It is a pity that judo, the excellent wrestling sport, was quickly replaced by jiu-jitsu. It's hard for me to find a judo gym in China, everyone is teaching jujitsu. My understanding of jiu-jitsu is that it originated from sports competitions, and is more inclined to ground techniques, and even does not teach standing techniques at all. Its rapid development may be the result of the promotion of large-scale competitions. But jujitsu has a fatal problem. In actual combat, if there are many opponents, it is very dangerous to perform jujitsu and enter the ground actively. Judo is much more comprehensive in technique. I hope that the judo community in Japan will pay attention to the development of judo and re-promote this great sport.

In my country actually judo is getting more popular, there are jiujitsu people who come to train because jiujitsu does not emphasis on takedown. I think with some UFC champions (e.g Khabib, Islam and the Dangestani fighters) with judo background does boost up the popularity of judo a little more. Judo is more versatile if used in street self defense, it can throw much better than Brazilian jiujitsu, it has good take down defence, and it can go to the ground if needed (there are some other judo style that emphasizes in ground fighting e.g/ kosen judo). So in judo u get a good takedown skill + you got option to be proficient in ground as well.

You're thinking of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I assume it is seen with better eyes than Japanese Judo in China for historical reasons. Keep looking. I bet there is a good place where you can train. I had to look up a lot for a dojo in my small third world country with a pop of 7 million, but eventually found a great place.

China has “ Shuai Jiao (摔跤) “ , so you can learn throwing techniques from that’s art. In my opinion, methods of developing body functions of Shuai Jiao is much better than Judo. There are so many exercises as one of the Chinese Kung fu , and has many throwing techniques also. But no ground techniques. Better point of Judo is just “organized sports”
