The conservation of angular momentum thing is easy to explain actually. Hold your arms out and spin. Your hands need to travel a certain distance to make a full circle. Now pull your arms inwards. Your hands now have to travel a far shorter distance to make a full circle, but the speed they were going at remains the same. Less distance with same speed = less time to complete a circle, and thus faster movement.

When to pull parachute: Either when you feel the horizon is at eye level, pull. Otherwise, if the horizon is already past or at that point, almost immediately pull and pray. Or so I was trained and ran through a ton of simulations something like a decade ago. All the things that can go wrong are fun, like chute not opening, a twist, or failure to deploy. Learned how to respond to those too.

I was eight when my paternal grandfather taught me my first chef's knife skills. When he was confident in my skills, he let me take home the machete he'd given me two years earlier. Having been present, visiting with his mom, my dad also gave me the pocket knife my other grandfather had given me at the same time as a reward when we got home. They had held on to the machete and pocket knife because I was too young to use them unsupervised; they did teach me how to use them properly and safely in the meantime. Teach those skills young, when it's easier to get into good habits and build muscle memory. Just, do it safely and under skilled supervision.

It's not drag, angular momentum has to do with an object's mass as well as the radius of rotation it is inversely proportional to the radius of rotation while being proportional to both the mass and the velocity. This is why when you reduce the radius by pulling in your arms the speed increases as a result.

Why am I watching this? It just makes me feel bad aboit my own lack of talent. Drawing? Nah, terrible at it. The accordion? maybe a little bit, but not great at it. Writing? Wrote 1 page of a short story and am already out of ideas. The piano? See acccordion but worse. Painting? Shit. Dancing? Only ironically, and not even good then. Riding a bike or skateboarding or anything with wheels? Nah, I still remember getting too cocky with the go-kart and crashing it. Sculpture? No. Terrarium making? Ok but nothing impressive, just followed a yt tutorial. Archery? Average at best? Knife/hatchet throwing? garbage. Shooting? No! Quick maths? Horrendous. Memory? Reflexes? Dexterity? Agility? Social intelligence? Below average. Videogames? Average, there was this one stupid game I was kinda good at but I forgot what it was. Acting? Honestly only ever acted in early primary school plays and I don't think I was great at it. Organization? I always do everything last minute, also I am writing this at 3 am. Like, it feels like my only redeeming quality is my good results in school, and we don't know how long that will last.
@cassiswyrm81212 жыл бұрын
It's easy to end up comparing yourself to others, but the thing you have to remember is that you're seeing the final product without the context of likely years of trial and error and continuous practice. And even if someone improves faster at something you can't let that deter you either - you are living your own life, not theirs, and your path to success is different than someone else's. Instead of worrying about being "good enough", think about what interests you. Keep trying things, and see how you can enjoy the process and the learning. Then just keep at something. Follow more tutorials, read books, experiment. Try to compete with your previous self, and look at the work of more experienced people as a chance to learn. You'll be surprised how far you can go if you really work on it. And once in a while share your work with people. They might see your improvement even if you don't feel it.
@xenogorwraithblade25382 жыл бұрын
I get that. But remember, a Jack of all trades but a master of none is better still than a master of one. Get your fingers in every art and science and trade you can until you find something you're passionate about and follow it wholeheartedly, but know it's gonna be a bitch. The skills you pick up along the way will prove invaluable if things don't work out the way you want. I want to do VA work and maybe occasionally record metal vocals. Or the other way around, music is my biggest passion and I've been practicing my vocals for about a decade. I'm not quite where I want to be, but I don't really think I'm bad either. I practice almost every day. And trust me, when I started, I was absolute dogshit. It takes time, but the world's too bleak a place to give up on what brings you joy. Some people just have more trouble figuring out what that is. Give it time.
@justafurrywithinternet3172 жыл бұрын
@@cassiswyrm8121 It's just... when I was like 5-8 years old I was a very gifted child, so I naturally hold myself to a much higher standard. Now I feel like I've degraded since then, but I still expect myself to be exeptional.
@cassiswyrm81212 жыл бұрын
@@justafurrywithinternet317 That is a more common experience than you may know. It's one I know as well. It's hard to accept, but you have to try and take the world as it is. You have these memories of the past and an expectation that you're supposed to continue the same way into the future. It feels like something broke or was lost. I would advise you to just breathe. Close your eyes and slowly, deeply, breathe. Try and relax and focus just on your breathing, and yourself here in this moment. It's okay. You're okay. This frustration over seemingly going from gifted to less so happens to many of us who had such a natural talent in childhood. It always evens out over time, and it takes time and effort to progress beyond that point. You don't have to try to live up to some idea of what the past you should be, or compete against others. You are you. You are here, right now. You are okay. Worrying is normal. We all do it. We fret over what the future will be, and we feel behind. Just relax. Breathe out those feelings, and just let yourself be in the moment. In this moment you can decide what you want to do. If you worry about what you 'should' be then you get yourself more stuck. Your life isn't over and done. You can start working towards something that matters to you right now. A year from now you can have a year of training or a year of worry. Don't let yourself be discouraged if you fall off your path or if you aren't progressing as you feel you should. Relax, breathe, and get back to learning. That will help you more than worrying about it. Don't worry about the skill of others, either. You don't know their story, you don't know what else is going on. Their path isn't yours and you are not a failed or lost version of someone else, even your past self. You are the you who exists right now. Relax. Breathe. Ask yourself, is there some rule that says you can't be okay? That you can't let go? Do you want to let go? Relax. Breathe. Be in the moment and choose what you want to do next. Putting your energy into progressing will get you farther than worrying about it ever will. I know it's hard, but you can do it. Even when you worry, keep going anyway. Relax, breathe, let go, and move forward. I hope that helps a little bit.
