Would love to see more of these videos on the Aurogon system there is not too many videos out there with people using it correctly apart from yourself, would be nice to see some demo images of what an image looks like when things go wrong with setups and how to fix them. (examples of light reflections, softness, stopping down too much) Just got my Aurogon system last week. I've shot macro upto 5:1 before with nice results and dabbled with microscope objectives, This system however I think I've to completely re-learn lighting. I'm getting pretty crappy results with 10x and 20x and have not even bothered to try anything higher. I found 10-10X is even overkill for trying to photograph some silicon wafers or microchips, and its a bit tight for Fly heads so I reckon the 10x lens will be used most with me going back to my 25mm 5:1 and the 85mm 2:1 or anything less. I had a 600W strobe head pointing downwards over the lens and covering the subject, with diffusion on a strobe reflector and also a paper tunnel over the lens as a lens hood. I'm getting very very soft results even when stepping at 5um increments with settling time between each shot. I stuck to using 0.35NA when using the lens. Am going to keep some example images of fails as I learn, and hopefully things will eventually get sharp for me once I get everything nailed down. bullets.smugmug.com/Laowa-Aurogon-learning-curve

Not all Nikon cameras with built-in flashes can trigger the SB-200 flashes. My little D5300 has a popup flash, but it does not act as a commander. I do not have a Z50, but apparently it's little popup will not function as a commander either. My D7200 popup flash did trigger these wireless flashes. Most of the Z cameras, including the Z6 that I have do not have popup flashes, so those require the commander unit to trigger the flashes. I really dislike the mounting system, and am looking for a twin flash bracket that would work better for holding two SB-200 flashes for macro work. Any suggestions?

Can I buy a set of those bases for the SB-200 flashes from you??? Sorry I missed the live stream.

By the way, I lucked out and got the R1C1 kit used. The new price was too high.

I love the R1C1 and the SB-R200 SU80 combo. I would like radio controlled instead of Nikons' brilliant but limited CLS trigger system. Having dedicated group and channel switches instead of menus is lovely. Not a fan of the unusual battery but it does last longer than you would expect. Mine has been in heavy use since I bought it in about 2008. Nikon speedlights are expensive but they seem to last forever and have been well copied by other makers ... 🦘

Roy - I am actually answering the questions you posed at a livestream well in the future - on October 29th, 2024 - I ran out of time before I could answer your questions. It is not bad to clone a missing part but I would not do it in a competition or publish it without explaining. The filter paper is exactly blotting paper. Yes I do use tilt/shift occasionally, when I want more depth but without stacking. Thanks, Allan
