14:05 the Sister's Will story. The parents have a little leg to stand on based on the information we don't have. If the parents were not put in the will at all (ie specifically saying they have nothing or at least providing a dollar) then they can sue under the grounds of being forgotten. It's not common for a case like that to win but it does happen and if it does then they can be forced to liquidize all the assets essentially losing the house.
@MalekitGJ2 жыл бұрын
Don't worry, that only applies to same generation level to lower, or basically your siblings, spouse, children, in lower to top priority in that order. The parents don't have any scaffold to stand in this matter.
@davidharshman76452 жыл бұрын
The one argument that might stand is if the parents argue that they paid for the funeral relying on the understanding that the deceased's estate would reimburse them as part of the will. To that end, they might be able to sue for reimbursement of the funeral costs from the estate. Now, as long as the estate has enough funds to cover the funeral, that wouldn't put the house at risk. However, if it didn't, a lawyer could insist the assets (including the house) would need to be liquidated to cover those costs.
@Scarlett.Granger2 жыл бұрын
They don't got much i think. Of course everything comes down to where OP lives, but usually these "mandatory inheritance parts" only work down the generational line, eg. you have to give a mandatory minimum to all your biological children, and your married spouse. Also they're probably out of luck with the funeral costs, cause this will probably fall under family duty laws, such as parents are to provide all necessities to their children, or children are to pay for care for their parents when they are really old, etc. So them paying funeral costs for their own child won't be easy to fight, especially if OP is under 21.

OP was so so so so smart to video everything, taking her home. If I, as a woman, saw that same scenario he mgr did,I'd rather would have called the cops to do a wellness check on her. At the very least, asked her about it, or maybe check at her house. Not run to HR. That part is weird. A guy taking a drunk coworker home in his car, her willing even, is still a scary thought. I know I know , it's a bad stereotype, but also, all to often true. Even ones where the girl denies it, it's still happening a lot of those times too. What should happen instead? Well, this hero did one of the ways, helped while fully protecting himself. But she shoulda planned ahead. Called a friend or family member. Gotten a female coworker to drive her home. The job maybe shoulda made arrangements , f big enough. A sober cab, maybe.

Super valid point about contacting HR afterward instead of police at the time... That said...if I saw that after a work party, I don't think I know enough about any of my coworkers to do so effectively. So, had it been a real issue, maybe contacting management/HR would be the only viable option? Especially since the worker involved didn't know what happened either.
@Busefalis2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but no one should have to go through all of these protective measures. Taking a drunk coworker home, regardless of sex/gender should not raise any flags. Attitudes like this are what keep people from wanting to help others. Taking a drunk woman home from a company party shouldn't have to make you go into a defense posture where you record everything. Especially in a situation where she claimed she didn't recall anything happening and was sure nothing had. Why not believe the 'victim'? (In quotes as she was not a victim)

Parents trying to scam you: You're in luck. Truth is a defence against all kinds of shit. So, if they even start court proceedings, bring that to the attention of all of HIS business contacts and all of HER friends. Ruin them. They are worth less than a bug you squash.

the second story really piss me off cause this happened more by the fact the manager saw Op put the drunk women in his car and decide to tell his buddy and the buddy decide to tell the manager to ruin Op life cause his buddy it bitten and mad about the women who thank god told HR and other people that Op didn't do nothing to her and I got a strong feeling she probably knew it was her ex since the manager was his buddy and glad the owner got the truth out and hopeful the owner fired the manager and that OP sue the manager and his buddy and not the company

Former will writer here. It's worth noting that in the case of the inheritance story, in some countries/places the parents actually genuine would have a legal case to sue for a portion of the estate. It's unlikely that they would win, but not impossible. The law surrounding estates and probate can get a little messy, this is why it's important to have a solicitor/lawyer draft your will rather than writing one yourself. You never know what legal loophole someone might use to try to steal a portion of your estate.

Someone not involved sees a coworker help another coworker into their car because they're plastered, and everyone automatically assumes assault and misconduct? Wtf The drunk woman in question isn't pressing the issue either wtf

The hummus story has a really good update!!
@cherenkov_blue2 жыл бұрын
I find it ironically wholesome that the parent in the hummus story was only worried about proper protection, and didn't care if they were having some passionate hugs 😅 Honestly, as a seasoned gay, I've come up with way more elaborate cover stories than that, so it's entirely plausible that "it was just really good hummus" worked. Also, as was already said by another YT commenter, the "friend" found the post and confirmed that they were in fact passionately hugging.

OMG the last story!!! My grandparents came to visit me when I was 5 (way back in the 70s). BTW - my GRANDMA proudly - PROUDLY!! - told me this story when I was older and married. It was their first time in a hotel (they were in their 40's at the time) and I guess they were like giddy newlyweds. And took some naughty photos of each other. And the photos were in the glovebox of their car. Well, later during the visit, my mom was in the car with my grandpa getting gas and my grandpa always kept track of mileage and gas - so my mom went to the glove box to get his notebook. She saw the photo envelope and went "oh, pictures!" and well.... lets just say she was slightly traumatized. My grandma was the one who gave me the "the talk" when I was younger - and as she always said - "sex is a beautiful thing...especially when it is done right" - with a wink at my grandpa.

One of the best stories from him hahaha 🤣 Comment if you want me to share any more

Men, let that HR story be a lesson to you. Never, EVER be alone with a drunk woman without some kind of protection. Record the moment you begin interacting with them. All it takes is a single accusation to ruin your life.
@tra120482 жыл бұрын
The problem ends up being what the recording laws are in your area. It's a good thing that the OP lives in a one party consent state(allowing him to record his interaction). Imagine if he lived somewhere like California, where you need consent from all parties involved. His recordings would likely be considered illegal, as your consent isn't valid if you're drunk. (Though, I don't exactly have a perfect understanding of these laws, so this is just my own assumptions on how it works. I could very well be wrong)

So my coworker is a Vegan and he is very nice about sharing his food with someone if it means he can interest them in his diet choice. I asked him about hummus since I'd never tried it and he brought it often. He gave me one carrot with a slightly spicy hummus on it and I've been hooked since. It's good stuff!

2nd story: I'm glad OP, the girl and the lawyer manage to save the situation. The manager could had easily ruin OP's life. I wish the Manager and his daddy golf buddy end up in jail tho R/Slash. My dude you would be surprised how many guys have their lives ruin based on a single lie. 4th story: I hope OP gets an attorney. And never, EVER, talk with his parents again. They don't care about OP nor their recent dead daughter.

I would be so assured of the parents not getting anything from the estate, it's not unheard of for people initially excluded from a will to be awarded a portion of the estate via lawsuit. If you want to rest more assuredly, leave anyone you might expect to be a problem an inconsequential sum of money, like a penny or whatever, that way they can't argue that you didn't mean to exclude them.
