Just bought a 2023 1250r... had a 30 year halt in riding due to child raising, took a class offered by Police motor unit which was excellent and been feeling out the bike slowly( Braking, balance, low speed turns). Your video was excellent...thanks.

I never had any problems with center stands on my previous bikes, but then again those bikes were lighter. I admit I find this bike quite intimidating putting it on the center stand and have been avoiding doing so. Well I only put it on the center stand exactly two times😃 Was even thinking if turning the handlebars to the other direction would make the whole process easier? Thanks for this video. I'll start practicing..

Hi Thomas, Thanks for watching and for sharing your own experience. I find I use the stand mostly if I am parking up for any length of time and not at home, like at the airport for example and secondly for cleaning it makes the back end of the bike a lot easier and also turning the front wheel is possible when the bike is up on the centre stand. All the best with your practise and when you are out next Ride Safe!

I’ve never been effective at getting my bikes up on their center stand, and my R1250R is no exception. But while I’ve been putting a lot of weight on the stand, I haven’t lifted my entire body up on it like you did, so I’ll give that a try in the spring when the new riding season starts. Fingers crossed.

Hi Pbofan, Thanks for watching and giving your point of view and personal experience on this topic. I hope you have more luck with this in the new season. Im hoping for a few more dry and mild days before winter kicks in fully. All the best and when you do get out next, Ride Safe!

Watching the video (excellent by the way) when using this technique, once on the stand the rear wheel on my '22 R1250R is at least 30mm off the floor. Putting her on the stand is only just within capability even hauling upwards hard on the rear passenger rails, so it seems either my centre stand is high or the bike suspension lower than yours?

Hi Kevin, thanks for viewing and for your kind praise. I would like to think that all models would be set up in the same way from the factory with regards to the dimensions and how the side stand works. If you are struggling I would suggest you pop into your local BMW dealer (or wherever you bought the bike from) to demonstrate the issue. Do let me know how you get on. Thanks again for viewing and when you are out next ride safe!

Thanks for this, I’m still intimidated by the centre stand and weight as it’s my first big bike. Cheers!

Just be affirmative and confident and put all your weight into it… I totally understand as it is a big bike but you will get there!! All the best…

Just tried your instruction video, ignition off I can just (only just) get full weight on stand pedal, but no margin left. Weigh 168lb so also need to lift and pull backwards to make sure. Switch ignition on and stand is a lot easier, why? Did wonder if setting suspension button onto 'high' instead of Auto would make this even easier?

Hi Kevin, thanks for watching and for sharing your experience. Very interesting to hear that it’s easier to get the bike onto the centre stand with the engine running. The suspension settings will slightly decrease or increase the height the bike suspension sits at so I do agree that this is going to make a difference. Thanks again and do let us know how you get on with the higher setting. I’ll also try this out next time I’m out with the bike. Thanks and all the best…

Hi Kevin, just to let you know, I tried this today with the engine on and it was easier so you are totally correct! I’m not totally sure if having the suspension in the highest setting is much different for me than having it on auto or low but definitely definitely having the engine on helps. Thanks again for your thoughts and for watching. All the best.

Hi Murrae, Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I feel exactly the same and I’ve been out on many other premium bikes over the past year or two. Still a very underrated bike for some reason. I’m looking forward to doing a side by side review of the new and current version in the early part of next year. All the best and when you are out next… Ride Safe.

Put the bike into 1st gear when taking it off to prevent it rolling away.
