To the OP who screwed over Ingrid's plans to become a shitty therapist: On behalf of everyone with a psychological condition requiring therapy, I thank you. People like that rarely make it through, because the internships and externships are worse than the course work, but just keeping her away entirely is just that much easier on those of us who have already had to deal with shitty therapists. Like I said, they're usually few and far between, but when they do show up, they're horrible, and often make everything worse. I can't tell you the number of people I know that have moderate to severe psychological disorders that are being treated by a general practitioner rather than a psychological professional because of one bad therapist. Good riddance to her.

While I agree with your sentiment, and sympathize with your plight of being lumped in with them, the definition of Christian is a person who believes in the bible and teachings of Jesus. They do, in fact, fit the definition of a Christian. Just like, as an atheist, I'm often lumped in with toxic pseudo-intellectuals who think they're way smarter than any theist. (and to be fair, I was like them for a while. It's an embarrassing time for me). Jesus had a number of odd quotes by modern standards, that would seem out of character for him. He endorsed the old testament laws several times, destroyed a temple because people were doing business in it, and sometimes even demanded love for himself that would supercede familial ties. That being said, while I'm an Atheist by belief, I am a member of a very liberal church community in Canada. I run the tech booth, sometimes sing in services when asked, and have many friends within the church. I would no sooner condemn them for their beliefs than they would myself, and the outreach we do in our community is a large part of what the church stands for. However, I have no patience for extremism in any form. The Catholics, Orthodox Jews, ISIS, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc. Are organizations that in my mind, don't provide any real benefit to society, compared to the harm they cause from their doctrines. I hope you and yours stay safe out there, and I hope that more Christians come around to your way of thinking.

Yeah, I think that might be possible. (We're not Christian) When I was young, mother always told me that our religion is correct and I grew up believing that. But when I was (maybe) on 3rd grade, I decided not to come with them. Not going into details but my mother was furious and did something really terrible to me. My 11th grade Religion Teacher told me that, "going to church will only remind you to be kind and about the bible. You don't need to go to church or follow every word in bible or the church do or said. Just believe that Jesus Christ is your savior and and be kind and good. That's all."

They are not outright taught this, but the attitude of most churchs are that as long as you made the "Confession of Faith" which is really just repeating after the pastor, then your soul is sealed to God forever no matter what you say and do. You are guaranteed to get into heaven. So, you can be a complete scumbag and break every commandment, but just so long as you made that confession at 5 you're good. Repentance not required, because it's just not talked about. It hurts people's feelings, and that hits the church's money you see. There's a bit more that goes into that, but that's the jist of it. Most likely what she had being fed to her.

It is legal for children to smoke and for cigarette companies, including Marlboro, to run ads and even sponsor concerts and sporting events. It's truly tragic. Well, to be fair, "ACTUAL" Christians do nothing to stand up to and tear down these cretins, and as they claim the Christian faith, it is the job of Christians to police them. If you don't want to be counted with people like this, then make sure you're seen audibly taking them to task every time you encounter one. Otherwise, outsiders will presume that you're at least tacitly supporting her viewpoint, because you're not saying or doing anything to oppose it. I'm not christian- if anything the closest to the faith I follow is Asatru. My grandmother however was a Lay Nun with the Carmelite order, she was far from perfect and willing to admit it. Never once did she say anything about my mother being bi-sexual, my sister being pagan, or my at the time agnostic views. She never condemned anyone's beliefs or lifestyles, or those of others. Her acceptance of other people's faiths and lifestyles extended to spending several hours talking with our roommate Dennis about his beliefs and trying to understand the extensive tattoos (Dennis Avner is probably best known as Stalking Cat, just google him and you'll understand why most christians would try and avoid or "save" him). The only form of protest that she ever expressed about my families religious and life style choice was sending us each a rosary twice a year for our birthdays and christmas. To me her behavior is how a real Christian should behave.

Lots of Christians, especially born-again evangelicals are like Ingrid. Are they hypocrites? Sure. Are they still Christians? Absolutely. You can’t just claim that Christians that you don’t like aren’t “real” Christians. The only requirement for being Christian is accepting Jesus as the Savior. If she accepts Jesus as the savior, then she’s a Christian. I have a Karen I work with. Surprisingly enough she is actually one of my favorite people. She acknowledges that she has issues and is actually going to a therapist and she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She has openly admitted that she is a Karen and she is genuinely trying to work on it and because of all she does to make sure she doesn't go off the rail (as I have seen her do) she is my favorite person to work with. ^^ She is living proof that all a Karen needs is a good therapist and the proper diagnosis. (And maybe a healthy dose of self awareness lol)

"Sunday Christians", I call them. They walk around with their nose in the air, acting "holier than thou" (as Timothy Wade mentioned), and throw their religion in the face of anyone who dares disagree with them. Great people on Sunday, full-on Karens and Chads the rest of the week, hence the name. REAL Christians follow the 1st and 2nd Commandments (Love God, love your neighbors - no exceptions), and understand that anything which doesn't fit under these two mandates is not of God. Sunday Christians are a thorn in the side of real Christians. Edit: Matthew 6:1-6 sums up nicely why real Christians are so much harder to find than Sunday Christians, and why Sunday Christians are (unfortunately) the face of the religion. Next time you catch someone trying to quietly/humbly do something good for someone, say "God bless you", and see what happens.

I’m a baptist Christian. To be a Christian in my belief is to be saved, to accept Jesus as your savior and accept his sacrifice. Just going to church doesn’t make you Christian. I admit myself that I’m not the best follower, I don’t go to church a lot of the times. But I stand with my beliefs. If that was me, I would have been ballistic. My family's business was situated near the streets, so as a young kid I was always near smoking people. As an adult cigarette smoke/smell hinders my breathing. So if I have someone near me, who smells a bit if cigarette, I need to leave. If that was me it's either me or her has to leave that place.

Just as a point of order, in almost every state, if a place is listed as "non Smoking" , EVERY part of it has to be. Not just sections. No, it doesn't matter if they're closed off. If it's the same building, it's either all smoking, or all non-smoking, and most states these days have laws that say you can't smoke in apartments for rent
