Considered the black sheep of the R-Type series it’s still a good game and well worth getting to know.

I recently subscribed to your channel and as I listen to some arcade/retro podcasts, I just discovered you were co-hosting some early 'Ten pence arcade' podcasts :) At about episode 15 or so, you said to Victor "wouldn't it be a fantastic to have your own arcade museum" and it was so nice to realise you managed to achieve that dream some years later. I need the time to do a dedicated video on Battle shark as there is so much to show you. It’s going to take a lot to get them working but it will be fun when we do. R-Type Leo is fairly easy on the first two levels I just need to get past that 3rd boss.

Since watching this I had a go on Mame - very easy first few levels as you showed, but boy does the difficulty ramp up quickly following that!

I bought an original R-Type Leo PCB 25+ years for £170 from an operator which seemed a lot of money as a teen. Worth it as it's a great game still.

Shootemup, Easy and house music... I am there, love feeling overpowered in a shoot because else I just die horribly. Hopefully I will get a chance to play. Great video bud.

I liked r-type Leo, it's not really r-type but it is a decent shooter. I recall putting a fair few 10 pences in it back in the day. Look forward to the battle shark video.

Hi Dave Hope your well buddy I never saw Leo bitd as was probably at home on my Super Nintendo. I got out of the arcades towards the end of the 80s and got into console gaming. I’ve enjoyed playing Rtype 3 on the snes but super Rtype suffers from terrible slow down Hopefully we will get the battle sharks out in the next week or two 👍

Leo looks like good fun, not as punishing as OG R-Type but maybe that's not such a bad thing. Saw another fantastic feature recently on the museum, this time on local news show Points West 👍👍. The Battle Shark cabs look beautiful, can't wait to see those back up and running 👍👍.

I played R-type Leo for the first time at pay expo last year and made it to the same boss. It does feel rather easy but loads of fun.

Those Battle Sharks look incredible! R-Type Leo seems like a lot of fun, but as you say it seemed really easy for an R-Type game! Will need to check it out myself in the coming weeks. 🙂

It’s much more forgiving until you get to level 3 and it gets a bit tricker. It’s definitely easier that’s for sure. Give it a go Lee 👍

Any SNK swivel games??? ie. Guerrilla war, ikari warriors etc. Guerrilla war is a hard as nails game to beat.

Had a few leo pcbs over the years not the best of the 3 but still a good game, maybe check the dip setting as yours might be on easy ? might have to see what score i can get these days , on mame though im afraid on a pi on my astro city , cant justify the price these pcbs fetch these days , i sold a gunforce pcb a few years back for 40 notes hahah doh ,good vid mate

You can use emulation mate as long as it’s the arcade roms 👍 Don’t think it fit a console release anyway did it ?

I miss my Nintendo cabs. Still have my DK cabaret, but i miss my big colorful row of awesomeness. 😢 The 60 in 1’s just don’t get it done.

Yea I had a row of Nintendo cabs when I first started the hobby and wanted to get every one. It’s how I ended up with sky skipper researching everything they ever made. I miss Dk 3 that’s a fantastic game
