain people were addicted to drugs, instead of anger or cruelty.

That whole Gregory story gives me "Don't fuck with the IT guy" vibes. Specifically, if you're engaged in a technological "battle" with someone then you had best make sure you know *exactly* what you're doing and know *a lot*, because that's a domain in which the phrase "knowledge is power" can basically be taken literally.

Second Story: It will never cease to amaze me how people can mock certain lines of work while simultaneously expecting to receive anything from that line of work. If it was really "just a side gig", there obviously wouldn't be profit to be had. If it was really "just a side gig", you wouldn't be expecting OP to help you by using his perks, much less even be interested in the event since it's "just a side gig" and clearly not important. This Karen goes right up there with people who call "burger flipping" not a real job while expecting their burgers to come out looking like they do in advertisements.

If he got their names and where she worked, he could've found their address as well. You can do so much more with an actual physical address. Such as sending them a letter with a return address of just "Gregory", and the letter just says "I'm coming to see you soon. Real soon." Send it to a friend or relative that lives in another state, and have them re-mail it to disguise the source. Then just do nothing but let them stew in their own fear. Edit: Ooh even better idea, write it in blood. You can get some blood from a butcher, just say you're trying a recipe for blood pudding by way of explanation for the odd request.

In high school, I used to volunteer for a few local theaters, and there was this one that I was at for a couple of summers. I was their ONLY tech person for the camps, so I was their stage manager, sound tech, lighting tech, prop master, costume "designer," and set "designer." Basically, I did the equivalent work of a college production stage manager. It's stressful and SO much work, but so satisfying when it comes together. I major in technical theater now, and after taking a class on stage managing and scoring a Zoom meeting with the original stage managers from a pretty well known Broadway musical, I can say with 100% certainty that unless it's a show I really, REALLY love, I will NEVER be a stage manager. At most, I MIGHT think about being an ASM. The amount of work and organization it takes makes my head spin just THINKING about it!

Socks story: OMG. This man sounds like my partner, i'm crying. 😂 Pulling out socks from the couch is part of the cleaning routine in this house. (As for why shove socks inside a couch, it's unintentional. He takes them off when he's laying on the couch, and the motion of peeling them off with his feet shoves them into the cushions at the same time. It took me a while to realize this was why the couch is constantly full of socks.)

story 2: So crazy to see my profession in a reddit story! As someone who does stage management and assistant stage management the OP is even negating the amount of work they actually do. Often the SM and ASM will have to be at every single rehearsal an hour before and an hour after, and every director i know at even a small theatre will want to run rehearsals ~4 days a week from 5pm-10pm. With the buffer of each hour that’s 4-11pm four days a week, and that’s just the rehearsal processes. Tech week(s) will be 10 hours every single day often including weekends, AND THEN the show actually opens. Not to mention tech week is when the Stage Manager really takes the show from the directors hands. it’s a big responsibility and a show couldn’t run with a stage management team.

I hate people who complain about every little noise because it makes the main office not take others seriously. When my wife and I moved into our first apartment we had an absolutely horrible upstairs neighbor. She would chase her kid around and beat her, even in the dead of night, and have people over at night that she would get into horrible screaming matches with. It got so bad that we started going to the office to complain (not once did we go to her door). When she got a notice about it, she came down to our apartment and pounded on the door. My wife answered (this was before we started transitioning) while I was in another room and got chewed out by this lady. She didn't even say a word back to her. Next day we get a notice on OUR door telling us that this is our only warning and that they would not tolerate us calling our neighbor such racist things. Apparently she told the office "the single man downstairs called me the n-word and threatened to beat me". I went to the office to defend my wife and we ended up moving to a different building later on. She finally got kicked out a couple months after some new people moved into our old apartment. Guess they finally figured out that she was full of bullshit when the new people made the same complaints lol! I really hope that kid is ok though. The sounds were absolutely awful to listen to. We called security a couple of times because of it, but they did absolutely nothing

This is why people say never break more than one law at a time, and if your going to commit a crime don't attract any attention like constantly making false complaints requiring the people that you should be avoiding coming around all the time. also the landlord must be pretty nice to give them the opportunity to rent a bigger space for more money, most would probably just kick them out altogether especially after the BS.

In the US, at least, these get duplicated an shared with higher level campaigns and then passed around to all other campaigns in perpetuity. It is really potent if you have their phone number. They will be asked to donate, volunteer, get updates for cycle after cycle. I have been getting messages for a George for over 10 years now. In this time I have learned that George lives/lived in Houston, TX, is Black, and graduated sometime in the early 2000. Why Socks in the sofa: sitting down from a long day and take off your socks, too lazy to take them to the hamper. Leaving them on the floor makes a mess. Stuffing them in the couch makes them out of sight out of mind. Only works when you live alone and dont care about smells. Dogs bring them out (juicy stinky socks) and bigger problem than before. Solution: small hamper for socks out of reach of dogs. Basketball them over there and u can just add the socks to the regular hamper when you pass by.

Oh my gosh I had the same thing happen to me! It started with getting some emails from the NHS about an upcoming appointment the person had. I live in Australia, I've never had any contact with the NHS. I thought that these were pretty serious so I emailed them back to resolve the problem, I didn't want this person to potentially miss an important doctor's visit. I thought that would be the end of it. Nope. About two months later they rented a car in Scotland. Again, I live in Australia. I called the rental agency and tried to get it sorted. I suggested maybe they call the person and let them know that what they obviously thought was their email address, was not. I kept getting emails about the car. Details of insurance, reviews for the agency, pick up time and location etc. It went on for weeks. I called twice but I was calling the main office and the people sending the emails were a franchise and apparently the franchise didn't do anything. Eventually on my third international call, they transferred me to the franchise and I explained the issue. Never got another email. I hope the person got to their doctor on time.

Story1: LOL. Karen committed cyber harassment on company time & got fired. Good for OP for actually getting that info (even knowing how to get it) and then contacting the CEO about it. Story2: FAFO. Story3: Socks can actually be dangerous to some dogs. There are dogs who swallow them. A friend of mine had a dog who would swallow them and ended up needing surgery. The husband was told repeatedly to not leave his socks lying around. The last time the dog ate the socks she had surgery but didn't survive.

The mother in law from the second story is smoking something. Being an assistant stage director for tech can be really difficult work. When doing stage directoring, you have to make sure that the actors are doing the right thing at the right time, saying the right things, making sure that the lights are being activated properly, making sure that the set is being built, the costumes are proper, the makeup is correct, the sounds are playing properly, and microphones are working, etc. Being a stage director is difficult work.

The ones saying IP backtrack isn't real, really need to have a base level knowledge of what Google tracks on you. Hint: everything. Your strike patterns on your phone, geo location even if the phone location is off, microphone and camera even with permissions turned off as it is part of the user agreement on all smart phones this is allowed. You can go through hours of work when you FIRST get your phone to actually get all these turned off but your phone 1) has to be new and 2) there isn't really any ways to stop it the tracking from a computer tower usage and location. Even VPN isn't useful when it comes to hiding from Google. Scary honestly when you start to see it all.

Lengthy post but this happened when I was and 17 and over a period of about 6 months when living at home. This was in 2008-2009, I got my neighbours evicted and a criminal record, they were nightmare neighbours. The flats had 2 floors and I would regularly hear my neighbour blasting music on the 4th floor whilst I was on the 1st floor. I would walk up the stairs and politely ask her if she could turn the volume down. She would do this for 2 minutes, and knowing I was back in my flat, would turn it back up. It would be so loud I could feel the floor vibrate. This went on for some while, and it was tiresome. I’d be exhausted from working, be in terrible moods, was barely sleeping, and she didn’t care. I once was suffering from a pretty bad concussion (I come from an abusive family, got it from my brother), went up the stairs and explained the hospital said loud noise, like her music, wasn’t recommended whilst I recovered, and if she could possibly turn it down. The upstairs neighbour laughed in my face and told me to “fuk off”. There were times I’d ask politely for her to turn the music down and the neighbour would try getting aggressive with me, and once tried to kick me, I blocked and walked away, immediately phoning the Police, where naturally she denied trying to physically attack me. She was just super aggressive, and I’ve no idea why. One notable time when she was aggressive was during a bad winter in Elgin, where the flats car park was frozen and people couldn’t get their cars out, so on my days off I decided I would de-ice the car park for the neighbourhood. There were no assigned spaces, and this is important for later. I de-iced a space for my mother, she parked in it, and I started work on the other car spaces before working on the main entrance to the flats public car park, it had more spaces than actually necessary and maybe 50% of flats owned a car, so it had a lot of empty spaces, but this neighbour came thundering down from her flat and demanded to know why I’d stolen her space. I told her no spaces were assigned, it’s public parking, there’s plenty empty spaces, but she wouldn’t shut up and kept shouting, so I walked off knowing she wouldn’t listen, so she tried hitting me, I lifted my shovel to defend myself and block further attacks and didn’t hit back. She reported me for assault with a weapon and “racism”, but was countered by witnesses in the flats who were fed up of her from the blocks of flats and happily gave statements that I was just trying to de-ice the car park and she’d tried assaulting me - this actually went to court and got thrown out, the judge could see it was a stupid neighbourly dispute against an idiot and saw the list of complaints against her, with compiled evidence as I’d compiled evidence to a professional level. So anyway - I cleared some more spaces and an elderly neighbour made me tea and pulled out a camping chair so I could have a break and she wouldn’t take no for an answer, she was just really grateful because the council was running out of salt, the military could only help so much, and community services prioritised care homes and so on (it was a proper salt shortage in the area due to the really freezing temperatures) so she was grateful that “such a lovely young lady” was helping voluntarily. I didn’t want anything for it, I just wanted to help because we were a poor neighbourhood and couldn’t afford this being done professionally, so I did it myself. Her husband came out and helped for a wee bit, then got grandchildren to help and we got the car park cleared after a solid days work. So the neighbour had left earlier after screaming and was coming back, I was tidying up, making sure the ice was piled up away from the car park, finishing up, and she tried hitting me with her car whilst shouting that I’d stolen her space. As in she was trying to run me over with her car, like the actual psychopath that she was. My brother shoved me out the way and started trying to push against the car to prevent her driving forward and was telling her “you’re using your vehicle as a weapon, are you mental?!” Someone phoned the police, I was helping push against the car to stop her running my brother over with it, and she was screaming “I’ll run over you” as the police arrived. She got instantly arrested because there were several witnesses, someone took photos of this happening, and they could see she was being aggressive with her vehicle. Now, I knew a lot of the local Police as many were friends (because abusive family), so I asked various questions about noise complaints, how I could legally record what was happening, and what records I should keep. My friend Chris, the Officer on duty during the car incident, told me to stick on the kettle, make some tea, and he’d help me formulate a plan. So for the next 3 months I used a wee digital camera to record videos inside my flat where you could clearly hear the loud music, I would write a journal noting the exact time she started playing loud music, what time I asked her to turn it down, what time she turned it back on, and what time the police were called and would come visit. The neighbours took exception to the Police being called so often, but instead of actually behaving she just got disgusting. I should note that I cared for my mother and brother (long story short but my mother didn’t want to parent, and wasn’t responsible), so I did all the household work, shopping, paying of bills, worked full time and was in college part time, and when I washed our clothes I would hang it up outside on the communal washing lines. The neighbours then started spitting from her window onto the clothing because she thought it was hilarious, she threw cigarette butts from her window, and throwing half empty beer cans, so I’d regularly have to wash all the clothes again because they were covered in cigarette ash, beer and saliva. So I started getting sneaky pictures and videos where I was just outside of her line of sight when she was doing this. She also started leaving her rubbish outside my front door, parking over several spaces in the public parking, throwing cigarette butts on my front doorstep, so instead of being able to use the communal washing lines, I had to try to dry the clothing in the house out of fear it was be constantly spat on and burnt from the cigarette butts. She also started playing the music almost 24/7 at this point. It wasn’t just loud, it was vibrating the whole block of flats, all 4 floors, where she was upsetting my neighbour across from me because she couldn’t get any sleep, and neither could her infant daughter, she was in tears regularly because of this insane woman. After 3 months I’d copied the entire report I’d been making so I could digitalise it, attached the various videos and photos I had, and sent this mammoth of a report to the local city Council, and my friend Chris’s Grampian Police work email, along with going to the public library to print the paper report. Chris passed it onto his colleagues, so both Grampian Police and Moray Council were officially in the loop. Moray Council tried talking to the neighbours but she made up a bunch of lies about me and my behaviour, which I could easily refute because I was literally working, had witnesses, was on work CCTV, and had managers sign my weekly rota because I had a feeling they would try to do something like this. My manager knew what was happening, thought it was a bit weird but didn’t mind signing off the hours I had worked every week. She didn’t think I would actually need it as evidence, but knows how utterly meticulous I am, so just went along with it. [Continued in comments.]

The neighbour then tried to claim I was being racist towards her, and listed dates when I had supposedly committed these hate crimes (she’s Polish, which is a minority in Scotland, where you can, and will, be charged with racist hate crimes). I again, had proof of my whereabouts. The council and Police realised she was trying to get me into trouble and retaliating when I literally kept to myself, worked full time, went to college part time, cared for my family, and didn’t really have much time to myself. On the rare days I had time off from all my responsibilities I would be in my bedroom trying to catch up on sleep, or playing Runescape on my PC, so I really wasn’t bugging anyone and I kept to myself. I think my neighbour just really hated being stood up to, so she really, really hated me. Especially because I was 18, a teenager was standing up to her and this mega Karen just couldn’t stand that. So because she’d made a bunch of false claims against my very real claims, the Council and Police were on my side, so she started harassing the Council, a literal government body. The Council, not taking her crap, told her they were going to install decibel recording devices into my flat to properly investigate. The Police also confiscated and removed her large speakers, and told her if she bought more, they’d be removed too if there were complaints. Shocker, her new ones got removed too, this happened several times. So one weekend I was working, my shift started at 4pm, I would finish work around 1am (Burger King, I was on the closing shift), and she hosted a massive party in her flat, so I had asked my brother to record anything interesting if he could. My brother texted me saying they were actually being pretty reasonable but this changed very quickly when she spotted me walking home. I was passing the public playground near the flats where it’s a couple minute walk to the front door, so she’d been watching out her window, knowing the path I took walking home and rough time I finished work, and turned her music up full blast, so my brother phoned the Police. The Police arrived pretty quickly (Elgin is not a big town, station is like a 5-10 minute drive) when the music was properly blasting in one of their unmarked cars. The neighbours had only ever seen their marked cars, so she was totally unaware it was the Police. Until they knocked on her door. The speakers got removed, everyone kicked out the house, and was told she’d be getting into extra trouble because the Police wanted her to receive an ASBO (anti social behavioural disorder), which had only become law within the past 3-4 years in Scotland at the time, so a fairly new law, so basically any time she breached her ASBO she would be fined or could face jail time. The neighbours started screaming at the Police and even assaulted one of the Officers, and unsurprisingly got arrested for breach of the peace because of her loud music, for shouting and swearing at Police Officers, and assault of a Police Officer. Grampian Police forwarded all of this to Moray Council. Moray Council got so fed up of the constant complaints from myself and other neighbours (who had joined me in documenting EVERYTHING) so they evicted her and served her with one week to vacate the property. I had the day off from work (thanks Carol! You were such a great manager!) so sat at the front door with a chair, having a drink, grinning like a mad woman, because I was witnessing a glorious sight. Didn’t say anything, just sat and watched her leave. She shouted things occasionally which would just make me grin more, because she was providing me fantastic entertainment! One week later I’m on drive thru at work, and I see a familiar car. I tell my manager that I NEED to be the one doing this order and grin. She knows who she is and just smiles, gives me the headset, and sits back to watch. We couldn’t have anticipated the response. “Good afternoon and welcome to Burger King Drive Thru, can I take your order?” “...... SARAH?!?!?” “This is Sarah, can I take your order, please?” She ERUPTED, proper screeching and shouting at the drive thru machine, to then have to wait in line to get to the drive thru window, and then SCREAMED abuse at me. My manager knowing this would happen, hit the silent alarm under the counter (that went to the local Police station) and phoned the Police to confirm she had pressed the button and needed assistance NOW, because she had angry customers who refused to leave drive thru. The Police arrived, and the neighbours go INSANE, if you thought she was screaming before then you’re sorely mistaken, this was at an ear bleeding level of screeching. I was just standing at the drive thru window holding it closed the entire time, until my manager could lock it with the key, because at one point she was trying to forcibly open the window and was throwing things. All whilst on CCTV, because she is an actual idiot, and because she’s on CCTV, with staff witness statements, customer witness statements, and my managers witness statement, she got arrested for harassment, breach of the peace, and AGAIN for shouting, screaming and swearing at the Police, and AGAIN for assaulting a Police Officer! I can’t remember the amount but in court she was sentenced to pay a monetary fine, have all of this on her permanent, criminal record, given a large amount of community service, and I never heard from her ever again. My stupid upstairs neighbours really thought she could bully a teenager, but instead that teenager got her evicted and a criminal record. She never did tell me if she wanted fries with that…

On the socks, it's an avoidance strategy. He's probably taking his shoes and socks off on the couch and refusing to take them with when he gets up. This is probably how he evolved his behavior after being told not to leave his socks ON the couch. He doesn't want to deal with them, out of laziness, and got scolded, so he hides his socks in the couch so it's a future issue. This shows a massive inability to plan ahead in any meaningful way, since those socks are always gonna be found. Op should let the dogs eat any sock he leaves out, and tell him she won't stop them. That's if she wants to stay with him

I've been called multiple time for a certain "Polo" from multiple phone numbers. I would often get insulted and screamed at when I would tell them that I wasn't "Polo". I started recording phone numbers so I would know it's one of those people to stop answering, but there were still new numbers popping from time to time, that would ask for Polo and be angry at me for telling them I wasn't him, like swearing and threats. One day I was in a good mood and with a friend and I decided to goof around with one calling. The call would generally start with "Polo ? Is that you ?" so this time I answered with a muffled quick "yeah" so the guy on the other end started: "Ok so I think we could do like last time and we could pretend that your are my brother in law" trying to not talk too much I went "hmm ok" but I think my voice was too different from "Polo" and asked in an alarmed voice "Wait am I speaking to Polo ???" "yes" and they hung up. I never received another call for "Polo". My guess would be that some illegal stuff was going on and the phone number was passed around from world of mouth and would often lead to the wrong number being mine. Either some fraudulent stuff, organized crime or... some weird f*tish thing....

My daughter moved into an apartment which the previous tenant had rented and used as a storage space for a year. As a result, the tenant who lived below got used to absolutely no noise. When my daughter moved in, she immediately got a series of noise complaints. Walk on the floor with shoes - complaint. Move chair around - complaint. Watch TV - complaint. Talk to her boyfriend- complaint. She tried to be nice and bought rugs to cover the floors but that didn't help. After the landlord investigated and realized that the other tenants were crazy, my daughter went back to making 'noise' whenever she wanted. I think that the other tenants are no longer allowed to file complaints or pound on her door.

For the socks story: if he gets his feet dress on the sofa he might be stuffing them there to reuse the next day. By stuffing them in the sofa they don't get knocked off and they are (or were) "safer" them leaving them in his shoes or on the couch arms. It's something I do on occasion because I know I'll lose my socks if I put them somewhere else. If need be put a basket hooked on the arm of the sofa or something to keep socks in, preferably with a lid. That way his socks are by the couch but not in it and he can easily grab them for reuse later.

Listen. I have ADHD and sensory issues. So socks are like the first (technically second) thing to come off when I walk through the door after work, because socks suck and they get twisted and they aren't soft enough and my feet get too hot and they just need to get tf off me. And because ADHD, I often leave them lying around for days (something I'm working on). You know what I've never intentionally done, ever, in my life? Stuffed my sock into the couch after taking it off. Have one or two ended up in the couch? Sure, it happens. But I have never once done it on purpose, even when panic-hiding them. That boyfriend is weird as FUCK, and that's coming from someone who is, medically, weird as fuck.

Bad neighbors suck. New neighbors moved in above me two years ago. They never used any sort of ashtray and would just let their butts fall through the cracks in their patio, so that it would fall onto my deck. We're talking like 20-30 a day. I asked them to stop twice, but it continued. So, I made a complaint. It still didn't stop. So, I made another one. After that, they went on the warpath. They have thrown tomatoes and metal tools at my doors and windows, they let their dogs shit on my lawn and leave it, they throw butts and garbage in front of my door, and more. However, only the butts from the patio have actually gotten a physical complaint made. Even with witnesses and evidence, I was told the rest couldn't be proven. I really want to move, but the apt I am in is the cheapest in town that is still in a safe area. I'm really tired of being harrassed.
