Controversial take: Mermaids are a form of mimicry so it's just a fish that found out the best way to catch prey was to look like a human.

Well, mermaids were originally very dangerous creatures that would tear people apart if not drag them underwater to kill, only sparring those they actually liked. That is why Peter Pan spent time with them, alone, and you don't see that too much because the mermaids will kill all the other children and they even tried to take out Wendy when they learned of her.

Fun animal fact: Recently, some octopus and fish have been working together to hunt. There’s just one thing… The octopus will literally punch the fish on occasion. The octopus might be punching out of spite to punish a hunting partner that cheated in the past. Alternatively, it is also thought that doing this will either help keep the fish “more honest” or deter them from taking more than its fair share.

Yes. The only failure in this situation would if there is no good communication between the couple. With good communication and and understanding of each others needs there is no one, one size fits all way to have a relationship. Also I would also say that that a relationship that has ended isn’t nessacerily a relationship that has failed either. You could have had a wonderful time, but had to move on for both your best interests in the end. That doesn’t mean that relationship wasn’t valuable or didn’t teach you a lot, or even helped and supported you when you needed it most.

In theory a mermaid would most likely taste somewhere between pork and dolphin, as humans apparently taste a lot like pork, but the marine mammal lifestyle might result in a more dolphin-like flavor. On the other hand, they might wind up just tasting like fishy pork, as some researchers once fed pigs a bunch of fish oil so their meat would be higher in omega 3 fatty acids, but it wound up making them smell and taste fishy, so I could see a mermaid that eats a lot of fish winding up with a similar flavor...

Parasitism is when an organism feeds off of a host from a different species at the host's expense. Species are differentiated through whether or not the species shares similar characteristics and breeding compatibility. Babies look extremely different from their mothers and can't reporduce, therefore, they're a different species. Since they're a different species, they're parasites. Was cool to see something Welsh in here! The Mari Lwyd is pronounced "Marry Lloyd" btw, like the English pronunciation of the name Lloyd (which is also of Welsh origin, might I add, but the Welsh pronunciation of the name Lloyd is slightly different with the double L). The tradition of Mari Lwyd is believed to come from Welsh Pagan traditions pre-Anglo-Saxon invasion, I think. I'm Welsh but didn't grow up with this tradition, despite being from the valleys where it is supposed to be most prevalent. I had no idea about it myself until a few years ago. It seems like it takes place mostly in adjacent towns to the one I am from and still live in tbh. I am really interested in Welsh culture and language and bringing back some of our older/less popular traditions, and I am learning Welsh so I think I would like to try the Mari Lwyd at least once tbh. I have crippling social anxiety though so I don't know how I would go about it but yeah. Last Halloween, I celebrated Nos Galan Gaeaf (pronounced like Norse Gallon Gay Ave, means Winter's Eve, basically the Welsh Paganism version of Samhain) for the first time ever and it was awesome. Pagan revival efforts are definitely getting more popular in Celtic countries as of late, I think, and it makes me so happy. 🥰💖 P.S. Also, to that Redditor, we have more vowels than English. For example, W and Y are both vowels in Welsh so don't be so cheeky 😉
