That first story ... wow. The crazy thing about this is that it wasn't even planned in just fell into place. And all because the lady is involved with a Chad who didn't have a pot to pee in and she was too lazy to get the restraining order court case pushed back until after the divorce was finalized. (She couldn't testify in court for fear of perjury and she was smart enough to know this.) From the sounds of things the only thing of value in the marriage was the single vehicle. And the ex-wife was desperate to acquire it as Chad didn't have vehicle either.

Story 1: As a fellow Veteran, I can definitely reiterate to not mess with them. 1) We have (most likely) been through some crazy things in our time, and have no desire to play stupid little head games. 2)We have spent years training to stay calm in difficult situations. 3) If you are stupid enough to push us, we only get more determined to win. This specifically was handle in incorrect language. But how would you react if you were dating a girl. Found out she is in the process of divorce. Yes divorces can take a long time, drag on for years. Then the ex or soon to be shows up at your property and takes the car. Noticed in the post he didn't call and complain about the car. He was upset that he showed up states away on his property. What he should have stated is that I feel like you showing up is a threat. I feel like if you showed up again you would use lethal force and I will treat it as such. Do not tresspase on my property again. Then he would be within legal grounds. Nor would OP have any justification. It's not a threat. It's stating the implied intent you would have if you did show up again. I get why the OP was upset in the divorce, but he had a mode of transportation from his company and she didn't. If the initial filings. This could be pointed out and the vehicle could have been given to her. Or he could have said for now you can have the car originally but because of the shenanigans he went back on his word. Do you think the OP is going to put that in his post? Legally both have rights to the vehicle during the divorce proceedings. If he threw her out of the house. Then she takes off with the vehicle. You should expect that. Once divorce is initiate. All shared assets are supposed to be frozen. Whoever is in possession of what is not suppose to alter anything in such time it's over. Since he hadn't gone through mediation yet that is how he was able to get all this done. Remember he filed the divorce not her. So I'm sure their is a back story to that.

The fact that the ex was never able to dispute the car afterwards just proves that OP was well within his rights. Also, the update shows how much of a liar she was. And yes, it WAS a threat. The boyfriend clearly said "ANYWHERE" and "COUNT YOURSELF DEAD." If that doesn't constitute a death threat, I don't know what does.

I wouldn't trust that first story - too many of the details dont make sense on close examination. Especially that supposed 2nd restraining order forcing a soon to be ex out of their current home and support network into homelessness based solely on heresay from that persons soon to be ex who lives in a different state - it would be treating the ex like property not a human. So many details of the story dont hold up to scrutiny when you think about them. sadly people lie on the internet. I wouldn't trust a word of that story including them supposedly being a Veteran.

It seems wholly unbelievable to me that he could get an order of protection that would be enforced two states away on behalf of someone who no longer resided with him and that he was divorcing in a divorce he initiated. (Or that the ex couldn't contest the order easily.) I can't see why the parents would want to kick someone out who is carrying their grandchild or want her to be homeless or lose her job, since all of those things would impact on their grandkid's healthy gestation and safety at birth. Considering how hard it is for most people to get OOP with actual violence, I'd say there's a fair bit of revenge fantasy going on here rather than a legitimate experience with the law. It seems like it wouldn't take her divorce attorney more than a hearing to get her removed from his OOP.

I can top that one. My now ex wanted to be awarded with half of everything that my mother owned. yes, his lawyer said it with a straight face. my lawyer asked both him and his lawyer to tell us when he had married my mother. My ex also wanted half of the value of the house we lived in (house paid by me). In the end, he got nothing. but he did apply for disability and included the kids as living with him. Amazingly enough he got free healthcare for himself and the kids for at least a year and a half, and Lord only knows what else. I know this because I had a state investigator who came to my house and talked to me. No clue how this whole thing ended, but I do remember the gentleman who was over telling me, he made my ex drive to some federal building on what turned out was a holiday (if I recall correct it was a 1 and 1/2 hour drive each way). Him, a friend who was over and I had a good chuckle out of that one.

School Story: That School Board, Principal and Vice-Principal are very lucky OP and their Lawyer kept everything at the State Level since by violating OP's Doctor's Orders, they violated OP's ADA Rights which means OP and their Lawyer would have been perfectly within their Rights to Sue everyone in FEDERAL Court...

As a result two of the bigger gangs in the school payed him a visit, by the time I graduated he was able to walk with a cane again.

#3 Poor OP. I can't believe his school treated him that way. My brother had serious medical problems and needed to have access to all the bathrooms ( bc the students ones weren't always the closest and the locked ones were for staff) he also needed to be able to use the elevator. They had no problem handing him over the keys. He just had to turn them in at the end of the school day and pick them up in the morning. Eventually, they realize it was a decent amount of effort for him to go to the office in the morning before classes and to drop it off before the busses left so they just gave him his own copy. They went out of their way to make things easier for him. When he was really bad and was in/out of the hospital and couldn't handle going to class they sent a private teacher to the house to make sure he didn't fall behind and to make sure he got the attention he needed to catch up from the times he was in the hospital. They even metioned that if there was something he needed and also extended that to my family that wasn't covered by insurance they would be willing to help out. They said they school had some kind of special funds set aside in case of a student was really in need. We never asked for help. Years later when I had my son I was still living with my parents at the time and so he was in the same school district. They reminded me of extra help they can give but basically told me not to really spread it around bc there is always people looking for free things. I was a young single Mom who was struggling so I think that is why they told me. They gave me an example of glasses ( like if my son ended up needing glasses and I didn't have the means to get it that they would take care of it and to just let them know). They wouldn't even give my son a school supplies list after a couple of years to try to help me out. They just provided it for him. I did end up getting my own little apt and kept him in the same school. He was out of district and I informed them. They said it was fine. I was only 10 minutes away and of course wanted to keep him in the school that was so nice to us and was highly rated. Side note: it is a wealthy district and most of the parents there were well off. I was the exception. When it came time to my son's 5th grade field trip I saw how much it was when I got the booklet. I didn't want to ask but I didn't want him to miss out so I asked the lady at the office if there was a way to get the price discounted. She looked up his name and said he is listed as paid in full. I think it was his teacher who did it. I was touched. Then, when 8th grade came around I kmew there was the 8th grade trip to Washington D.C. I knew that was coming so I had tried to save up money for it but it was hard to save much. I was looking into in advance and discovered the company who did the trip had a scholarship program to help out with the cost. It basically involved an essay of why my son wanted to go to Washington D.C. He worked hard on it and turned it in. To my surprise I got something in the mail saying he was approved! I knew it didn't cover it all but with that discount and the money I had put away I might just be able to come up with the money for him to go. Then, I went to the school meeting about the trip where they covered everything they would be doing and the accommodations and everything for this all exclusive trip. (The school didn't even know I had already applied for the scholarship.) Then, at that meeting the mentioned the scholarship in case any other parents want to apply and also the total cost of the trip and the options of payment plans. Then, I heard the total. The scholarship took off $100 and that was a drop in the bucket. There was no way I could make those kind of payments over 6 months. I was nearly in tears but I couldn't ask the school for help with this. It wasn't a trip every student went on anymore like when I went there because of the price. It wasnt a 5th grade camping trip. It was more of a luxury that only about 1/2 the students went on and it was like 5 states away. After the meeting I waited till all the parents had left after turning in their checks bc I was embarrassed to give them the information booklets back bc we couldn't afford it. When I handed them the booklet back they asked what I was doing. I said we got the scholarship and I thought Id be able to cover it with the help from the program but I can't afford it and I said my son wont be able to go and apologized for wasting their time. ( I should mention this was middle school and it was the elementary school that helped with his 5th grade trip but same district). They said they knew how important that trip was to my son and not to worry that they would find a way to make it affordable for me. They tried to negotiate with the program that was doing the trip but they wouldn't allow for longer payments and the program sent me a letter saying that. The teacher in charge of the trip heard and told me "We will see about that!" I didn't get my hopes up and told my son that it didn't look like we would be able to come up with the money. Within a week the teacher caught up with me and said for him for him to start packing! I dont like to take handouts but I couldn't say no bc it was for my son. The teacher got the school district to pay for it! They paid every cent of it so I didn't have to pay a dime. They said use the money you were gonna spend on it and buy him some clothes and stuff for the trip. None of the other parents knew what they had done for us. I wanted to share because I was so grateful but I didn't want them to demand the district pay for everyone else as well. He had a great time! Idk who was more excited for him to get to experience DC me or him. Also, the district wasn't done with us. When my son was in HS money was even more tight. I couldn't afford him a coat and he just wore a thick hoodie everyday to school in the winter and he was a quadruple letterman. I wanted so badly to get him a varsity jacket but didn't say anything. He said he didnt need one and it wasnt a big deal but he earned it. When he graduated I couldn't have been a more proud parent at the honors ceremony. We they had sent out the letter about it they said they had a surprise for him but the letter didn't say what. He was presented on the stage by himself in a class with 74 Valedictorians ( That meant they all had a GPA over 4.0) with a scholarship. They didn't say what for or how much but the overhead screen said it was from the district. All the other kids who had received scholarships were announced with how much. My son hadn't made any college plans yet and wasn't a 4.0 student either. He did do a lot of charity work when he wasnt doing sports or schoolwork though. I tried to teach him that we needed to pay forward the kindness shown to us. Anyway, after the ceremony he had a big envelope and inside it was a check for $1,000 from the district. It didn't have to be used for college or any stipulations attached. I cried so hard I embarrassed him. I honestly have never known a school district that was so generous. They really do care about all their students and I am forever grateful for what they have done for my family. ❤❤❤ Sorry, but I had to share and I apologize if it sounded like I was bragging. Im just so grateful for them. Oh, FYI my brother kept the keys 😆

I was in the law library of our local courthouse researching how to file a specific petition. I wanted my soon-to-be-ex to have to help with child support for out three children! He had just ghosted us. My job alone wasn't going to hack it. I figured I could file myself. I had learned which volumes of which books I would need. I had tried to ask the clerk a question only to be reminded that no one there can give any 'legal advice'. They were polite and sympathetic. They just couldn't help me. As I searched the large books, a gentleman at one of the other tables got up to leave. As he walked behind me, he stopped, picked up one of the books I had pulled out, opened it to a certain page and pointed, all without uttering a word. It was the petition, I needed. He had overheard me when I spoke with the clerk.

Last story: If OP was considered "Disabled" then the school could be in serious trouble with violating the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). For the times of missing lunch would make them liable...the FINES only...for $75,000...for EACH incident...adding up to $1,125,000...just for the 3-week lunch problem. Of course that is not even considering the civil liabilities...especially considering it would be a whole different civil suit held in FEDERAL court.

My high school was in a really old building, like really old. So was listed and you couldn’t make changes to it. There was also no lifts in that building or the newer building. I am a part time wheelchair user and so I was stuck on the ground floor all the time, couldn’t go to science lessons or English lessons. Most teachers were nice and moved the lessons to the ground floor for me so I could still join in. However, my English teacher said I’d just have to walk up the stairs. I ended up having to get someone to carry my chair or crutches whilst I dragged myself up the stairs using my arms a few times. Not fun.

I also had issues with my local council refusing to provide me with transport to college. They said that because I lived within 3 miles, I wasn’t entitled. However, if you suffer with mobility, learning, neurological or other conditions, you are fully entitled to transport to and from college. My mum is my rock and my fighter and I’d be lost without her. She’s been chasing their decision for months and she finally got one. I was declined due to the 3 mile rule. Mum found this out through a 3rd party, not through themselves. She emailed them stating that they’re blocking me from accessing education and she wouldn’t hesitate to go to the local mp, ofted and the head of office. We soon got a taxi given to us however it is a shared one and I have to stay at college from college start time to college finish time. I can’t do that, I need an individual taxi and an assistant due to seizures which aren’t pleasant for me or others. I also have fnd (functional neurological disorder) plus other conditions which mean I’m exhausted from just a few hours of being out of bed. I need to go to college when I start and when my day finishes, not when the college day finishes. Tiredness increases my chance of seizures and so I can’t wait an extra 2 hours to go home when it could cause a risk to my health. Mum is still fighting this but it is sad what disabled people have to fight through to live a normal life.

My stepmom did that to my dad during their divorce, the restraining order. She also set it up at one point for him to "break" it when he went to the mediater's house to see his kids. She was there too and called the cops and it actually ended up making the restraining order go away cuz of it.

That last story reminds me of my mom. When she was six months pregnant with me a cop tuned left in front of her of her and they collided. This POS pulled my very pregnant mom out of the car, hand cuffed her and gave her ticket in front of my aunt and grandmother. Auntie and Grandma went to court with Mom but the cop didn't appear. The trio gave their version of events filled with colorful language to the judge. Judge not only dropped the charges, he apologized to Mom in the officer's behalf and sent a copy of the court transcripts to his captain along with a complaint for misconduct. Moms was one bad mamma jamma.

I am so glad to hear that the rules have changed. One of our friends (super sweet man) wife left him for another man. She didn’t even want visitation of their daughter. Our friend had full custody. She was living with her boyfriend and collecting alimony for years. At the time she had to get married in order to stop alimony. Finally after their daughter was going to go to college and this had been going on for four years, he went back to court showing that while not married she had been cohabiting for the last 5 years (during divorce also). Thankfully the judge lifted the alimony which he requested so he could pay for college for their kid.

My x wife tried the same game. Then told the judge she was living with her ap. I pulled his criminal record. At that point I got a permanent restraining order against her ap being anywhere near my son. She lied about her employment and all I wanted was custody of my son. But didn't think it was right for me to make house payments on a house for her and her boyfriend. She ended up losing the house 4 months later.

I work as a HVAC wholesaler and had to learn how the systems work. Hearing the second story made me say, “Oh, no.” Putting the wrong refrigerant in is bad enough, but if they didn’t purge the old one out first they will get in a LOT of trouble! One of the first things I learned here was you do NOT mix refrigerants!

It is outdated stereotype, if you break down by time period, the closer to day you get the more often the cases get to 50:50 for dual income compiles, and single income could tract more to income than gender. However older cases are still active it causing the over all statistics to lag behind the current actual outcomes.

About story #2: I am a EPA liscenced HVAC/R technician for a small company in Sacramento. I love my career and don't consider it "work", since I'm getting paid for doing something I enjoy. I hate hearing about customers/tennants being mistreated like this. For God's sake people, take pride in what you do, conducting business like those idiots is just wrong, and can get your company slapped with sanctions/fines, or even shut down.

I'm not so sure about that alimony part... having gone through a very similar situation I learned most states have separation clauses. Meaning that the day they decided to separate as a couple, either verbally or in writing, was the date she was allowed to go be with whoever she wanted. This could very well be a newer law, or simply in a single state, but my judge, and lawyers, both said it was a situation that was more or less the same everywhere.

Tbh the first story really freaks me out. Sure, get your car back by being clever, that seems like pro revenge. But claiming someone who is actively not with you as your “personal property” because you’re not legally divorced yet (I know it’s a legal term or whatever but still), is so so fucked up. And then being happy her life is completely screwed because of it is a level of maliciousness I never want to encounter in life. That’s way beyond what he needed to do and it makes me really wonder why they separated in the first place. Also claiming the phone call was a verbal threat on his life, while *technically* accurate is so extreme. People say things they don’t mean in anger all the time, and it sounds like this was the first time he ever heard something like this from the boyfriend after OP (in the boyfriend’s eyes) had stolen his girlfriend’s car. I get why he did it, and the police report might have been a good idea if things escalated, but what he used it for was as bad, if not much worse, than what his ex wife did. I’m sure I’ll get hate for this comment but I just don’t really want to live in a world where people act like this, even when they’ve been wronged.

Ehhh....I don't know their whole story. We only have one perspective. Knowing that, I still imagine the wife to be the one who instigated it first by putting a restraining order against OP and prevented him from retrieving his car was in the wrong and OP was just retaliating. She had the means to show up to the court hearing to prove her RO Case but didn't. If Wife's new BF didn't make the threat, there'd be no need to escelate. Whether BF said it out of anger but didn't mean it or was actually intending harm against OP or not is not for anyone to decide. It was a threat to OP's life. If a RO against BF wasn't approved AND something happened to OP, there'd be trouble those RO Deniers would have to answer to. You might not be able to control your emotions/feelings but you can control and are responsible for your actions. Choose your words carefully and you won't have to eat crow.
