For everyone saying why this won’t run express between Church Avenue and Coney Island, the reason for this is the current track configuration and lack of any real benefits. More specifically, from the MTA analysis: Current Infeasibility of Express between Kings Hwy and Church Av A one-way peak direction express service between Kings Hwy and Church Av, with locals generally originating or terminating at Kings Hwy and expresses operating through from or to Coney Island-Stillwell Av, is not feasible given the current track and switch layout at Kings Hwy. Modernization of the Kings Highway interlocking has been programmed in the current capital plan, and is planned to include the additional switches required to allow for smooth operation of a one-way express service on this segment upon completion after 2019. However, the marginal impacts of this express segment would lead to approximately equal numbers of passengers losing time (from longer waits) and gaining time. Moreover, nearly all of the benefitting passengers would board at stations between Stillwell Av and Kings Hwy, where most passengers already have nearby access to alternative express services to Manhattan. Most of the passengers between Kings Hwy and Church Av, who are more dependent on the Culver line, would only have local service and therefore longer waits. This should answer your questions. #carryon

I am fine with no peak-direction express at the Culver Line (3-track part). I am not a fan of the current Church Avenue Express, considering that there are 2 express tracks that are heavily underserved. If the (V) comes back, I wish that it serves the Church Avenue Local, so that (F) trains can run express there all times.

Have the F train go express between Church Avenue and Avenue X in Peak directions only.
@TheRailLeaguer5 жыл бұрын
Joshua V The only people that would benefit from the F express section between Church Avenue and Kings Hwy are those living south of Kings Hwy, and these guys already have ample alternatives for express service. The next best alternative would be the Brighton B and Q. The bus rides between the two is not that long. The passengers living north of Kings Hwy would not benefit from an express device between Kings Hwy and Church Avenue. Unless any service is added back in compensation, these guys will be forced to wait longer for a train (and no, extending the G is not a viable option for them, since it serves different clientele).
@kingoftrainz5 жыл бұрын
JeremiahC99 Would that change if the fleet got expanded with the R211 order?
@TheRailLeaguer5 жыл бұрын
kingoftrainz The problem with adding service involves track capacity, not just fleet size. Currently, the 6th Avenue can host around 28-30 trains per hour. The M used around 9 trains and the F 15 trains. The line also travels express on Queens Blvd, which is used by the E. The E requires 15 trains per hour. You could add extra trains on the Queens Blvd Line, and then along the 53rd Street Tunnel and Queens Blvd Local tracks. However, both of those tracks are used by the M from Brooklyn. The M was changed in 2010 to serve the 6th Avenue Line, which has benefitted 22,000 riders. Due to the sheer popularity of the service, M service was increased from 8 trains to 9 trains per hour. After service is increased to 10 per hour, then you are precluded from adding more than ONE train. Even if extra capacity existed and extra cars is available, the demand is simply not there for an express service between Kings Hwy and Church Avenue. The benefitting passengers would be better off riding the bus to the Brighton Line. Therefore, in my new mater plan, with the Nassau-8th Avenue connection (and eventually, the S. 4th Street Subway), I plan to introduce a proper Culver Express service in the form of the V. Under this plan, F service would decrease from 15 trains to 12 trains and V service would operate at 12 trains per hour, giving a net total of 9 additional trains between Kings Hwy (where the V will terminate) and Church Avenue as well as in Manhattan and Queens. In Queens, both the F and V would run Local and the E and new K (replacing the R) would be express. Past Briarwood, the E and V would go to Archer Avenue (new extension to be built past Parsons/Archer) while the F and K go to Hillside Avenue. More details on this soon. However, in short, the current situation would not be changed with the R211 fleet due to track capacity, switch layout, and demand.
@kingoftrainz5 жыл бұрын
JeremiahC99 Why make so many drastic changes to Queens Blvd? Would long-time customers really be satisfied with that? As I remember, when the V was first instituted in 2001, F train riders along 53rd St were disappointed they didn’t have a one-seat express ride to Jamaica-179 anymore, same in the opposite direction to Coney Island. 20 years later, the orange M is very popular and those people aren’t complaining anymore. Although the R has it’s issues, rebranding it completely would confuse customers. With the money you would need to build those extensions, you could easily fix the interlocking at Kings Highway to make an F express service more plausible. And while an interesting idea, where’s the demand for service past Parsons/Archer or 179?
@TheRailLeaguer5 жыл бұрын
@@kingoftrainz One of the reasons why I am making drastic changes to the Queens Blvd Line is that I've talked with the guys on the NYC Transit Forums, and there's been some division over the Culver Express, R yard Issues, and the like. When I made my plans for the Nassau-8th Avenue Connection, I made service changes to every line since our current patterns are not affected. One of the lines that were affected was the Queens Blvd Line, already one of the busiest in the system. The big change I made was removing the R since the R on Queens Blvd impacts the reliability issues of the whole line. Therefore, I rerouted the line back to Astoria (to address the yard issue while at the same time increase capacity, I also had the R service rerouted from the 4th Avenue Line to the Fulton Street Line to Euclid Avenue, were the existing Pitkin Yard is readily available to accommodate the R fleet). When my plan posted, they also suggested I also deinterline the QB Line at 36th Street. Two suggestions were offered: -Have the E and K go express and F and V local. G service to be extended on the line. -Have the E and K go local and F and V express. G service remains the same. I eventually chose the first option. In addition, my plan retains direct service between the Myrtle Avenue Line and Midtown Manhattan. However, it would be via the 8th Avenue Line (which currently runs under capacity) instead of the 6th Avenue Line. The service would also be redesignated as the K. 6th Avenue service would be replaced by the V for Culver Express. They also suggest rerouting all 8th Avenue Local trains to the Broadway El, replacing service to Lower Manhattan due to demand changes. The plan has since evolved into new plans for a new South 4th Street Subway to replace the outdated Jamaica El. Here is the link to the original plan: drive.google.com/open?id=1SeL9tHd9_mr2gLertrqJd329ADbTJpts&usp=sharing

And make the permanent for all throughout the days. Just increase service on the G trains, by making em longer or add more trains per hr to service between Bergen St and Church Ave
@TheRailLeaguer4 жыл бұрын
That would be $75 million please. Plus these guys don’t even need to use the F train. G train riders between 7th Avenue and Bergen Street that need the F train can instead ride to Hoyt-Schermerhorn and transfer to the A or C trains, which will get them to a nearby station. Also, making every F train express throughout the entire day will do nothing but deprive people of a direct ride to Manhattan on the northern end.
