Hey guys, you wont believe my number 1 accessory for my GS. I have added 16 accessories, but there is one I like the best... Whats yours?

I like my top box because I can store my helmet in it and lock it when I get off and leave the bike.

I agree it's useful... I just can't get over the way it looks.

Too many accessories to list but I will say that the grip puppies may be my favorite as well....thanks to you and hearing you talk about them a few months before I even got my GS. In fact, I had them ready to put on the bike, before the bike even arrived!! Along with a few other pieces of course! Great video as always and I'm looking forward to seeing where you ride to in Virginia!

Thanks Jim... accessories can be very subjective, what works for some may not work for others. I'm glad I could help. I would much rather watch a smaller youtuber than ones that are getting paid to push products. There is a lot to be said for the small channels. I'm looking forward to riding with friends again. I have another vid coming up soon about tires... stay tuned.

One of the first things I put on my new GS is bar back risers. I got the cheap ones from Amazon and saved a ton of money. The bike came with the full Option 719 and has adjustable pegs/shifter/levers... so I'm covered there.... I also got the BMW Connected holder for my iPhone... Love my GS... Great video!

Very cool... cheap is not always a bad thing.

Mine is universal for any bike, its my gerbing heated jacket, it just makes year round riding so comfortable. Even early starts in the summer here in Yorkshire can be a bit nippy, so for me it's worth every penny. I went for the cylinder head protectors over the bars just for looks. Still loving my FJR, you have to work to get to the torque compared to the gs but I'm happy 👍
@Yo-Ken2 жыл бұрын
I did not include riding gear, but yeah I can see the heated jacket as a big plus. The weather here in North Carolina is good for 9 months sometimes longer. I do like the FJR, came so close to buying one.

Thanks for sharing! I appreciate you sharing your favorites with us. I have many of the same things that you have but was especially glad to hear about the shifter and brake extension. A couple of new favorites for me also many in the $20 range are first handlebar risers. I realize they are a sizing accessory that not everybody needs. They make the bike so much more comfortable while riding and relieves the stress on my shoulders. Secondly, I really like is the oversized kickstand plate. (GIVI $23)

Sure thing, sometimes its the little things that bring the most satisfaction.

So far the only add-ons I have are the Lone Rider X headlight guard with fold down metal grid, and a Touratech kick stand foot enlarger for soft ground. Other than those, I find the bike pretty much perfect as-is. I may add flip down amber driving light protectors from amazon. I was in your neck of the woods yesterday although I didn’t find the boat ramp. When I got home I figured out where I went wrong.

I can't help myself, I have to add crap... even if its really not worth it. Dam, I was at Buckhorn lake yesterday also... around 1pm. Let me know if you head that way in the future, its a favorite stop of mine.

G'day Ken, how are you brother. Absolutely agree with you on the grip puppies. I have put them on almost every bike I have owned since their inception whenever it was! I honestly thought that the brake pedal extension was going to be #1. Okay, on my fjr I have the following accessories; Grip puppies (naturally), Rear luggage rack + 52litre Shad top box(it doubles as an esky because it holds a carton of stubbies on ice!). Headlight protectors, engine protector wings, 1 inch bar riser plate, Satnav mount, Quadlock mount, Sport screen, small tail bag (when top box not required), tank bag, assorted colour coded small items like oil filler cap, bar end weights and clutch and brake cylinder covers. My #1 ultimate accessory is my brand new Gel seat. Fairdinkum brother, this gel insert is better than sliced bread any day of the week!! I'm sure in the future I will no doubt add some other bits and pieces, but isn't that what we do? Great chatting as usual brother, stay safe.

Its comes down to the what I use most on the bike, hand grips, shifter and brakes. The seat and the levers are perfect from the factory. Dam Andy, I thought I had a lot of accessories :) I hope things are well with you... I'm doing good here... as long as I can ride, life is good.

@@Yo-Ken Absolutely agree with you brother. I have managed to complete a couple of small rides, around the 150-180km mark (130 odd miles in your quaint imperial measurement),🤣🤣and the hell with the pain as that can be dealt with meds when I get home. Life is certainly improving mate. Cheers brother.

Wow... thats a lot of accessories. It seems next to Harley the GS is one of the most accessorized bikes.

True, i got Harley too, loaded with straight HD Genuine Parts. I rarely used though.

Good video. Did you forget about mentioning your foot stand shoe/enlarger? I agree with you 100% about the grip puppies and the top box. I have been using the grip puppies for a few years on my bikes. And unless it is a GS loaded for a long trip with the panniers on, I also REALLY dislike the look of a top box on a motorcycle. The top box looks so bulbous and makes the bike look so unbalanced (Although I am sure a top box is very functional). Ride safe.
@Yo-Ken2 жыл бұрын
Thanks... Yeah, I always forget something...lol. The larger foot print on soft dirt or grass helps a lot, and it was cheap... so I gave it a shot... so far so good. I know the top box is a functional piece, but I can not get over the looks. Like you said its bulbous, and makes a motorcycle look unbalanced... not my cup of tea.

Great vid! Watched the entire vid, can’t believe the grips are your favorite! Need to check those out. New sub 🤙
@Yo-Ken2 жыл бұрын
Hard to believe I know, but it's the accessory I use the most. On many motorcycles, the grips are too thin for me, and in most cases, they don't have the right texture and feel. If a rider has small hands, they may not like them. For $20, it's worth a shot I think.
@125ZJK2 жыл бұрын
I got the same attitude with top boxes. They make the bike look uneven. Panniers and a tail bag all day :)
@Yo-Ken2 жыл бұрын
If I had to... it would be panniers, top box now way.

I missed this video. My #1 has to be the knock off extended shoe for the kick stand ($15). That was a game changer for the big girl. I have a love hate relationship with the Grip puppies but I have them on all my bikes so I must love them more than hate them.

A different person's list: Kaoko Throttle lock is best, not "cruise control" very often. One Denali D7 and Cansmart to help the high beam is #2 on right side, junky light on the left side that hits road signs more as it goes forward with a slight right bias hung on the BMW plastic shapely cross bar . Machine Moto Art head covers so you can practice full lock turns and figure 8s is #3. Michelin Adventure tires #4. Electric plug for vest on left triangle cover #5. Plastic BMW three legged frame paint protectors look good for little. #6. Grip puppies are good too #7. New ESA Tractive Rear Shock with strong spring from Ted Porter for 2 up camping is a real good expensive option. This time of year I like my Hippo Hands and the larger GSA OEM windscreen. In the summer, I like the tiny BMW OEM Rally screen. Mine came with the thumbdrive that gives me "Enduro Pro" for all dirt roads that I go on. I like 3 Vario cases but also use the two BMW rear Softbags, large and small and can swap any in less than a minute. Finally bought the Alt Rider lower engine guard set in black on a silver engine '13 R1200GS LC. I bought the warmer 5 ohm OEM heated grips, real money but they come with real heat. I enjoy having tools etc in the Aerostich large Tank saddle bags hanging over the tank. It came with the Tourtech tank top bag with big map case and it is out of the way of my belly when I stand up, no extra rear pocket to get in the way, It is easy to fill the gas with this bag. It came with NAV IV but upgraded to VI. I have no intention to buy and add the quick-shifter option or get Keyless or hill start assist etc..

where did you get the rear brake pedal?, I like it too.....
Dude nice Bike. But it seems to me that you bought the wrong Bike based on your video. A shift cam cover would not protect the GS whatsoever you need a crash bar protection unless you are one of those persons who are 100% sure they will never drop their bike 🤷🏻♂️. The Denalis aren’t you favourite neither the beak??!! Actually it will increase you bike signature during day riding. In my opinion it is more useful during the day than at night especially if you don’t ride at night a lot. The GS is a bulky bike compared to Sport bikes. You should ha e bought an XR as you mentioned before. Just my 2 cents. Buy what you like to ride
@Yo-Ken Жыл бұрын
Can't argue with you bud. Only excuse I have for buying the GS, it just did so many things so well. Who knows, an XR may be in my future.

@@Yo-Ken I believe you should try the S1000 XR. I have a 2022 R1250 GS. I thought for a longtime buying the S1000 for the reasons you have mentioned. I took a trial ride on it. Dunno here in Quebec we have a lot of potholes and what not, I felt the GS can handle it better. It also felt hot like directly sitting on the engine lol. S1000 is subtle while taking curves or in town. It is also more “esthetic” than the GS. Having said that the GS still an amazing bike. Just go with your heart buddy. And as an FYI my favourite accessories are definitely the Denali’s sound bomb horn and the fog lights. I have 2 pairs D3 and S4 lol. I like the SW motech gear lever maybe my next upgrade given the $$. Ride safe.

Don't those grip puppies suck up water when it rains? I had something like that on an old bike and when it rained they absolutely soaked my gloves. Cut em off immediately.

Have not had any issues as yours, but I very rarely ride in heavy rain.
