R1 Raptor build part 1

This is a 07 Raptor 700 with a 06 R1 engine I am building at Monkey Wrench Cycles for a customer. This shows the progress up to this point. I will post further videos as the build progresses. Special thanks to Three Two choppers for machine work.
Specs are as follows:
2007 Yamaha Raptor 700 ATV
2006 Yamaha R1 engine, TB's, Wiring Harness, Controls
JC Racing drag struts front and rear
American Star +12 Swingarm and Carrier
Durablue X33 axle/hubs
Fluidyne Radiator
Electronics box and gussets machined at Three Two Choppers

how did u do it for the engine to feed fuel did u use the raptor tank and pump?

Used the raptor tank and pump and the R1 engine has a return style fuel system so I had to use a fitting to return fuel to the tank.

It really depends on alot of different factors like what engine + year, what supporting mods need done like axle, swingarm, steering damper, adjustable a-arms, etc. If your serious come by the shop and we can get into more detail

Awesome build. I am just about to start one with a cbr600rr motor. Not sure if im going to use a trx raptor or banshee frame, whatever I can get my hands on. any suggestions for me?

Make sure you choose an engine that has enough room to fit in the frame. That would be best advice so you arent stuck trying to modify frame alot

Need to reverse one rear wheel. Is the engine tilted farther than it is in the bike, how do you know how far it can be tilted?

hey i have a raptor 350 and was wondering if i could put any motorcycle engines to step up the power but with as little engine work as possible any suggestions?

I believe they make some performance parts for the raptor 350 like big bore, cam, exhaust, etc. and that would most likely be cheaper/easier than trying to buy and swap another engine into it and you can get some pretty good hp gains from those mods.

Did you have to cut the top and bottom frame rails? How much did you have to add?

nothing on top frame, just cut and fabricate new bottom frame rails

I built it over an extended period and cost was around $11k but that included all supporting mods to the atv, and the engine was alot newer when I bought it so the cost was significantly higher than if I was to buy the same engine today.

What radiator u use should it be a raptor or 4 the 1000

Fluidyne Racing radiator and high output cooling fan. No overheating

He brought me the completely stock atv and nothing else. He will have over $10k in the entire build including the engine and all other parts and labor including the supporting mods(swingarm, drag struts, braided brake lines, HH pads, etc). We are located in Fort Worth, Texas.

Rear Tires are American Racer 21.5/10-10 and the fronts are Kenda 3.50-10

Monkey Wrench Cycles 520 pitch sprockets? I looked on their online store and they only sell 520 but I prefer the stock 530. Also what chain is that?

The sprockets are 530 pitch and I do not see the rear 530 on PBI website for the Raptor 700 anymore so you may need to call them. It may be listed under "custom sprockets". Also, you can have PMP sprockets(Wylie, TX) make you one. They can make any rear sprocket in most any size you want. The chain is an EK ZVX3 and with the stretched swingarm it was somewhere in the 175 or so link range

Monkey Wrench Cycles dope thanks! I'm running a 09 r1 and I don't want the quad to be too torqued so do you recommend a larger rear sprocket? I'm just afraid to snap a tooth using the stock rear "41" tooth sprocket since the stock r1 rear sprocket is 47.

I think if you dont run a larger sprocket that it will be super sluggish taking off but it wont break the sprocket since you will have to spin the tires to take off to keep it from stalling. If you go to gearingcommander you can see all the specs on different sprocket changes, just make sure and change the tire size to what your using.
