Who wants to bet that the reason Skyler was dared to date OP (if he was even dared at all) was cuz he himself instigated it? Like he randomly hung out with his friends and was like “bet you guys won’t dare me to date gay guy”

*First OP:* That video must’ve been fire! I’m sorry. *Second OP:* Poor guy. People can be such buttholes. I hope OP finds a good support system to help him recover from the betrayal, and I hope that jerk farts in front of his crush. *Third OP:* It sucks that OP had to find out about his wife the way he did, but the important thing is that he knows her true colors. Time for a divorce. *Fourth OP:* I thought OP was going to find out that his friend either 1. Died, 2. Got arrested/involved in criminal activity, or 3. Joined an mlm/cult. @thegrimharvest
@thegrimharvest Жыл бұрын
For a bet... I might maybe could see someone doing it, depending on how big the bet was, and assuming it was something extremely short term, like one date or something. Maybe I could see that happening, though it's still a big stretch... But all of that was done just on a dare? The dudebro committed to multiple dates, intimate quality time with op, everything short of sex itself, and it was all just for the sake of accepting a dare one of his buddies challenged him to take? Im seriously pressing X to doubt. Agree with r/Slash and the general consensus, this guy was definitely at least curious or in the closet, and used the "dare" (if there even actually was one, and the story wasn't a fabrication after the fact for him to save face in front of his friends) as an excuse to test the waters. This feels like an actual example of "Ha!Ha! Wouldn't it be funny if we kissed? Unless...?" but thinly disguised as "lulz! It's just a prank bro!" Op should get the pendant back. And Dudebro should have no qualms about returning it, afterall, since the whole thing was done "just for a dare". By that implication, the gift should mean nothing to him. Of course, I expect the dudebro won't want to part with it. For obvious reasons. He can justify it to his friends as just an extra joke at OP's expense, and they'll laugh. But I don't buy into the story of it all being for a dare. Either dudebro was an amazing actor, OP was completely blind, or the actual truth is he wanted it, but wasn't ready to come out to his friends, so he had to hide behind the dare excuse.

2nd Vid: Heard this story before, and it was absolutely heartbreaking. OP actually spoke with Skylar's mother, who I think ALSO experienced what he went through. (Skylar's mom was bi and her husband wouldn't accept her). Skylar did what he did as a way of lashing out at his mother over the divorce. Unfortunately OP can't get the necklace back since he gifted it and it wouldn't hold up in court. Luckily THOUSANDS of people on social media have OP's back and fellow LGBTQIA+ and straight people shared their stories of being led on as pranks. (So at least OP isn't alone) Skylar's throwing a hissy fit and justifies everything he's done. OP's personal life is out in the open at school and he's getting ostracized by Skylar's friends more than ever. Though there is absolutely no excuse for what Skylar has done, the most I can see done is either school expulsion for bullying or a slap on the wrist. If any of these things happen, OP's safety could be in jeopardy. He'll probably have to move with a trusted relative and start over. The system failed this kid. *Edited for clarity, at least from what I remember

"Unfortunately OP can't get the necklace back since he gifted it and it wouldn't hold up in court." Now, I'm not a lawyer, but this sounds like theft by false pretenses. Ever heard of the Tinder Swindler? He defrauded lots of women via theft by false pretenses. This is the same thing essentially. Skylar love-bombed OP, got OP to hand over material wealth, then skipped off on him. Laws vary, but in California, where I'm, from, this would likely fall under Penal Code 532 PC, which is defined as defrauding someone of money or property by way of false promises or representations. The false pretense theft could be prosecuted as a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the value of the property taken, and could mean up to 3 years in jail or prison. The most common defense is that the defendant did not intend to deceive the supposed theft victim - and Skylar clearly did.

Reminds me of something that happened to me about 20 years ago. Out of nowhere my friend T just cut all contact for seemingly no reason. We weren't super close so I wasn't broken up about it, just more confused than anything. It wasn't until a decade later I found out why. Some lying cunt, for literally no reason, said I collected child porn. Made up this whole story that I had a PC just rammed with pictures of naked children. I didn't even know this guy. I mean I knew OF him, we knew each other's names, and had some mutual friends, but we never hung out or talked or anything. But he'd convinced T that I was a pedo. Anyway years later another friend of mine J found out about the story from T and burst out laughing when he heard it. He knew it was BS. They went and called this liar and tried to get him to repeat the story, and of course the whole story fell apart. He didn't know me, had never been to my apartment, nor seen my computer. Didn't even remember what I looked like. So all the details of how he "knew" just evaporated like a fart in the wind. Plus by then he'd already earned a reputation for exaggerating and outright lying in order to sound cool, so nobody believed the story anymore. T and I never became friends again, but in a bizarre twist of fate T actually WAS arrested for sexual assault of a minor. So no loss there.

Story #4: Look... from my experience stalkers usually send hundreds of messages PER DAY. Maybe there are different flavors of stalker, but I find the story hard to believe, or maybe there is something that OP wasn't sharing. The only sense I can make of it is this. I work in the IT industry and often times, older folks cannot accept how accessible they've become, and how EASY it is to find someone, so in this case, casual how-do-ya-do's from OP to that person maybe made the person feel like OP was going out of their way to find them when it very easily could not have been the case. It's still weird that the person didn't say, "Hey stop talking to me." but paranoia is a weird bird. You know what they say... just because you're paranoid, don't mean they aren't watching. 👁👄👁 On another note, what I find MOST strange about the story was that the cops even remotely entertained the person's concerns. They were a lawyer so who knows what he told them when he had such flimsy evidence, I guess the cops really must not have had anything better to do in what ever town they're in. Seems very "small town problems" to me, especially since OP's daughter found a book that the person published. The odds of something like that happening in my town is slim to none if I'm not running in the same circles in the exact same area as someone, I live in a very highly populated area. Any way, that was my 2 cents on that. Very weird story.

Nah, it just means no filter and keeping it real. People thinking that it makes you an asshole to tell the truth is what makes them the asshole. Don't do stupid things if you don't want people calling you out for it. Pretty simple. Idiots not wanting to be called idiots for being idiots are much bigger assholes. Especially since it hurts them more than you to not want to accept their actions were stupid because until they do that, they can't fix it. @threecheeseburrito
@threecheeseburrito Жыл бұрын
"No filter" doesn't always mean asshole. It depends on the information you divulge. If you're being honest with how you feel and not targeting anybody, then no, you're not an asshole. But if you're actively telling people private information that can and will hurt others just to get a point across, or telling someone about how horrible you think someone else's family is, then yeah, that'd make ya an asshole. Also, I don't hear "keeping it real" used in my personal life, so I'm not sure about that one. But "no filter" is normal for people with autism such as myself, and as long as we're not being malicious about it (because sometimes we honestly just can't help our filter, but we can help the intent of the words), it's usually pretty funny or doesn't hurt anybody. There's always cases of people using "no filter" as a way to pass themselves off as just being blunt. But unless the intent is to be mean and "get away with it," and not be labeled as an asshole, then it's not always indicative of a bad person.

4th story (old friend). Sounds like OP may have tried to contact their friend A lot more then a few times in 20 years. Enough that they went to their local police in Alaska to complain about harassment. Then since Alaska couldn't get up with OP they contacted OP's local police to pass along the message. Stalkers think in their own mind they have not done anything wrong or that they tried to talk contact their obsession as many times as they did. I am former Law Enforcement and I served a restraining order to a man who called his ex 180 times in a month. Left tons of messages and they were all just like nothing was wrong. "Oh hey I saw so and so is playing live at this club. I remember how much you like them and wanted to let you know." Etc. As soon as he saw the call log he was devastated and said 'Oh my god she must think I'm a monster.' He said he was going to go for therapy as he didn't realize he called that often. The reason why it took a month for the order was was she lived 5 states away and was gone on business trip for over a week and came home to a full answering machine. (this was before internet/cell phones etc. so that dates me.)

The story talking about reaching out to someone online reminded me of my own. Fair warning, it is a sad ending, and a long story. So, I had a childhood friend since almost 5 or 6 I would say. I will call her Clementine. We were friends most of our lives until I believe I want to say high school, where we went to different schools and she got new friends where she didn't want to hang out with me as much. We got into a horrible fight , pretty small when looking back on it now, but she basically on that day said she didn't want to be friends anymore so it ended. Well, when I was 20, I figured enough time had passed and we can try to be friends possibly again. I went through my own trauma because of the whole incident, but I wanted to be the bigger person and try to if we can't be friends, at least get on mutual understanding and at least say sorry to one another on the matter to let it be bygones. Readded her on Facebook, which was instantly accepted, and sent a message. After a few days with no reply, I checked it and saw she is never on Facebook. Fair. A couple years go by, and I wonder about Clementine, so I check her Facebook. No updates at all. I found it odd, but also figured since childhood, she always went to another country during summers to study abroad during grade school, she might of done the same for college and not want to do social media since it will take away from studies. She was never big on social media either way. I messaged once more just for the hell of it since I did not have her phone number or any other social media. But no reply. Fast forward to 7 years after my first message. Its 2020, covid hit and I was browsing Facebook. That was when it hit me about her once more. I checked, and again, no updates. Not even a photo update on the profile. I was confused nothing had happened, but it clicked maybe this isn't her account anymore but an old one. I looked her up, and found a memorial. When she was 18, before graduating high school, she ran away with her boyfriend at the time to another state, where her poor family couldn't find her. When she was 20, same age as me, she was slowly coming to realize she didn't want to do this and was secretly making plans to move back to her family and finish school. And I say secretly because her boyfriend would monitor her every action and messages on her phone. He even got a job at the same place as her to watch her. Well, sadly, he found out the plans before she could do them. He strangled her to death just a few months before I reached first out to her. He even sent messages to the family saying it is their fault. He is currently in prison for life sentence, but it just doesn't ever seem right. So, despite the story of the guy getting called a stalker, reach out to those old friends you never hear from anymore. You never know when they can use you.

About the lie thing. I had a similar experience once. I've recalled this so many times it feels surreal. When I was in elementary school I had a crush on this guy. And so did my best friend. We both thought he was beautiful. And I wasn't shy about it as I've never been. I used to talk very loudly to my best friend in kindergarden about this other guy who we both thought was the prettiest boy in class. And he was our friend. Mainly mine and my brother's since he loved to show him all the lego creations he would do. But that's besides the point. One day I approached the school kid (around 7/8 years old) and I told him I liked him. I was waiting for a response but he said he needed to think about it. He missed school the next day and I thought he did it on purpose I was that anxious. Mind you at that time I had undiagnosed Aspergers. So it makes sense I was anxious after what I did. He said yes and I was ecstatic. But not long before be started to make fun of me a week later. He would say mean things to me while we played. Like: "You're ugly." etc. That paired with my lack of self love/confidence made me feel horrible. I thought I was even uglier. Which now looking back I'm exactly the same. I look the same except I dress better and can make myself prettier and have gained confidence after years of bullying. Anyways. A few years later in middle school my best friend, the same I had in elementary school, told me this golden nugget. That every girl in class was in on it. And they knew he wanted to hurt me. I don't believe it or I refuse to. I can't imagine the person I considered my best friend doing this to me. Not telling me this guy was about to hurt me. Or at least if we weren't friends at that moment in time, to tell me as soon as we became friends again. I still feel heartbroken everytime I see this guy around. I always think about if he recognizes me and if he thinks I'm prettier now. Or if he's still the jerk he used to be.

yeah I definitely think there’s way more to the “old friend” story. from the comments on it, it sounds like it was actually a female friend and OP was really avoidant of admitting that. I’d like to hear her side of the story.

The stalking one is weird. If its true, the other person has some serious drama need and/or paranoia. It might not be entirely true, based on the cops spending their time on this, but there may be some misunderstanding between the complaint lodged (those in the know just trying to make a call) vs the local cops who don’t get any content before being asked to issue a ‘cease and desist contact’.

There are a few things I find odd about OP's version. I think they keep getting blocked by the person, you notice each time they mentioned a completely different way of reaching out to them. And since I doubt a lawyer who also writes a book someone interested in being a vet would find pertinent would have the exact same email they did from 2 DECADES prior, meaning OP hunted that information down.

2nd story: poor OP. That was just cruel. I don't understand how people can do stuff like that. Like, even if you don't agree with something or think it's weird or wrong or whatever, if they aren't hurting anyone leave them be. Be nice. I hope OP is able to heal.

I can only hope that Skylar receives back three-fold that which he did to OP. There's a lot more I could say about this but some things are best left unspoken. At the least, I'm heartbroken for OP and absolutely infuriated at Skylar.

Story 2: Maaan…Op i’m sooo sorry :/ that’s heartbreaking, i don’t get how him pretending to be into you makes YOU the laughingstock, but tbh everyone in your town sounds like a total douchebag. I’m really sorry man :/

Story 2 : time to move towns bro.. those things will never let you live it down.. Story 3 : Time to start planning your exit bro..if your wife doesn't care enough to keep private info private what's the saying she wasn't sharing with others what you to do in the bedroom!! Story 4 : That old "friend " is a snitch.. he's most likely in witness protection..

@@cynister7384 agreed. Plus you notice that each time OP reached out it was via an entirely different method, I am willing to bet OP got blocked from all the others before hunting out the person's email to continue harassing them.

How do you pretend to be gay? They kissed. They cuddled. They went on dates. I don't know any guy who pretend to be gay and actually kiss, hug, cuddle, or go on dates. Skylar is either bi or gay.

OP, tell Skylar’s mother, she’s bi, she’d be furious hearing her sons homophobic behaviour. He and his friends should face consequences, you’re the victim and shouldn’t have to move schools or feel shame.

I actually think OP in story 4 is the weird one. It was pretty clear the dude didn't want to talk but OP can't seem to take no for an answer? Maybe they just don't like confrontation, but then again they're a lawyer so that's probably not it. I feel like OP slighted this person in some way and is too obtuse to have realized it

Closest I ever came to setting the place on fire was when I had a nasty cold and really wanted to add some humidity to the air. A hot shower helped, but the air was so dry the moment I stepped out I was hacking a lung again. So I filled up a 2.5 gallon stock pot full of water on the stove, on high. At some point I nodded off while watching TV, and woke up a couple hours later to the smoke alarm going off. The pot had boiled dry, and apparently that was somehow enough to trigger the smoke alarm even though I didn't see any smoke. In my infinite wisdom I decided to pour a cup of water into the pot to quickly cool it down. Which resulted in a gout of boiling hot steam blasting my hand resulting in HUGE blisters over the half that was that got hit. It hurt like hell, and I ended up having to sleep on the floor that night with my hand soaking in a roasting pan full of cold water. Every hour or so I'd have to get up and change the water, because once it started to warm up, it felt like my hand was still burning. Fucking sucked. Not only did I have a nasty cold, but I had second degree burns to boot. But at least the air was humid.

1. Why wouldn't you actually tell someone to stop contacting you? Especially a lawyer. 2. Why in the world did OP keep reaching out? Like... 6 years of silence, and you try again? Another 5 years of silence, and you try again? Take the effing hint.

Skylar is only saying all this so his friends don’t make fun of him for being gay, he’d rather tarnish his relationship with Op then to lose his homophobic friends in a dare.

Maybe the dude from the 4th story has an actual stalker, and when it got to the boiling point and the police got involved, then during the investigation he or the cops saw OP calls and messages and went IT MUST BE HIM! and that's why the police tried to contact OP and finally went to his house, they must have taken him not answering the calls as an admission of guilt, like : ''He's not answering, he knows why are onto him now''

Good thinking....I hadn't thought of that possibility. I only figured OP was actually one of those bullies who didn't realize they were a bully and picked on their 'friends'. Especially when they had mutual friends on insta but the guy kept ignoring the requests, like if the person is active online there's backstory OP forgot.
